Lil' miss cult-member trailer:
We have two children, a boy and a girl.
And it was a girl and a boy.
Look at that mom in the trailer. I can practically feel the "showbiz mom" vibes coming off of her.
This trailer perfectly illustrates a realization I had while reading
the Juliette megapost on Reddit, which was set up to be this grand confessional. I realized it was rather some prevaricating obfuscatory bullshit narrative as I read this part:
Because if Juliette had grown up with a mom (or a dad, or both parents) who was like a showbiz parent (like Lactatia's mom, or the mom in the above trailer), going from screen test to screen test, being judged by photographers, agents, his own parents, Juliette must've learned very early on that appreciation was contingent on having good looks, that he needed to please mommy by looking cute and getting casted. He also might have been comparing himself to female competitors who were getting more casting gigs than him and might have envied those girls. And once he grew up and was no longer young and cute, his self-esteem went down the drain and he went online to LARP at being someone else. Yet at no point in his Reddit megapost does Juliette ever stop and consider what being a child model did to him in terms of his self-image and whether there was any lasting damage from that experience. He only mentions being a child model in passing to justify using up his savings as an adult. Perhaps something really terrible happened while he was modelling? Something so terrible that he has pushed it away?
I think I can tell why Juliette is reluctant to discuss his child modelling and how this shaped his ideas and values. It's just too obvious and pedestrian, whereas the tall tale he has spun in his Reddit post where he supposedly only became an online pervert after he hacked and trail-blazed his way on the wild west of the early civilian internet in the 1990s, that's a more "cool" cyberpunk narrative than the other option, that of admitting "I was fucked up by my showbiz mom, who made me compete with other kids for roles at screen tests and this affected my self-esteem well into adulthood". The cyberpunk narrative ("I hacked my way into the secret world of online porn") flatters Juliette's ego and his perception of himself as a child prodigy and
/r/iamverysmart only to justify his wholesale rejection of his intelligence as a fuckdoll bimbo. But it's clearly not the whole truth. The truth is that Juliette's ideas and values were warped long before he got online. In a Reddit AMA from 7 years ago Juliette said that he's on good terms with his parents but hey, a lot of seemingly happy families have skeletons in the closet:
I'm not sure if you're asking if they [parents] know and approve that I'm TS, or know and approve that I'm in porn, but either way the answer is yes. I'm sure they'd be a bit happier were I NOT in porn, but it doesn't seem to actually bother them -- they had concerns in the beginning, but ultimately decided that I'm their kid no matter what, and so long as I'm not putting myself in danger and am happy, it's okay.
I'm very fortunate, in that respect. I love both my parents very much.
