Two 8-month-old pit bulls that were loose in Nanaimo attacked several children, severely injuring at least one. Other people that came to aid the children were also injured.

The children were playing in a yard at the house of one of their friends. The dogs were from somewhere else in the neighborhood and had been cited for being at large previously.

One of the owners of the dogs came and got the dogs but did not stick around. The news interviewed the other owner, a Dangerhair that looked to be in her late 40s or early 50s. While she was devastated at what her dogs had done, she said to the reporter, "People are saying, look at this from the prospective of a parent, well, these dogs are my kids, too," and then she broke down crying.

It was later reported both dogs were euthanized, as there have been other incidents prior to this one, and due to the severity of the injuries the one particular child sustained.

To the dangerhair dog owner I would have to say, "If these dogs were your KIDS, you did a lousy job of raising them. Thank heavens you didn't spawn any of your own."

I remember my cousin got a dog that was only half pit and that fucker scared the shit out of me. He would just stare at you whenever you came to her house. Just stand in the yard and fucking zero in on you like a motion tracker. Eventually they had to get rid of him because, surprise-surprise he bit a chunk out of one of her kid's cheeks.

It's funny, my dog is half Jack Russell and is scared to death of mice. Guess he got the wrong half.
I actually like Jack Russells a lot. But I know that they can be nippy. I just never had an issue myself. My dog still has tons of energy even though at 15 he sleeps a lot more. I don't know how he runs like that. It's a good dog if you want to run and play a lot with them. But you may have to keep up for twenty years. Because they never seem to run out of steam. Not a good breed to get if you are older or can't/won't expend some energy,

I am used to handling rottweilers and german shepherds. But I would never recommend one to a novice. Also, both breeds are subject to hip problems. I really wish shepherds hadn't been bred into that ridiculous stance.

Bulldogs are bred to be so fucked up anyway that they cost a fortune to keep healthy. A lot of them have bad overbites, breathing problems and need a c-section because natural birth can kill them.

I think anything bred to have disabilities for aesthetic purposes is really sad. That's inhumane and another argument in itself.

Last week I was walking to Walgreens and there was a pitbull wandering around outside dragging a leash. It was rush hour and she was petrified of the traffic and kept trying to hide under parked cars. I was afraid to move because I didnot want to walk past her and I was also afraid of being followed since she saw me and I was only a few yards away. So some lady starts yelling "Your dog out!" and then a guy comes out of the same house and says "she keep gettin' out" and brings her back in. The only thing keeping her from escaping the porch was a big piece of old chipboard propped over the gateway.

So this guy tied his dog to an unsecured porch and wonders why she keep gettin' out? :cringe:

Nigga, your dog gonna be gone.

All TyQwaan need to see is that dog wandering around and he gets a free dog. You'll never see that dog again. There's already one missing around here and I doubt she ever got found in this hood.

So many people with pittbulls have unsecured yards and porches. Thereos a guy around here who fixes cars. And in the summer he had a pitbull on the porch all night to keep people from taking stuff. The fence is like three feet high ancient wooden dowels.

If you insist on a dangerous breed you better have a big, secure fence that locks up tight.

For the first little bit of our marriage Mrs. Dude and I had a Dachshund (Rocky) and Toy Fox Terrier (Apollo). Fox Terriers are very similar to Jack Russells. I had Rocky before I met Mrs. Dude and we got Apollo as a puppy after we had a miscarriage to give Mrs. Dude something to love on until we could get pregnant again and to give Rocky a friend to keep him company when we were at work. Shortly after we got Apollo he developed an infection in his throat called Strangles and he needed tubes put in to drain the infection. It changed his bark into more of a scream than a bark. When our first son was born we were worried that Apollo would hurt the baby's hearing with his bark, so we had his vocal cords clipped. Sadly, we think taking away Apollo's ability to indicate when he was upset or didn't like someone by barking turned him neurotic and he became nippy. After he attacked my aunt's foot, we had to put him down. It was really difficult because he was my wife's first dog that was "hers" and she was really attached to him.

