It really is pretty cult-like in the way that transition is offered up as the solution to any unhappiness. It reminds me of those free "stress tests" that Scientology gives out, where no matter what you answer the test comes back saying you need Scientology to cure what ails you.
You have body issues? You're trans! You jacked off pretending to be a girl? Sounds like a repressed trans girl to me! You had a strained relationship with your family? That makes sense, it's because you weren't living as your authentic self!
Then when you transition and you're still unhappy you're told "you're unhappy because of transphobia! If people weren't so transphobic you'd be living your best life!" and that's why no amount of support or ass kissing from "allies" is ever good enough, they're still unhappy even though they did the thing that was supposed to make them happy, so you must be doing something wrong.
You even get the sunk cost fallacy like in a cult. People throw a lot of money and time and sacrifice friends and family for their transitions, even if they do realize maybe it wasn't the best choice they feel like they can't go back because they've given up so much already, might as well keep going.
