The tranny should be Screech...Screech was a proto-coomer and the coomer-tranny pipeline is well established.
I feel like creating right wing cultural backlash is an intentional marketing gimmick by studios at this point. Nobody would discuss these dogshit reboots at all if there wasn't some kind of controversy around them.
It'll underperform anyway but it's better to have media buzz about it and people seeing it to make youtube rants/own than incels, than not. The people involved can also protect their reputations by painting criticism as fascist and themselves as self-sacrificing woke allies who made bad career moves for moral reasons.
If Ghostbusters 2016 starred 4 mediocre male comedians then would anyone have cared besides fans? But then they got feminism involved and it became a widely discussed culture war skirmish intertwined with the whole panic over gamergate and the alt-right. You had to see it and like it to fight fascism. Same will be true here if they can pull it off (they might not bc there's not an obsessive nerd fandom around it like there was with Ghostbusters).
You know what, I think you hit the nail on the head on this one. I really do.
I think Ghostbusters 2016 was an unintentional trashfire at first since it was one of the earlier woke reboots and back in 2016, the whole "Get Woke, Go Broke" meme hadn't fully solidified like it has now. But thanks to the bullshit controversies that were drummed up over it, it probably did better than it would have without being dragged into the culture war.
But ever since then, it's become more of a "cover your own ass" tactic for a lot of these reboots.
I first thought that the controversy over Joker may have been Warner Brothers trying to generate hype using similar tactics for this reason, but seeing just how utterly autistic the fear-mongering was and how incompetent Hollywood execs usually are, I'd say that was more likely Disney trying to preemptively "cancel" the movie to keep out the competition and avoid the possible derailment of their MCU gravy train.
As for a reboot of Saved By The Bell, I mentioned earlier why anyone would even try to reboot it in this day and age. Even as nostalgia bait, it has almost no market value. At best, it's a mostly dead meme known for being an "unintentional period piece" of the late 80's and early 90's.
My personal theory is that the rights were about to expire and revert to another company, so they're doing a reboot of the show to hold onto it for some unknowable bureaucratic reason.
