Oh God, this is amazing.

Not because it will be good, but because Western media corporations can't die fast enough and this will only accelerate their death. They are killing all their old IPs so fast it is making my head spin. They killed Star Wars and Star Trek. Now they're going for 'Saved by the Bell', fuck yes. This will fail so amazingly hard it will be beautiful.

Also 'Saved By the Bell' was trash. So burning trash, nothing of value was lost.
 
When I read about the whole giving the privileged kids a wake-up call part about the show, I can't help getting the image of a cast of Jessie Spannos of different races and labels. Except that this time, these Jessies aren't allowed to be wrong and or let alone told off.
 
The biggest question is what convinced them this was a good idea. Someone got paid to green-light this.

That it will be complete ass cancer is a bygone conclusion. The only question is what form the tumors take and how fun they are to mock.

It's a mix of creative bankruptcy, blatant pandering and desperation.

'Hey, Millenials apparantly loved SbtB when they were forced to watch reruns of it as kids. They love trans people as well, right? Let' s just remake the show but with a tyranny lead! SURELY THIS WILL SELL!'
We will be looking back at all of this shit 20 years from now wondering what the fuck people were thinking.

Of all the things to do a woke reboot of, why Saved By The Bell?

I wasn't aware that show had any market value, even as nostalgia bait.

Only way a Saved By The Bell remake can work is to do as an explicit late 80's/early 90's period piece and play it off like Happy Days did with 50's nostalgia. No woke pandering, no trannies. Even then, it would probably still suck.

I completely agree. What would be more woke than having a person with a severe mental illness included in the cast. I mean, there's so many ways they could mitigate her mental illness. Have her skype in from Hawaii with her new husband, and make a touching episode where she discloses her condition to everyone.
 
Has the nostalgia+woke combo ever actually worked, financially? All I can think of is Star Wars, but the last couple of those have underperformed.
 
If they're not going to use the Zack Morris phone then there's no point in watching it.

Ya know what? Given how much of an unending hellscape of hackfraud shittery and autistic incompetence literally every franchise reboot has become these past few years, I would not be at all surprised if the saved by the bell reboot wound up somehow being unironically amazing and enjoyable while still being true to the cringy cheese of the original series

I say this not out of any affection for the original....because jesus christ that shit was painful.....but because this godforsaken timeline is so fucking warped that only this fucking reboot being the only good reboot would fit perfectly with how reality seems to be twisting just to spite us

Given that Sonic of all things was one of the first video games to break the "video game movie" curse earlier this year, anything is possible.
