Comicsgate Hangers-On and Drama Whores - A thread about some guy who's mad about Star Wars and the neckbeards obsessively stalking him

Is Ro feuding with TUG too now?

Someone is going to have to make scorecards so a person can keep track of the CG implosion as it happens.

I'd say it's probably that Ides of March cover that was only available for 24hrs.

Oh Noes, poor Newman's 'lil rage boner's gonna go all floppy again....

What did I do to earn so much attention from you little Gator?

Worry about your own boner Comicsgeist. If mine was meant for people like you I'd get a job in a group home.

I will give this to warcampaign: they sure are putting the gay in gay ops

And once again, Liam's stream is being called to be the battlegrounds of CG. The fact that "TUG" and "Gay Operative" appeared in the same tweet, well, we have our proof now. It's suspicious enough that the correlation might as well be causation.

SWC brought up a point about "phantom backers" in Rekt Planet. Meaning, they didn't buy anything, money is just being thrown in without claiming anything.

It has 5,459 backers atm.

1,512 claimed the Honeycomb Box.
702 claimed the Jae Lee Comic.
403 claimed the Death Sting
1,840 claimed both Rekt + Salamandroid
43 claimed Headsketch.
73 claimed 2 Rekt + 2 Salamandroid.
2 claimed 10 copies of Jae Lee.
21 claimed original pages.
9 claimed original Salamandroid pages.
1 claimed Survivors cast.
1 claimed the limited variant.

Add all that up. It's 4,607.

There's 852 phantom backers who didn't buy shit. I'm gonna eyeball the number here, but that's around $80-$120 each person would have put in. Each. Who are these phantom backers? Slushfund confirmed? Copies sold =/= amount of money made. His one limited time variant cover was being priced at $10,000. Just let that sink in.

I posted this on the main comicsgate thread, but I should do it here since you are spinning retarded conspiracy theories.

Anybody that follows these indiegogo campaigns knows that the dollar amounts and backers numbers rarely match the perks. This goes for CG and non CG campaigns.

Here's the explanation:

First off, a person can back a project without selecting a perk. Say giving 5$ to the project. That accounts for the additional backers that are not listed in the perks section. That also accounts for additional money.

Second, I believe that the shipping costs are included in the total. That accounts for A LOT of the extra money.

Campaigns where the money and backer totals match the numbers in the perks are a lot more suspicious in terms of astroturfing, IMHO

So is this a comics selling business or a charity asking for donation for an autistic frog book? It still doesn't change the assumption that people are putting in money into the campaign to inflate it's success.

Shipping costs, as Ethan said in the main thread, is usually $10. If we do the numbers, that's approximately only $50,000 that came in through that. Unless more money is coming from international backers, which tend to have a higher shipping cost. But considering that international backers account for less than probably 10% of backers, I don't see that being the case.

I didn't say the numbers needed to match exactly, but the fact that they have a very different split in this case is suspicious.

EDIT: I'd also like to add that shipping costs is not a net gain in profits. It means Cyberfrog didn't actually make the amount of money Ethan's gloating about. It's not at $600,000+ like he's advertising, because shipping cost is obviously spent on shipping. Nothing else. He doesn't get money from the shipping cost.

No dude, it's not suspicious at all, as I explained to you. Don't just try and retreat to a fallback position when your assumptions are shown to be dead wrong.

Most of the money difference is shipping costs, and the backer difference is extra contributions.

This is crowdfunding and people have always chipped in without expectations of a product. A lot of people probably watch Ethan's streams but aren't terribly interested in his Frog book, so they chip in as a thank you. Thirsty dudes give many thousands of dollars to e-thots on twitch for less.

And your assumptions are probably wrong again. It might not be 10 shipping for the honeycomb box set and other perks.

Who's falling back? "this is crowdfunding" isn't sufficient explanation for shit. Ethan isn't an e-thot, , there's almost no correlating evidence that enough people gave him money as a "thank you" to the campaign. If anything, that money could have gone to just superchats, not the campaigns. I wouldn't discount the idea that some probably split the money between superchats and donations to the crowdfund.

When it comes to shipping, it's usually the weight and distance that is factored in. I doubt the Honeycomb boxset is set to weigh that much more to cause a significant offset. It still doesn't change the fact that Ethan isn't profiting from shipping costs, and that the "success" he's gloating about isn't as big as his head is making it out to be.

You're falling back, my friend. You weaved a conspiracy theory about "phantom backers" that like most conspiracy theories would have fallen apart if you had just considered some basic realities - Indiegogo controls the platform and the campaign numbers are their numbers.

I mean, that's elementary stuff. Anyone should be able to figure that out from the jump.

But instead of acknowledging that your post was completely and fundamentally stupid, you tried to change the subject to "well, Ethan is still a poo poo head anyway and his success is kinda fake" will trying to insist that the totals are still "very suspicious".

And then you're just adding more thoughtless spew on top of it. "Ethan isn't profiting from shipping costs"? Says who? Ethan will keep whatever is left over from shipping, he ain't handing it back. And I'm betting it's no small sum. But that's besides the point, the point is your original post is horseshit.

