Brianna on a student asking to network with her on linkedin: "LOL I have a job, I don't use Linkedin because it's for jobless losers"
The worst part is how she got the job. I'm not surprised that career networking tools are foreign to wu because she uses personal connections to get money to fund her projects. You'll never buddy up to someone enough to get them to give you their life savings on linkedin and it wouldn't fly to post dramatic status updates fishing for sympathy.

That makes at least two lolcows that don't get that @Joe_Cracker

An HD upscale isn't going to improve the lighting. If just using pixel replication or enlargements aren't the best in this case. This is a CGI animation image. One thing that should be done first is to go back into software with your model data and start a render that's HD or 4K resolution but if you want to fix the lighting, you need to set it the desired effect before you do a final render.

Just recently, Cracked ran a new article titled "5 Ugly Realities Being a Woman in Gaming Industry".
The very first representative they cited as a source was Brianna Wu, of all people.
When others pointed out the fact that Brianna Wu, a white male who just recently underwent surgery to "become female", may not be the best choice to speak about a the realities of a life as a woman, they quickly changed the title to "5 Ways The Gaming Industry Is Way More Sexist Than You Think" (though you can still see the old title in the url).
White Knights started to go into a frenzy too, downvoting everyone being critical, even those people who stated that the issue of women's rights is an important one, but felt that Brianna Wu is not the best choice as a representative. Go figure.

Boy am I glad Cracked is pushing forward agendas. It wasn't like I was browsing the site for amusing articles like you'd assume from a website calling itself "America's Only Humour Site".

To be fair, for a humor website, mainly featuring "5 insanly hyperbole something you didn't knew (but totally did)" lists, they do have some interesting articles every now and then. Like when they interviewed a transgender person and gave some insight into their daily issues (like harrassment from both, the gay and the straight community or the dangers of simply going out for some drinks in a bar, at night).
Or the real life police officer, outlining his experiences in one of the worst neighbourhoods. Or that one time they interviewed a prostitute, giving you some new insight, some small details you haven't thought about before (unless you are a prostitute of course).

I don't even mind them "pushing an agenda". Everyone got one. But i really have to doubt their journalistic skills when the first person they could come up with, is une putain de attention like that.

Not a discussion which is accepted in fourth-wave feminism, see 'transmisogyny'. Also google "TERF" (trans-erasing radical feminist).

Oh, c'mon, now you're just making words up. No way these are real things. Should i threaten my blissful ignorance by googling them?

EDIT: I did google it. Holy cow. Now i have to ask myself, should i really wade through this dense jungle of articles and blog posts, that read like they are from another time or place in the universe?

Technically TERF is trans-exclusionary ect, ect. Basically see opinions on men, apply to a group far more marginaalized than the white middle/upper class white women that pretty much make up feminism nowadays.

Transmisogyny though is like "lesbophobia". A term made up to deliberately exclude/erase male counterparts. In other words "it's all about meeeee!"

I think TERF is increasingly getting flung about pretty widely though. I personally witnessed a discussion where it was overwhelmingly held to be TERF-ing to suggest that the childhood experiences of gender socialisation were different for cis girls assigned female at birth than for trans girls who were assigned male at birth.

Since being a TERF pretty much automatically makes one persona non grata in online feminist groups, people in those groups are understandably highly reluctant to enter any discussion of which the outcome might be "YOU'RE A TERF". Usual irony applies: 'actual' TERFs dgaf if they are called TERFs.

(sorry, this is probably really off topic and I'll shut it now)

Didn't Cracked write some of those promotion articles that they claim said minorities wrote? I think one of the people said Luke told him he could either write his words, or let Cracked write them.

Is there some kind of Kiwi Farm deity or magic we can invoke to take Wu out of the spotlight, especially now that she's leaking into mainstream publications? Or do we just have to let the disease run its course?

Wu-Hoo has already been on MSNBC, BBC, NPR (I think), and various other news print publications. Her entire known existence to most people is being a victim of angry gamer boys. She is going to continue to do this tirade so long as people pay attention.

However, the Icarus Effect is already taking place. Her supporters have already begun to show faltering interest in supporting her grandstanding victimization for pity points. Any actual feminist at the cool kids table isn't going to say her game is empowering because they are oxersexualized caricatures of the female figure, and any gaming publication worth their salt will refuse to touch the game because they know as soon as they do, their reputation with gamers is tainted (seriously, name ONE person who can think of that can say "Revolution 60 is an amazing game" without immediately thinking they're on the take or on some serious narcotics).

And even still, what Wu is going to come to the cold realization that none of these outlets care about her game. She is essentially being used as this year's club to bash gamers with to maintain the status quo. She is a talking point and little else to these people. When she comes to realize this, she will lash out, and when she confronts the media for objectifying her not as some superheroic avenger against evil, but the hapless damsel in distress, they will annihilate her.

Let it run its course.

Are you kidding me? Revolution 60 is the Citizen Kane of video games!

Oh wait, i'm on narcotics again, am I not? Yupp. I am. I meant the other one. With Linda Hamilton and the fire and all that.

Jesus i'm wasted.

It's so fucking awful. I can't believe something so stupid showed me how shit the media is. This shit isn't some secret it's laid out in detail on the internet. Small blogs I can see but major mainstream magazines. Like wtf it's your job to make an article every week or month. Some college students manage to put out consistently good papers every week, these are professionals.

Man I just can't see how anyone could look at all the evidence and declare they're strongly for brianna wu even though there are a slew of similar characters you could use. Hell anita ears is presentable. There were others too but I can't remember them.

Don't you think that like gawker or other folks who have a stake in this would have done a better job of keeping her out of the spotlight more. She's like the main one now I think. She doesn't have a good track record with anything she gets involved in. Though right now it looks like she's doing good. Sure she's blown through tons of cash on her flights of fancy (I admit this makes me jealous) but she is the fucking boss, she's on the cover of national magazines, she's going to be in a book, she's got speaking engagements, patroen money. It seems like it will all come crashing down but it doesn't. She didn't lose money, frank lost money. No matter what happens she is better off than she was 4 years ago and had a free ride the whole time.

I think she will get bad attention and drop mostly out of sight, but she'll have a large network of people who remain sympathetic and from those she will choose her next host.

Why? I'd rather be broke than having to earn my living like she does. And i don't mean being a game designer (i dabbled in that). I'm talking about the attention whoring. About inserting oneself into a greater issue for personal gain only and about blowing up things out of proportion and stirring up controversy (again, for personal gain).
I would say the same thing about the likes of Glenn Beck or Bill O'Reilly, btw.
Maybe i'm idealistic that way, or plain naive. But i mean it. I'd rather survive one day at a time than to sell myself out like that.

Do you think she believes it all? Even when she's faking it against herself, do you think she thinks it is all real?

Hard to tell. I'm leaning towards faking it. See above. But then again, hard to tell. Worst case scenario, a mixture of both.
