I like that Dobson views twitter as 'incredibly vital' to his life. How exactly is complaining on twitter so important? He's not using it to create new art, he's not using it to build references, he's not doing it for anything but alternating between screeching about nonsense and crying about how fragile the egos of men are.
You might just call his Twitter use...a privilege?

What was the last time he appeared in a con? He needs to shill his Ze/Zir/Zirself Pirate comic doesn't he?

It should come as no surprise to anyone that he acts like this. He bitched about DA for years, calling it toxic, yet he refused to leave. He's addicted to complaining, and I really believe he has some kind of martyr complex.

I recall a couple months ago he posted a tweet where he basically whined "NOOOO I don't wanna get off twitter!!!!!!!!!!" cuz I think he had to go back to work. It really said a lot, I feel.

The more I read about Dobson, the less inclined I am to laugh at him and the more inclined I am to... like... genuinely ween him. He rubs me just in the wrong way. He's not like Chris-chan, where he's woefully ignorant of his own incompetence, nor is he like Peter Coffin, where his antics are more hilarious in his attempts to get attention. He doesn't even strike me like Wu, someone who publicly invites bullying and harassment in order to get a rise out of people and publicity, and having extremely confusing double standards. I mean, at least Wu does something. She made a game (a lazy and incompetent one, but a game nonetheless) and she goes out for public speaking and genuinely gets her presence out there (albeit her speeches are pretty bullshit). She's at least doing something.

Dobson just whines on Twitter, makes a picture every once in a blue moon, and continues to whine on again about how he's so oppressed and how he can't do the things he wants and how it's too hard to do what he wants. I'm not sure where his passion lies, but obviously he cares very little for his art and his transparency for other causes that he supposedly "supports" even moreso. Like, literally, the most the guy has ever done is done a couple poorly conceived OCs, some fan works, and gone to some conventions, and he calls that his art career. If we're going by such pathetic standards, then if we applied it to writing, I've done about as much work as Dobson. And I do this sort of thing as a one-off hobby that I can only really concentrate on if I'm extremely bored.

Hell, as much as we give shit to Chris for never really trying to succeed in improving his life, at least he attempted to do shit to further his false life. Literally, you could make an argument that Chris was more proactive than Dobson.
If Dobson was more proactive and less whiny he could be on the level of someone like Tim Buckley who despite all the criticism he gets is able to make a nice living from his comics and is able to try out things like hosting a gaming convention and making a cartoon series.

Dobson also has enough fans that he could be making multiple comics a week and sell a decent amount of books, t-shirts and whatever else but instead of following through on the ideas he has like creating a podcast he just adds it as a Patreon goal that he might do if people give him $600 per month.

If Dobson was creating regular content there's a good chance he'd be known as the "Anti-gamergate comic guy" and be noticed by Wu senpai and maybe invited to do anti gamergate talks too.

Imagine how many of his problems would go away if he just stopped using Twitter. Apparently being away from the internet altogether is just horrible and unbearable (ha ha), but what if he just tried logging out for a day? Two days? Seriously. We'd not have to deal with his bitching and he might get something accomplished.

I mean whatever he accomplished would inevitably be shite regardless, but still. We'd get a break from his bitching.

But there are a lot of animated shows being made in the US. Maybe the final animated work is done overseas, but the story, modeling, storyboards and designs are done in the US.
Cartoon Network, Disney, Disney XD, Nickelodeon, The Hub, Adult Swim, Fox, FX, FXX and probably others I'm forgetting produce lots of animated shows and offer jobs to talented artists right here in the US.
And that's ignoring all of the comic book and comic strip publishers.
But all of that would take accepting criticism and hardwork.
Yes, but all these franchises are dominated by sexist dude bros, and therefore a progressive feminist series such as Alex ze Pirate doesn't stand a chance.

What does Dobson have to be scared about? It's so asinine because he literally writes nothing really controversial, and many other Internet personalities have been way more inflammatory than he's ever been and they're not maimed/dead. So Dobson made a hundred SJW comics about Gamergate/female cosplayers getting harassed. What, is some angry user of the Internets going to break down his door and force him to watch porn?

Also, it's abysmally autistic to insist that he needs the Internet to bitch on Twitter. You're not doing anything productive other than shooting yourself in the foot every time you open the lowest hole in your face, Dobbs.

I'm going to vent for a moment.

Dobson is a child. An entitled, lazy, whiny, hypocritical and eternally grumpy child. One that could easily rise to the top of the group of shitty people he wants to be known by, but is held back by his own laziness, entitlement, and obsessions. A man who refuses to try to improve himself in any context, and has constructed a worldview around him where he's a simple man trying to do his valiant duty before being cut down by violent misogynerds.

I find it fascinating that Dobson thinks he "needs" Twitter. For what? To talk about how great cartoon lesbians are? To distract yourself from actual work that pays your bills? Maybe to distract yourself from the harsh reality that you don't actually enjoy what your supposed life's work is?

This is a common thing that artists tend to promote among each other. I've seen more than a few claim they would spit on people.

See, I don't get the attitude of "I can't get off the internet! I use it all the time!"

But for me, "getting off the internet" means taking a break. Sometimes you're on it to much and you need to go outside, stretch your legs, and work on something else for a while. If you're getting mad at people over the internet, it helps to decompress by having a distraction... or, you're able to think more clearly when you're not in the heat of some drama. You're able to put things in perspective.

Nobody is asking him to leave the internet forever.

It was a take-down of cults of personality, like the ones we see on Twitter and Tumblr:

So at the risk of Autism-elemental damage, I watched the episode.

I can now safely say I know why Chris hated it.

The antagonist in question is someone who screams about the need for equality and runs things cult-style with intimidation, a-la Vade, and does so with some kind of ability that ensures that no individual has any special talents or abilities that can outshine the others. She's created a so-called utopia based on this, since equality mean nobody can outdo one another, ergo enforced peace, and state-mandated friendship, but secretly most of the village is miserable but can't do anything about it because they either consider the alternative worse or are scared shitless of incurring the leader's wrath.

So CWCVille, then.

The irony is that the antagonist in question, riddled with insecurities, has done this to ensure nobody can outshine them. Whilst arguing for homogenization and equality, the leader of this movement is the special-est of all the so-called special snowflakes, and as such, she believes that everyone must conform in order to suit her whims. I know fuck all about MLP, but this much was obvious:

Chris hated her because he saw himself in her.

"The internet is so incredibly vital to our lives"
  • Gets less than $1200 a year from his internet job
  • Gets "bulled" by the internet
  • Just wastes his day away tweeting to his follower count (that user to $ is even lower than his annual patron income) about stupid gemtlemen sperging and to a certain person who I have yet to see reply to any of his tweets and most likely has muted him long ago.
  • Claims this the social side of this is an actual essential thing he needs when in reality it just seems to be stopping him from doing work and plenty of comic artists don't spend all day on Twitter and are much more successful than him.
I decided to see just how many times Wu Senpai has acknowledged Dobear's existence.

I'm not sure whether he knows that Wu is actually piloting the trannycopter... :ween:

Anyway, what's happened with Dobson here seems like a more extreme version of what happened when many e-celebs got Twitter: They started soapboxing their most inane thoughts instead of creating any actual content.