Rocky was the best mouser/ratter that I ever saw. Better than cats. My mom had chickens for a while and there was a mouse and rat nest under the coop. Her cat Pete would play with the little vermin, but wouldn't kill them. Rocky would come take the rat or mouse from Pete and kill them. He was born for it.

Absolutely horrifying. Thank you for sharing.
As I read more about pitbull attacks, I just can't believe that it's the owner and not the dog. There are too many cases of people who just look like stellar owners getting mauled by their shitbulls. Sure, they COULD have secretly been bad owners.. you can't really prove that they weren't and I guess that's the appeal of the argument. But I don't think that can possibly be the case when there are so many of these instances. They can't all be bad owners. It's so unlikely.
At this point, I feel like some famous dog trainer would have to get mauled for people to rethink "it's the owner, not the dog." But even that wouldn't really stop pit nutters.
There's also the fact that there many other bad owners with different breeds of dogs and those dogs don't maul as many people.
Pitbulls are banned in the UK, and they have proportionally far fewer fatal dog attacks than the US. Many of the remaining fatal dog attacks are illegal pitbulls people have anyway. If it's just shitty owners, wouldn't those shitty owners have moved on to a different breed?

There are several breeds that are related to Pibbles/Staffordshire Terriers to the point that they could be mistaken for them. Dogs like American Bulldogs, Bull Terriers, Olde English Bulldogges, Doggo Argentos, etc. They can be aggressive to an extent (American Bulldogs and Olde English Bulldogges tend to be less aggressive than the others) and could definitely do some damage, but they don't have the long history of tenacity, viciousness, or fatal maulings. Like most dogs, they'll bite and get away. Shitbulls keep attacking, even if there is no threat. Like that video about those two Pibbles in San Francisco attacking that Pomeranian mix. They worked as a team and kept coming back, even though the other dog was 1/10 their size and had been incapacitated.

They say that man is the only animal that kills for fun, but with Shitbulls, the instinct to kill is so strong and so ingrained that I think they do it for fun.

I'll never understand what the fascination with dog fighting is with the scum of humanity. It's always crackhead niggers, white trash meth heads, and border-jumping setbacks. I know animal cruelty isn't exclusive to criminals and the low class, but it seems like its usually the worst that humanity has to offer are the ones who enjoy watching animals rip eachother to pieces.

I wonder if there's been studies between empathy levels versus criminality. I mean not just the tv/movie drama of sociopathy or whatever, but people who are just slightly less empathic being fine seeing animals tearing each other apart.

Or if it's a learned thing, I mean the whole gladiator games of Rome were considered normal at the time, where as now a day of full slaughter of hundreds of both men and animals for entertainment would be seen as grotesque. Even with torture-porn horror movies like the various Saw movies there's the knowledge that it's fake. So someone who's learned to ignore society's expectations on some levels just continues to go deeper into rejecting society's standards.

I could never ever watch a dog fight even if it was shitbulls....

But I will definitely watch two dumbass chickens tear into each other in a Thai arena. You ain't lived until you throw down 20 bucks to watch poultry go at it.

Am I alone in my empathy for animals is pretty much mammals and some reptiles? Birds and fish are just dumbass retards to me

what is really weird is it used to be high class entertainment for well off British people, that is where these dog breeds originated.

The reason why only trashy people are into it now is that it is a quick way to make some money, or keep other trashy people from stealing your shit. It is the ADT of the ghetto.

I could never ever watch a dog fight even if it was shitbulls....

I've watched videos of it online to learn about the dogs and what they are bred for. It is eerily quiet, even when they grievously injure each other. These dogs are abnormal in a lot of ways.

Despite being banned, pitbulls caused 7% of dog bites in 2019.

Becky Hills Cop actress mauled by pet pitbulls:
We're told doctors inserted pins and stitched up her arm but she remains hospitalized.

Mark tells us Heather will now require nearly a year of therapy to recover. As for the dogs, Mark says they have every intention to keep Buddha and Baby because they're huge pit bull advocates.

It doesn't take much reading between the lines to suspect there was an "oopsy" some time in those three weeks.

Poor kitty.

