Comicsgate Hangers-On and Drama Whores - A thread about some guy who's mad about Star Wars and the neckbeards obsessively stalking him

If you haven't seen it, you should watch Comic Book Confidential. Not only is it a very good documentary, it gets into the sales figures for Cerberus pre and post essay. I'd contend that it wasn't as bad back then, but it was still bad enough to cut his business by at least half

The comic itself had become fairly incoherent by that point, and I think that had more to do with it than some kind of SJW backlash.

I'm not saying the work is misogynist. I'm saying that publishing that essay anywhere, not just in the context of comics should have been expected by a reasonable person to produce something along the lines of the results it got, and the creator can be a misogynist while at the same time the work is mainly about something else. Comparing a possibly LSD brain damaged muslim/christian/jew to le edgy fedora tipper isn't really an apples to apples thing

Cancel culture is about digging up a previously unknown indiscretion. Mr. Sim photocopied and mailed out copies of his misogynist dick. He wasn't a victim of cancel culture
No, I got what you were saying.

It's the end of Church and State, right? With the ascention, the Judge, the invasion of the SJW Hate Mobs and their Cancel Crossbows Cirinists, the giant tower of skulls, right? The essay is proof about the author's beliefs, that women are an endless cosmic creativity suck that destroys good men?

Not exactly an original idea or alien sentiment. Never thought of it as some statement about the sexes so much as a question to chew on. The protagonist ends up at this point in his existence where he is confronted with this desperate, basic concept of the opposite sex. And it happens in the middle of the story, a climax after which all the gag humor ends and heavy, depressing ideas prevail.

Imagine if Cerebus was female and the cosmic roles were reversed, i.e. the female light and the male void. Would that thought be taboo, would it be enough to call it misandry? Is this really supposed to be a cosmic revelation or is just the subjective bigotry of the Judge (who we later see as a skeleton)? Elevated to a cosmic level, can resentment against the opposite sex have meaning, or is the universe actually a cold, uncaring place? Does an author ever have a justification for even telling such a tale?

Have been struggling with these questions since the comic was originally published. It's just a heavy thought, stupid labels like 'misogynist' never get it right. Feels like Mr. Sim was issuing an invitation to virtue signal and every comic book personality of the day took advantage.

Also, le fedora tipper did a shitton of drugs, Paris wasn't that kind to him. The Man in the Macintosh was a dealer from when he was a clerk.

Not being too familiar with the narrative of the book, why did it have the drop by about half immediately after that particular issue then? or so is my understanding, which could be wrong

There's no doubt Sim said fuck you to the industry in a hilarious way.

So, don't ask questions and just suck the comicsgay dick no matter what, even after the gay op has been proven and a couple of members went insane. Got it.
You pulling a complete tard out and screeching at easily confirm-able and shown to you events doesn't help in getting what you want. See literally every other spazz who has tried this route and then nuked their chances at highlighting said lunacy and gay ops because they themselves were too retarded and spastic to not implode.

Like at this point I'm almost tempted to say that you kamikaze like fucknuggets are a part of the whole thing and your purpose is to explode spaghetti out and nuke yourselves the moment that your "targets" get put on the crosshairs to distract others from said gay shit given how this shit is like clockwork whenever serious discussion kicks in.

Lmao Edwin tried to copyright strike @FROG over some dumb shit.
Definitely not watching the video but Edwin, this is retarded. You're not going to hurt EVS claiming SJW lolrights to your dumb opinions.

Theres literally artwork of Edwin getting ass fucked by Matt Lewis but Ethan making fun of him is what triggers this.

Christ Edwin, to quote you, WWEVSD?

The more I watch the Comicsgate drama, the more I'm reminded of COINTELPRO Techniques for dilution, misdirection and control of an internet forum.

The Eight Traits of the Disinformationalist seem to apply equally to SJWs and the Mike Miller / Edwin Boyette crowd. You can kind of watch them following the steps in order, it would be nice if they switched things up from time to time.

Anyways, DMC ops are the choice of faggots.

DCM is the gayest of all ops other than pointless lolsuits. Edwin can't take any criticism apparently.
He's picked a fight with EVS to virtue signal. We have come full circle. This is worse than when pros were doing it because Edwin was a target then and employs the same tactics.

This kind of retardation only makes Ethan look good, so it's in EVS's interest to spin that wheel because everyone is laughing at Mike Miller and this desperate attempt to punch upward and miss.

They picked religious virtue signaling over selling comics. The reason MSM was denied from kickstarter probably has more to do with the fact he's already fulfilled the campaign and KS is for works in progress. His attempt to expand his ponzi scheme through KS being rejected for hateful conduct is just their woke and broke wannabe union employees trolling that stupid faggot more.

Here's the thing about Doug, Mike and Edwin.

