Comicsgate Hangers-On and Drama Whores - A thread about some guy who's mad about Star Wars and the neckbeards obsessively stalking him

For all his spergery, I will admit Ethan can be quite funny in the right company (i.e. Zack, Mike, Edwin, Nasser - you know, all people who won’t go on his streams) when he inserts some non-sequitor questions like “Would you become a cannibal?”

He’s good at driving a conversation forward which is essential for a good livestream.

His best live streams were the zack, high council and early cg streams before it became therapy sessions.

yea thats true. The problem right now is that Zack has a shitty internet and i think he doesnt even want to join livestreams that much anyway. High Council is dead cause Star Wars died. And early CG streams cant be recreated cause all the early CG-ers are gone. Now we are stuck with fucking nobodies. I probably only like Dan Fraga, but even if he is on a livestream with Ethan its always the same. First lets listen to a stupid song, then lets laugh at Mike S Miller and then talk about how Marvel and DC suck, while on the other hand your stupid movement didn't produce one single book with a good story.... well, perhaps Red Rooster surprises us all when it comes to Walmart for 5$.

Mitch still needs to get kicked in the dick the number of people who backed him as a kickstarter for having the gall to do this when they fucking funded his ass, and I honestly hope he crashes and burns utterly, his dream comics unsold and burned as kindling.

It's pretty easy to make a million when the book cost 200 dollars and using the same predatory variant covers that "killed the industry".
i remember that they were bitching about this a lot, especially at the beginnig. And now, how many different Cyberfrog #1's will be out? At least 5, in less than a year.
There was also a lot of talk, how no one in CG wants to work with known characters and that they should make their own characters known. Well, listening to Ethan, he sure wants those Ninja Turtles in his comic. I mean, cmon. There is also a lot of stuff CG produces that is just a parody or a rip-off from a well known property... The point is, this guys have ZERO creativity and no writing capabilities. Spending 50$ on a comic is like spending 50$ on a crack whore. It will be fun at first, but on the end you just end up with an STD.

It's like dealing with dog vomit. That's EVSCG. They complained about other groups, claim to be better, claim they can replace the big 2 (never going to fucking happen and if it does it won't be them replacing the big 2)....... and their behavior is just like the big 2 they complain of, but far worse........ EVSCG is just recycled vomit.

SWC brought up a point about "phantom backers" in Rekt Planet. Meaning, they didn't buy anything, money is just being thrown in without claiming anything.

It has 5,459 backers atm.

1,512 claimed the Honeycomb Box.
702 claimed the Jae Lee Comic.
403 claimed the Death Sting
1,840 claimed both Rekt + Salamandroid
43 claimed Headsketch.
73 claimed 2 Rekt + 2 Salamandroid.
2 claimed 10 copies of Jae Lee.
21 claimed original pages.
9 claimed original Salamandroid pages.
1 claimed Survivors cast.
1 claimed the limited variant.

Add all that up. It's 4,607.

There's 852 phantom backers who didn't buy shit. I'm gonna eyeball the number here, but that's around $80-$120 each person would have put in. Each. Who are these phantom backers? Slushfund confirmed? Copies sold =/= amount of money made. His one limited time variant cover was being priced at $10,000. Just let that sink in.

Hidden tiers could be one explanation but I don't think @FROG does them and besides wouldn't backing a tier hide this easier?

Not to mention it could just be incompetence on IGG's side...

Anyway since you piqued my interest, his other campaigns:

  • CYBERFROG: UNFROGETTABLE TALES - 2836/ count up 2840.
  • VENGEANCE OF VAMPIRELLA ft. CYBERFROG #1 - 551/ count up 551. Well done IGG.
  • 2nd Chance CYBERFROG Chromium Comic, plus POSTERS! - 732/ count up 733.
  • 2nd Chance CYBERFROG 1998 Ashcans and Chromiums! - 918/ count up 888.
  • CYBERFROG RIBBITCOIN COLLECTIBLE COINS! - 130/ count up 129.
  • CYBERFROG: BLOODHONEY Lmtd ed. Line Art Variants! - 1072/ count up 1070.
  • ETHAN VAN SCIVER's VAMPIRELLA #1 RED FOIL VARIANT! - 911/ count up 908.
  • CYBERFROG AND VAMPIRELLA exclusive variant cover! - 1093/ count up 1092.
  • CYBERFROG BLOODHONEY TEAM UP COVER! - 4801/ count up 4788.
  • Ethan Van Sciver’s CYBERFROG:BLOODHONEY Comic Book (Sal cover) - 2048/ count up 2029.
  • Ethan Van Sciver’s CYBERFROG:BLOODHONEY Comic Book - 8566/ count up 8433.
Well I guess we can rule out incompetence of IGG, what's a few percentage points between backers?

EDIT: Problem solved, hidden tier, thanks @Comicsgeist for the info.

I'd say it's probably that Ides of March cover that was only available for 24hrs.

Oh Noes, poor Newman's 'lil rage boner's gonna go all floppy again....

No, here's the stupidest thing of all.

Wuhan Flu is utterly nuking the "industry". All of the producers basically can't release or show off their shit products to the few whales that go to those specialty stores (seriously, retards the lot of them for not trying to fix this decades ago). They have no competition effectively and how are they exploiting that?

