George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch volunteer acquitted of homicide charges in the 2012 fatal shooting of unarmed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in Sanford, is suing Martin’s family, prosecutors and others involved in the case he claims rested on false evidence, according to a copy of the suit sent to the media Wednesday.

Zimmerman is represented by Larry Klayman, a high-profile legal crusader tied to conservative causes and the founder of Judicial Watch before splitting with the activist group.

The suit in Polk County Circuit Court cites information in a documentary about the case that accuses the Martin family of engineering false testimony, and the director has scheduled a press conference this week in Coral Gables to coincide with a film screening there. The suit seeks $100 million in civil damages, alleging defamation, abuse of civil process and conspiracy. A copy of the suit was distributed to media Wednesday by the movies’ director, Joe Gilbert. The case does not yet appear on the online docket of the Polk court system.

The lead defendant in the suit is Sybrina Fulton, Martin’s mother who became a national figure in the wake of her son’s death as a campaign surrogate for Hillary Clinton and a national advocate for social justice and reducing gun deaths. She’s running for the District 1 seat on the Miami-Dade County Commission being vacated by a term-limited Barbara Jordan in the Miami Gardens area.

Martin lived with Fulton, then a county employee, in Miami Gardens, and was visiting his father, Tracy Martin, in Sanford on Feb. 26, 2012, when he died in a gated community where his father’s fiancee lived. Martin was returning from a store with candy. Zimmerman, 28 at the time, reported Martin as suspicious to police in a recorded call after 7 p.m.

The details that followed remain in dispute, with Zimmerman claiming he was attacked by Martin and defended himself. Police and prosecutors described an unjustified shooting of a teenager in a hoodie with Skittles and a drink. A jury acquitted Zimmerman of all charges in 2013.

The lawsuit presses the Zimmerman version of events, with allegations of efforts by the Martin family to produce a false narrative through dishonest accounts from witnesses. The suit also names prosecutors in the Zimmerman case, alleging false prosecution, as well as book publisher Harper Collins over the October release of “Open Season: Legalized Genocide of Colored People.” The book is by Ben Crump, who represented the Martin family. Crump is also named in the suit, which states all defendants “have worked in concert to deprive Zimmerman of his constitutional and other legal rights.”

Crump, Klayman and a campaign representative for Fulton did not respond immediately to requests for comment.

Última edición por un moderador:
This whole story was a perfect example of nuance being thrown out the window, people acting crazy and getting riled up, and the news media sensationalizing and using the situation for ratings.

It was horrible all around.

I think Treyvon was a punk kid (not the sweet little angel the media tried to paint him as) and I think Zimmerman is an asshole (not the Aryan Whitey Mcwhite-white the media tried to paint him as, but still an asshole), and unfortunately, these two crossed paths and created a shit storm.

To use wrestling terminology, there were no babyfaces here. This was a heel program.

It's like he wants to be known as the world's biggest asshole
No, his problem is that he's a victim of attempted murder and the media made him into the world's biggest asshole.

How would you fare if after you barely escaped with your life from someone attacking you, the president sends people to organize protests to have you arrested? Zimmy voted for Obama, by the way.

Zimmy was fighting the cops because the chiefs white son killed a black kid and got away with it.

He's got nothing to lose and if he was the unhinged asshole everyone claims, he would have gone on a shooting spree by now. I can't imagine how he could have any faith in the system.

He didn't and doesn't have the money for good lawyers. Having your life ruined doesn't pay well.

Trayvon was an innocent 17-year-old teenager.

Oh my God! He smoked weed!‽‽

Fuck man that's not helping, that makes it look dumb. Even the gun one, so fucking what? Stick to the facts, no need for stupid character attacks.
Trayvon was a nigger and he got shot because he was behaving like a nigger on chimpout mode.

Hell yes it matters.

How old were you when this thing happened? Eleven or so right? I can understand why your memory of the situation is so confused.
I was 15-16 around that time. You're right; my memory of that was fuzzy. All I remember was again, Zimmerman called the cops after seeing Trayvon walking through his complex, the cops said don't follow him, Zimmerman did and shot Trayvon nearby the complex.

Reading through legitimate posts from this thread: I learned some extra details.
  • The dispatcher told Zimmerman to stay put, he didn't.
  • Zimmerman was still on the phone while following Trayvon.
  • One of them said Help!
  • Trayvon tussled with Zimmerman by smashing his skull to the concerte, then Zimmerman shot Trayvon.
  • Zimmerman has prior run ins with the police, even a distrust with the local PD.
I have a bit more sympathy for Trayvon in this situation, because he's a young kid. Key word, bit doesn't mean I am defending Trayvon. Based on Zimmerman's history, he's the worst of the two parties. However, MSM blew this basic Florida altercation out of proportion. This could've (and SHOULD'VE) stayed local news in Florida, and taken care of with state court.

I may be biased based on my perception and similarity with Trayvon, but I forgot about this whole incident up until Zimmerman's extravagant lawsuit. It doesn't help that a number of posts on here are mainly racist /pol/ sperging, which rationalizes the whole race argument.

Suing the family? Douchey. I think they were selling t-shirts and crap during the trial, but outside of raising a shithead for a kid, I don't think they did anything to him.

Suing the prosecutor when the case was complete bullshit? Yeah I'm fine with that.

How Zimmerman's case against NBC was dismissed I have no idea. The doctoring of the police call was utter bullshit.

  • One of them said Help!

So you trust the post that said that someone called for help, but filtered out that it explained that it was definitely Zimmerman who did it?

You know, generally when you acknowledge bias you're supposed to try to work against it. This reads more to me that you're trying to posture as reasonable without actually changing your stance.

If it wasnt for white people executing random black kids in the street like this the total amount of black homicides in the US would be nearly negligible. White anglo skinheads like zimmerman are responsible for something like 95% of black homicide victims.