I doubt they vetted the animal's compatibility with cats all that closely. They probably saw the shitbull didn't immediately try to tear down the enclosure separating it from a cat on the other side, so they spun that as being proof of cat-friendly behavior. I imagine the fast cat movement triggers a kind of hunting response in the shitbull.

My county animal shelter just puts these dogs down because of rescues lying about the dogs history for the simple fact the dog wasn't aggressive with them.

When these idiotic rescues claim the dog is anxious or nervous ... I guarantee the dog has snapped on an owner, someone else unfortunate enough to come across it or another animal just below the level of getting animal control involved .

I know everyone has heard the “it’s the owner’s fault for poor pet handling” reasoning millions of times, but it is true. The problem really is that many pet owners genuinely have no interest in researching proper pet care or behavior signals, and seem bewildered when their animal does something violent/dangerous/life-threatening. Children are even more frustrating in this regard, because they genuinely don’t understand, and their parents typically don’t do anything to teach them. Then you get people/kids who are even more clueless attempting to interact with said pets, which means an even more precarious spot.

Like yes, a predatory animal specifically bred to hunt and catch prey, will instinctually try to hunt and catch prey, especially when bored or hungry. A baby animal will explore surroundings and sensations, using its limbs and mouth, because that’s what babies do to learn. Animals that are territorial will do things that mark territory, because they want to secure their limited resources and feel safe. Animals that feel insecure or anxious will lash out. It’s basic behavioral stuff, but people get so distracted by Wow Cute Puppy that they underestimate how much care and empathy their dog needs, which ends in bloodshed.

When I am king by divine right, I will launch all pitbulls into the sun at mach 50.

Wait, lemme get this straight...some F-list celebrity Karen gets her armed mauled by her Shit Bulls because one attacked the other out of jealousy, requiring surgery, pins, and sutures, and they've decided to keep the animals? They're going to keep both dogs after they've proven to not only be violent to eachother, but also violent to one of their owners...because they're "advocates" for the breed. Some people just can't take a hint. These people are living in Beverly Hills, so they're obviously well-off and likely spent a good chunk of coin getting obedience training for their Pibbles. If this doesn't convince people that it IS the breed and not the owners, then I don't know what will. Ban the breed.

The arm attack sounds like redirected aggression from her trying to physically intervene while the dogs were fighting, which you don’t do with any dog unless you don’t like having arms. Even throwing a blanket on top of the aggressor would have been safer and more effective.

I guess my main concern is that if pitbulls were eliminated as a breed (which would be very hard since “pitbull” isn’t a single breed) then another species would be scapegoated as Most Violent Pls Ban because people don’t understand that having domesticated pack-hunters as pets could be dangerous.

Always the victim's fault when the pibble nuts up, in other words.

Here's a complete list of excuses for pibble attacks in case you missed any.

I just want people to take more responsibility for their actions in general maaaaaaaan. If humans are gonna assert themselves as super epic Apex predators, they shouldn't act like domesticated animals are cuddly living toys and focus on rationally reasoning their behavior.

If "routine activities" cause them to go into a mindless killing spree there's something wrong with them.

Lets be honest, If you are just sitting there and breathing, it's enough to set off a Pit Bull. Pits are scary, scary dogs. They have this look in their eyes like they are sizing you up at all times, just waiting to lunge.

I grew up around working/hunting dogs and I never feared being around them. There's just...something off about pits that rile up the old 'danger' instincts.

@millais 's post reminded me of something.

My ex-uncle built a really cool cat enclosure in his backyard. He built it around a tree so they'd have branches to climb on and made other jungle gym-type things for it and had a box for them to sleep in. He'd let his indoor cats play in it and then bring them back in after a while (he lives in the woods and he doesn't want the cats to wander and get eaten by a coyote). Years ago he and his wife took in some orphaned kittens and when they got big enough he kept them in there most of the time to separate them from his adult cats. They planned to raise them, keep one, and find homes for the others.

Neighbor's pits got loose, ran over to his house, chewed through the enclosure (enforced chicken wire), killed one kitten, and caused another to have to have its tail amputated. Two were mostly unharmed (I think there were four, maybe three kittens). Uncle came home during the attack and shot one of them. Other pit got away.

They're too far-gone in the virtue signaling.