Not at all and in fact are busy ripping themselves apart like fucking entitled children fighting over who gets the most headpats rather than be the middle aged men they claim to be. This is the time they should be breaking through and utterly levelling what's left, forming a new age, but what do they do.

Peacock about having half the fans give 1.5 times the money, slapfight about a bad cover, ostracize each other rather than build companies after realizing they just don't mesh, and refuse to fucking learn how to write a better book or get fucking writers. They are pissing away the opportunity harder than Zack did going on Rogan.

Fucking morons. The lot of them.

Wow... artificial scarcity to fool the dwindling audience of speds who speculate on this shit. Very COOL! Totally not a gimmick designed to fleece paypigs and proof Ethan is a moron like Quesadilla man.

I know, the industry gave them the gift of coofing itself into an early grave and this is how they spend their time?

If I were inclined to be conspiratorial and actually credited any of the players involved with an IQ high enough to be Machiavellian, as opposed to just spiteful, I'd wonder if all this drama wasn't being used to clean house.
EVS has been talking about a lot of 'big pro's!' coming on board, which suggests that we have achieved peace in our time, but now the generals need to slay the dogs of war, which have outlived their usefulness, and make the community safe for the influx so that Image 2.0 can commence.

My biggest complaint with CG (despite the gayops and tard cum antics) would have to be the price of shipping and the comics themselves.

Its nearly been 2 years since CG started producing comics and there has been zero innovation on a business level. All the creators could have come together to form an Image like company where they could use their numbers to bully printers and distributers into lower rates for guaranteed return business. Individually CG might produce between a few hundred to a couple thousand comics per creator, but if you combined every CG creator they would have the numbers to access some amazing deals and pass off the savings to the consumer to encourage growth.

The international shipping costs are a joke, often costing more than the price of the comic itself. It also doesn't help that the US dollar is absolutely crushing all foreign currencies right now. I ultimately had to pass on Pandemic because it would have cost me $55 in my local currency to get it, which is just outrageous. Fortunately Zack listened to people in his comments and he'll be overprinting Pandemic to so it can be added on to Jawbreakers Grand Bazaar for international backers.

This hypothetical company would not be hard to build, and every creator would retain the rights of their respective IP and profits so the only thing preventing it in my opinion is greed on the creators behalf. Why sell and ship comics more affordably when you can make just as much money charging $200 + shipping for 5 variants and a cardboard box?

In a similar vain, I completely passed on Graveyard Shift 2 due to shipping costs. The “deal” in which you get all 3 books for 75$ was one thing (I did not get the original book), but when Malin announced he was overcharging on shipping within the US to reduce costs for international backers that was a hard pass. I get finding a solution for international shipping costs sucks, but don’t pass your lack of innovation onto the backers.

thats pretty much it. How are your comics any better than Marvel or DC's? Just because you dont put SJW bullshit in there and have some girls with big tits, doesn't make it a good story.
I just wanted to say this-

When Comicsgate first developed, I was in initial support of the idea. To me, I wanted to see better writing and characters that were just normal people, not some SJW's warped idea of what a minority or a woman was.

However, what Comicsgate seems to be is just a different side of the same coin. Instead of SJW sperging, it's just conservative Boomer sperging. There is still the same level of shitty writing, characters that are warped but in the opposite direction.

In other words, it's their version of the 'good old days.'

A few weeks ago, Ethan said "we're still working out better ways to do this, give us time". When confronted with back of napkin math on shipping changes and ad pages that could reduce the costs of books significantly, Ethan immediately responded with something pretty close to "I'm making money, so I shouldn't change anything"

I suspect, but have no way of proving that his costs are waaaaaaaaaay less than he claims they are, while crying that the books have to be priced as they are. Come on, such openness to lowering prices to consumers until actual concrete ideas are put on the table?

He's working himself into a creative ghetto. Bands who produce weird music in several slightly different limited editions do fine selling the substantially same product to the same few hundred to few thousand whales over and over but never grow the audience

Mitch Breitweiser tried pitching this idea to Ethan, suggesting they print under one label, my guess "allegiance arts" and combine forces to establish a comic company.
The smartest thing Ethan has done was hard pass on that deal. From the looks of things no comics would be printed outside of the shitty Walmart model which is destined to fail.
Mitch buttfucked his backers bigtime.
They get a shitty PDF maybe @smugfrieza can upload it to the farms since he was exceptional enough to not refund this massive faggot.
Here's the latest update -damn right it went straight to spam- only a week left to download a comic that should have come out years ago.

Edit: Two reviews for Red Rooster if you're interested, a positive review from JDA and a negative one from the SWC brothers.

Yep, I didn't get the digital because this asshole's work was in my spam and the deadline passed.

I won't give him credit for trying to find new venues, because he fucked over his original audience and basically made it so that no one will ever look at him again. Fuck Mitch.

I just saw the email today and realized it's the 19th not the 16th.
He's a piece of shit that's for sure. Mitch only cares about himself and he has done absolutely everything in the most retarded way imaginable. Its hard to fathom a dumber way to go about this. He's fucked up at every turn and done the opposite of what an intelligent person would do. Every chance he's had he made the wrong decision. Fuck Mitch.

Well if JDA says it's good...hah just kidding I don't give a fuck what JDA thinks but I don't blame you for not doxing yourself. Watermarking with your email is a new level of paranoid. Scans will be online as soon as the book is printed anyway so we'll have it then. Kind of annoying though.
