I don't even care if he does that. If you care how someone plays a video game you're exceptional. All the bellyaching about his lightning spam in DS2 and refusal to switch stances in Nioh 1 and letting Yukari get charmed repeatedly in Persona 3 is pointless. It's all just Phil being Phil. You can laugh at him or mock him but if you're getting mad that means that you somehow are expecting something else and if you're doing that then you're not paying attention.
What's really shitty about this aspect of his bizness is not that people help him, it's that he squeezes them for money for the privilege of doing so and then turns around and calls them idiots when their help can't overcome his inept gameplay.
I agree with you, and getting angry with Phil is pointless. But I can understand why it happens.
With Phil, there is this level of arrogance that exacerbates people's emotions. Other streamers accept handholding, but they'll be gracious and friendly with the chat, while Phil will take credit if their advice works, and yell at them if a piece of advice doesn't work (which is usually just him not understanding what was said). Some streamers will probably use guides, but Phil will obviously use a guide in secret, brag about his independence (which he previously said wasn't supposed to be a source of pride), and ban any mention that he may have used a guide. Other streamers will ask for help, but I've never seen one put down the controller and refuse to play the game or speak until they are given help. And this is all within the frame of Phil's legacy, in which he used to viciously shit on streamers for accepting help from their stream chats, but now that he is doing it, believes he is above reproach.
It's Phil being Phil that gets people unusually riled up, because he always finds a way to be a contrary hypocrite
while he is being dumb and cheesing.
wtf is he doing with his arms
The best part of his bizarre arm tics is that you can see he's still jiggling (presumably vigorously bouncing one or both of his legs), almost the entire time he is holding that pose. Just like his rocking, you'd have to be completely spastic to find any comfort in those tics and poses.
