Question for our people who know more - if someone isn't listed as an attorney of record for any parties on the case, is there any reason why their notice of vacation should be taken into account for scheduling? Seems like if you have multiple law firms for multiple parties, you could always find someone in the office at one of the places who's going to be out of town and could use that to try and prevent a lawsuit from going forward in a reasonable manner (not necessarily suggesting that's what's going on here - just wondering if there would actually be anything wrong with the opposing party filing something that would fall within the dates of Orozco's fairly lengthy vacation.)

It's a good point but it's just a matter of courtesy. If the other side constantly abused this point of privilege, for instance, just blocking out any conceivable time to do something that had to be done, you could probably just ignore this bullshit and say they either had to show up or fuck off and default or whatever.
