Just for Goonwaffe the corp, for the alliance they've got a fuckton of plebs. A handful of people post on the thread still, mostly bittervets. Goons of 2020 aren't the same goons that took down Band of Brothers.

Most goon groups (with few exceptions) will have to drop the "goon only" requirement in order to keep membership up after the "goon rush" fades out. They all also typically have a "you can bring a friend/family member/whatever non goon with you" at the start as well.

For example, the WoW Classic guild(s) - at launch they were super strict and needed 2+ guilds to fit all of the goons into, meaning they had in excess of 1,000 players active. Not even a year later, they're down to not being able to fill up 1 guild and actively trying to recuit ("We've laxed the rules, we don't have to all be goons, you can invite pubbies") and under 200 active accounts - a drop off of 80% or more of their active player base in the span of 9 months.

The only exception to the rule seems to be the FFXIV guilds, which seem to be holding steady at 1,000 or so players.

That is the sole implication anywhere on the site that the Hotline will keep users' information secret, and "confidential" as expressed here can be interpreted in multiple ways. There do not appear to be any actual terms of service nor anything else that would protect users of the Hotline from having all of their personal information monetized and/or spread across the internet.

There's an old adage that "if the service is free, it's because you're the product." But I'm sure the Hotline only sells $15 pairs of socks.

It's also troubling because this hotline is almost certainly outsourced to a bunch of shady Indian companies that likely give 0 shits about what Anita puts on her website in terms of guarantees.

If I wasn’t at work I’d dig up some of the stories, but yes. Erotica One eventually got permanently banned from EVE after somebody stirred up a shitstorm about one particular session, describing Erotica One’s actions as literal torture. The GMs, always happy to appease an angry mob, responded by rewriting the rules so that it’s bannable to get someone to willingly hand over all his virtual shit on the promise of getting it back once unspecified out-of-game conditions were met.

e: Here's the concern troll post that raised the original shitstorm leading to Erotica One's downfall. The link to the recording of the victim eventually throwing a tantrum is now dead, though.

The ability to mute and ignore player messages should've made this whole idea null and void. But this is Anita we're dealing with here, so you know she's just trying desperately scrapping for relevancy again and die trying. I don't think anybody will even make use of this anyway.

Quarterpounder's video made it abundantly clear that this thing is nothing but a chatbot with canned responses to phrases like "taken out of context" or "GDC cancellation" or "my poopsock is full and I can't reach my feet to take off my other sock and start anew." Hell, it probably just defaults into ELIZA mode after long enough.