Oh, what's proven to be elementary is your reading comprehension. I didn't "weave" the theory. I merely did some speculation on my own part based on what SWC proposed, which by the way, they aren't claiming to be fact either. If the "phantom backers" thing turned out to be false, it wouldn't matter, because my entire point was to prove that Ethan's lying about how much he actually makes. Thanks for adding on that Ethan's probably profiting from shipping costs, that's the thing I wanted to hear. You've clarified that he's essentially ripping off people for a product that is horseshit, much like your assumptions about thing.

EDIT: The postal services allows people to profit off shipping as well? Since when, may I ask? If he's doing that, then clearly, that's unethical business practice.

It's true by the way, you can choose to just donate money and want nothing; there are cucks that would do this. You can also expect some of these paypigs buying multiples. That's what the Expendables campaign does for example since there are several temptations to capecucks in the movement. I don't doubt the numbers tbh.

I'd focus on the drama and if you really want to make Ethan reee, why not just look up if he does have a divorce record or whatever was brought up at one point here? Do something cool and prove that his acting like a teenage girl caused his real life to collapse or something.

Like the man is a mad cow who has to pick between useless asspat brigade or another maker, and he's picking the one that asskisses him and allows him to act like a romaboo faggot. Why is it this hard for people to just highlight the stupid, and not just fuckin' reee?

Theory and speculation are basically synonyms in this context, are you serious? Your "speculation" was beyond fucking dumb.

If the "phantom backers" thing turned out to be false, it wouldn't matter, because my entire point was to prove that Ethan's lying about how much he actually makes.

Turned out to be false? It was false from the get go, good lord. Indiegogo tabulates the numbers, there can be straw purchases but there can't possibly be "phantom backers". Do you understand any of this?

You don't prove your point by wrapping it in beyond dumb "speculation". Quite the opposite. You simply demonstrate you don't know what you're talking about.

Thanks for adding on that Ethan's probably profiting from shipping costs, that's the thing I wanted to hear. You've clarified that he's essentially ripping off people for a product that is horseshit, much like your assumptions about thing.

I'm sure you meant for that second sentence to be a sick burn, but it can't be deciphered.

EDIT: The postal services allows people to profit off shipping as well? Since when, may I ask?

LOL the shipping dollars pledged don't go straight to the postal service. How old are you? You don't understand anything.

And once again, Liam's stream is being called to be the battlegrounds of CG. The fact that "TUG" and "Gay Operative" appeared in the same tweet, well, we have our proof now. It's suspicious enough that the correlation might as well be causation.
It's not that surprising. TUG has been making the rounds to lay in the groundwork for his next comic crowdfund. Liam's channel is exploding in viewership and Liam is very deferential to TUG and other big names, so he's been showing up to give his take on the current state of Comicsgate, and "gayop" is every third word coming out of his mouth. TUG's position is that all hashtag movements devolve into egomaniacs engaging in gayops against each other - case in point the Weeb Wars drama where TUG's DMs detailing his gayops were bought and leaked, turning him into a pariah, which Umbrella argued was the real gayop, and that guys like Liam should be building their liferaft from Comicsgate, itself the self-described liferaft from the mainstream industry. His debate opponent, "OG Vanguard" Micah Curtis, stroked his beard and said "fuck Mike S. Miller" in defense of Comicsgate.

As for what Ro wanted to do? He might have wanted to "debate" him for his criticism of CG, out of frustration that Frog won't let him abuse Cecil or Malin and wanting to bully someones less protected, hijack the conversation to accuse Malin or Cecil of being the "gayop king" or just for the pure fun of humiliating TUG in front of an audience. Who the fuck knows with that guy.

Let them fight it out.

I think it's funny.

Ethan does have a previous divorce. He even has a 20-something year old son from it too.

Yep, I didn't get the digital because this asshole's work was in my spam and the deadline passed.

I won't give him credit for trying to find new venues, because he fucked over his original audience and basically made it so that no one will ever look at him again. Fuck Mitch.

The campaign page says it's only the first 24 pages. From a book that's supposed to have 60 pages of story and 8 pages of a Futurist "preview."

The Futurist time-traveled to get released before the preview?
Hi-larious!

It's nicer to say that your children come from a previous marriage, lol.

Ethan holds out big crowdfund numbers as a way to trigger the SJWs who ruined comics with a host of variant covers. Some streamers in the circles Ethan runs in also point out repeatedly that Susan takes her 30% of all superchats. It's pretty likely that some people inclined to superchat will decide to crowdfund instead, or both

I mean, he's not wrong on this. However, it's one thing to be right about something being doomed to homosexual failure and quite another to be right about something being doomed to homosexual failure by failing homosexually while doing the thing

A few weeks ago, Ethan said "we're still working out better ways to do this, give us time". When confronted with back of napkin math on shipping changes and ad pages that could reduce the costs of books significantly, Ethan immediately responded with something pretty close to "I'm making money, so I shouldn't change anything"
I believe ad pages will make the books uneligible for media mail or something

True, but putting out a few a year with ads and they become eligible for subscription mail

A few a year from a group that has a hard time getting 1 book out every two years seems optimistic to the point of delusion.

Pulido or Tim Lim could definitely do that but Ethan, Huerta, Delay or pretty much anyone CG wouldn't have a hope of getting 2 let alone 3 or 4 books out a year.

Edit:
Ro seems to have a problem with Kiwi Farms.

And also with reality, manhood and personal hygiene.