At first, this just looked like sabotage, Ethan was in the way of their own star shining brighter so they wanted him gone. That would be fair, that's just selling hot dogs and wanting to get rid of the competition. It benefits CG fans because it encourages creators to produce a better product.

Then I read the Dave Sim letters, where Mr. Sim and Edwin were going back and forth. For a long while, Edwin been sending letters on behalf of Comicsgate creators and putting together a network. He also has Indiecron, which he says he's operating at a loss.

I want to know why. Why does someone take on administrative duties and try to do deals, why is someone looking to influence the subject matter of videos (that TUG video only references content he got from Edwin,) why is someone investing time / resources in a website to promote a movement where he had no direct interest, why does someone start talking about punching down. There is no reason for his fingerprints to be all over the place, but there they are.

Doug, Mike and Edwin are all self-professed Christians and the catalyst for their departure seemed to be Ethan's objections to Mike harassing Gay Pride month. Mike and Edwin were really interested in offing Warcampaign and made a lot of damning claims that don't seem to be supported by facts. Exchanges between Ro and Mike and Edwin seem especially charged.

My feeling is the three of them want to co-opt Comicsgate as both a movement and a commercial effort. Not sure to what ends, but controlling who Ethan talks to, what he talks about, and when he says it seems really important to them. Mike is getting a little attention off getting kicked from Kickstarter, Edwin did that video, now he does this channel strike (over something he knows better than.)

For his part, Doug has been inviting some high-profile guests to his channel to for interviews, and it looks like his channel is growing at about 1/72nd the rate Ethan's did over a similar timespan. Mike's audience, OTOH, is not growing. I can kind of see how he's attracting CG dissenters while also pulling some audience away from Mike.

It all seems pretty greasy. None of them have to talk about Ethan, they could be building an audience without bringing him up all the time. I remember what it was like for Imus when Stern was on his ascent, he tried a lot of moral posturing and sanitizing that didn't have the intended effect - all the cool kids listened to Stern, Imus shared audience with Rush Limbaugh clones.

Guess I'm saying we are watching a DMC campaign in progress, it's just a weirdly inept in its execution. Maybe someone close to them could send a copy of the handbook so we could see some more competent ops?

He took on admin duties to try to control comicsgate. But you can't control a tire fire inside of a giant dumpster.
They want to establish their own comics code and use their indie pusher site as a means to coerce creators into following their dumb guidelines.
Look how they used it to attack people already, including the WC.

Oh, well, that makes sense.

Comicsgate seems to consist of 4 groups:

- Anti-Comicsgate, the largest, consisting mostly of SJW Comics Pros who tell fans they are wrong for liking it. Most notable for confusing the size of Twitter hate mobs for size of their audience. Examples: Mark Waid, Heather Antos, Joe Quesada.

- Comicsgate, the most significant, consisting of creators who publish books & video, and the fans who love them. Examples: YBZ, EVS, Malin.

- Belly Aching Comicsgate, old-school but cantankerous, consisting of comics fans with righteous complaints who critique the industry. Examples: Capt Cummings, Sgt... uh... someone... uh... there were more but didn't create anything and have been forgotten.

- Religious Comicsgate, the least significant, consisting of Doug, Mike and Edwin. They are mostly concerned about Ethan and Christianity in Comics, in that order. Seem inspired by SJWs and want to replicate their efforts in fight against persecution of Christians.

@FROG is absolutely right about one thing. One groups delivers value to comics fans. Other groups work to stop them and they are the problem.

Other segments could include Warcampaign, Undercover CGers, Comic Shop Owners, etc. but they don't matter in relation to the question of who is pulling this DMC bullshit.

It's amazing to watch creatives try to enforce the same shit that nuked the non-capeshit comics back in the 50s.

And what they're actually doing is making CG look like the autistic shitstorm of mewling manbabies that it actually is, wrecking its value for all of them.

Not a damn thing wrong with manbabies, as long as they're high T and don't make their hair blue.

Wrecking value would be the effect, but what is the goal? Their actions suggest something other than profit.

I have no idea. Some autistic dick measuring contest? An adult game of King of the Hill? Who knows? It's embarrassing and cringy, though, and at least some of the people involved should know better.

The censorship with the NBA, South Park, et al as me wondering: how much is Marvel Comics censoring canon to please their communist masters?

Found this piece about Punisher fighting in the Sino-Kong war. We used to call that Vietnam, but Mark Waid decided that's not right anymore...

Was thinking about Dr. Wu from Iron Man. You can be forgiven if you don't remember him, he only appeared in the international version of the movie. Tony flew in to ask him a question and immediately flew away, he was a token character meant to get the film into Chinese theaters.

I originally read about this on WaPo and NyTimes. Was surprised to see the articles referencing the placement and criticizing the token aspects are gone.

The Joker made more in overseas sales than domestic. Feels like we are the less important audience now.

More I could say on it, would love to know what other people are thinking.
