Marvel Cinematic Universe

My thoughts on it was that she wasn't supposed to be policing much of anything and that she had just been protecting Skrull refugees the entire time and just didn't bother with much outside that. Like why weren't Thor or Odin concerned with him, either? Odin was supposed to be like the motherfucker of all motherfuckers throughout much of the universe wasn't he? My interpretation is that even f people knew of Thanos, he was just one "really strong guy" in a universe of "really strong guys" until suddenly he had two of the stones and then it became a much bigger problem.

I haven't seen Captain Marvel since it first came out, but (from what I remember) the movie led me to believe that she was out to end this "war" against the Kree, to prevent whatever was left of the Kree from invading other planets, to create a symbol of hope for planets that had been devastated by them, and to provide aid for those people (like the Skrull refugees). Ronan has a direct connection with the Kree, and Ronan was destroying innocents all around the galaxy for Thanos post-Captain Marvel's solo movie. I don't see how Captain Marvel wasn't able to hear about Thanos at that point. I feel like it should have been common sense to keep tabs on who was left of the Kree. If Ronan had not been in the movie, then I think I could give it a lot more leeway, but the inclusion of him just makes me scratch my head about other stuff.

For Thor, there's a simple explanation: The 9 Realms. The movies made it clear that the 9 Realms are where Asgard's priorities were (until the events of Thor: Ragnarok, of course). Being relegated to those nine planets and societies for the most part, Thor didn't know that someone was after all of the Infinity Stones (Sif only went to Knowhere to leave the Ether/Reality Stone solely out of Asgard's interests, not so much the universe's). And remember: Thor was on a years-long quest from the end of Age of Ultron to the beginning of Ragnarok, which was roughly the same time Thanos had attacked Nedavellir and had entered one of the 9 Realms himself. Thor didn't know about it until it was too late since he had a lot of shit happen to him in Ragnarok.

We could also chalk it up to Odin being a terrible king for not taking interest in what happens outside of the 9 Realms, too. He led a planet full of people, and most of those people were ignorant, spoiled, and unprepared. He sucks, lol.

I don't think Amazon will buy Disney outright, but I wouldn't put it past the Rat to sell one of their major IP's to Amazon if things become too financially difficult. I don't think it will be Marvel or FOX though.

More likely, I could see them selling the stuff they have from A&E and History Channel or certain specific IP's in the Fox library.
ESPN, doesn't Amazon have Thursday Night Football on twitch?

Marvel related so I'm putting it here.
I'm watching the MauLer reaction to the Crisis on Infinite Earths special. The shitty customes and special effects reminded me of a reality show where couple of people competed to be a superhero and Stan Lee was the judge.

The show was (at least as far as I remember) pretty nice. I loved the first test where the heroes had a competition to quickly don their outfit and run to a goal. The challenge had a twist of a little girl crying on the way with the right thing to do is help her.

Good luck getting this to sell in China lmao

Wiccan/Hulking stans are insane

I'd ask what this "Hulkling" crap is and why we're not getting She-Hulk. But based on Captain Marvel and current Hollywood mores, I'm afraid of what they'd turn the sex-positive, fun She-Hulk character into. In fact, the current comics have already made her into some kind of abuse-survivor metaphor.

Shame. She's potentially a really good character. Bruce's cousin, a nice but slightly timid lawyer who is badly injured and saved by a blood transfusion from Bruce, same blood type. She subsequently can "Hulk out" but it's to a much lesser degree than Bruce and she retains her intelligence but is essentially juiced up personality-wise, filled with confidence and lust for life. You could turn that into a pretty interesting MCU character and movie.

Funny thing is that would be a better "role model" for girls that the MCU/Woke crowd is trying to push then what they'd likely do which is to make her a bitter asshole to everyone around her thinking that being a dick is the same as being empowered.

Nignog they announced a She-Hulk show months ago.

Two white gay superheroes is too much for China. They will never be properly explicit about it because China and Bob Iger.
They'll make Hulking black and people will rage.
They'll make Wiccan an azn and people will rage.
They'll have limited gay characterization and people will rage.

Young Avengers would be a mistake. We gotta please our China emperor

iirc I thinkg I've heard ESPN is one of the few regularly _actually_ profitable chunks of the Disney empire, rather than "profitable"

It used to be in the height of cable, where ESPN was effectively just subsidized by every single person who paid cable because ESPN could Demand 20 dollars a month from Cable companies to carry ESPN..which back in the days was the only way to get sportsball news so Boomers forced ESPN on everyone else. ESPN has been on the Downslide as a brand for a decade though and getting rid of it now would make some sort of sense.

Hey @Syaoran Li, you mentioned that there's rumored internal problems within Disney and Marvel. Is this somewhat true or is it just Marvel Entertainment only?

I don't know all the details but I've heard from various random people on the internet that there's some sort of internal struggles at Disney/Marvel and maybe some financial fuckery as well. The two most recurring rumors are that there's disputes over creative control on the Marvel side of things regarding the woke and aimless direction of Phase 4 and that Disney may be cooking the books on some of their more recent releases to please shareholders.

Again, I don't know any actual details and it's likely just internet bullshit, but since we do know that Disney did do a lot of shady stuff to make Captain Marvel a hit (like buying tickets in advance to boost box office sales) and probably did the same with Episode IX, I'm not going to dismiss it entirely.

I'm probably going to have to do some more research and sort out all the actual details. It's probably internet bullshit, but with how much of a shit show Rise of Skywalker has been, I think it's something worth looking into to see if any rumors can be verified.

I'm very curious into that as well because we all know Iger is stepping down next year and it's very interesting to see where Marvel goes under the new CEO, unless there's conflicts between the new CEO and Marvel.

Plus, Fiege recently become the newly-formed Chief Creative Officer for all Marvel, so I'm wondering if he and the new CEO will get along or not.

No, you don't know that. "CosmicBookNews" broke that information and kept "updating it" in between news stories where they accused Roman Reigns of faking cancer to try and get people to cheer for him at wrestling matches. It's one thing to say the movies suck but harping on this shit makes people look 'tistic as shit.

The hacks from Captain Marvel have been shitcanned, and the WandaVision writer has been picked to do the sequel.

Curious to see if this improves anything since allegedly WandaVision is supposed to be story-heavy with Wanda slowly losing her shit trying to cope with a dead Vision, and I would hope that would suggest a lot of the Whedon-esque "whimsy" that was just shat all over the movie would be removed from a sequel.

The story suggests that they're looking for a female director to make the film. That means they will have a female writer with no experience paired with a female director with little to no experience.

The comparison to Birds of Prey is apt. Female writer, female director, and the studio literally yanked the film out of their hands after principal photography to give it to the stunt coordinator because the women at the helm made such a fucking mess of it.

Don't hold your breath for a good Captain Marvel film, because this won't be it.
