I spent plenty of time with Dice and used to be part of his band for a period of time. I'm most likely giving my age range away but probably not my identity as I don't think there's records of all the different people that passed through is band through the years and no one knows what instrument I played in his band, anyway. But what I found most interesting is that his real life persona is completely opposite. He's a real timid, nebbish, Jewish guy. Very polite, soft-spoken. I mean, he's from Brooklyn and I'm from the border of Brooklyn and we all grew up in the same circle so all the musicians and him knew each other which is how I got involved with him to begin with.

It took a minute in the band to get a handle on it but it makes sense. I'm sure psychologists would refer to it as an "alter ego" or something but "Dice" is pretty much everything that "Andrew Silverstein" (his real name) isn't. And "Dice" allows him to project this larger than life persona and lets him get away with behaving how he never would in real life.

What I found interesting, is that Andrew either never fully grasped that people can't separate him from his persona or maybe it's just hard for him to see it from his perspective. And he always had the hardest time reconciling that. To him, "Dice" was such an over-the-top, overblown, egotistical person that there's no way in hell anyone can think that's real, but night after night, gig after gig, when fans would come up to meet him, it would boggle him that people really thought "Dice" was who he was.

I mean, he gets that people dig the persona and it's not that he has problems with people throwing his lines at him. That's normal and he digs that people dig it - but rather it was that he never thought that people would see the persona as real and then try to emulate it, which sadly happened more often that not. For example, some fan would come up to him after the show and be like, "Hey Dice! Last week I picked this chick up in my car and told her to suck my cock, and she said no, so I opened the door and kicked her ass out on the street! Ohhhhh!" And they'd be looking at him waiting for this grand gesture of approval from the king, and he always had this expression that looked like the biggest mix of horror and confusion and actually be like, "Why? Why would you do that to someone?". It was always awkward. More so for the person that just embarrassed themselves by just admitting that they're emulating a persona, not a real person.

If you're quick, you pick up on it immediately when you first meet him and adjust accordingly. For me, when I first met him in the band, I said, "Dice, it's great to work with you." and he said, "Please, I prefer you call me Andrew. And it's very nice to meet you also" in an almost Woody Allen like manner.

If anything, after being around him, the Dice stuff has become way more hilarious to me because I can clearly see how much of a persona it is and it becomes entertaining to see him push this persona further and further and see how more over the top he can make it.

He's always been a good guy and that's why I like him. I watched a documentary about him recently and they made it clear about his on stage persona. It's cool that you worked with him. :)

I'm not being nasty to anyone in particular but I wish I could just rate everything in this thread after Alex H's suicide, as "Optimistic". Nothing is going to happen to Chelsea. Nothing. She's going to skate on this. The people who are after her are the people who already know and hate her.

If I'm wrong, I'll apologize but honestly, nothing's going to happen to her.
Karma is going to fuck Zoe in the ass once she hits middle age and is replaced by a younger piece of ass by the cucks that enable her.

Zoe is a viper in a nest of angry cannibalistic scorpions just waiting to sting her.

what happened in the late 2000s and early 2010s wasn't that they suddenly got "hijacked by left wing politics".
what happened was that video games magazines in the form of print media got displaced by internet reporting, and with that came along the displacement of actual qualified and enthusiastic writers who worked for the print publications by talentless bloggers who wrote for the news sites.

with that change in personnel came a general decline in quality and standards, a change towards clickbaity and dishonest reporting, and increased influence of (left wing) politics.

Not entirely. In Europe/UK, the gaming magazines were infiltrated by SJW anti-life kultists in the late 90s/early 00s. In particular, Keiron Gillen (who later made the move to comics) was notorious for being part of the vanguard for this SJW infiltration, especially as the bulk of his reviews were him bitching about politics, shitting on the US/Bush, and spending 90% of his "reviews" talking about his pets or how unfair it was that life as a grown-up wasn't like how it was shown on the UK version of Queer as Folk/how unfair it was that he couldn't find his very own Aidan Gillan (who at the time was only known as the hedonistic male lead on QAF and who was not related to Kieron).

Gamers in the UK HATED Gillen and his bullshit non-review reviews. And his magazine and Gillen hated video game fans for simply existing and even mocked gamers in one issue; where instead of a review for some game, they ran Gillen dressed as a mime and "notes from the editor" text telling readers that because people bitched about the non-reviews Gillen was writing, they were now going to run "pictorial reviews" with Gillen as a mime "reviewing the game" through gestures.

And Gillen was one of several SJW comic industry cultists (along with Khouri and Kelly Sue DeConnick) who recently had one of their friends, nuke from the internet, a quasi-private forum where they used to shit post and post all sorts of stuff they were TERRIFIED would come out to bite them in the ass and cost them their careers.

I saw the. Dice man on some weird cooking competition with his wife. He did not seem with it at all, seemed like he had Alzheimer's or dementia or something. They won though, his wife did everything.

Pretty sure she's already tried some low-tier wrestling training that's tied to a nowhere federation, and she got exactly nowhere, because they probably didn't think she could be non-performing talent, like Elizabeth, or any of the other eye-candy that populated 80s/90s wrestling. Hell, ZQ is objectively less interesting than Luna Vachon, definitely less able to take a bump, and comes across as vastly crazier, which is saying a fuck of a lot, considering Vachon's character was like a female version of George 'The Animal' Steele, with boobs.

I've joked that she quit wrestling when she realized her "in" in the world of pro-wrestling was Joey freaking Ryan; a complete and total failure in the business (washed out of TNA, ROH, and WWE) who could only rise as far as opening match jobber. A man who no one gave a fuck about until he started an X-Rated gimmick of using his privates to "bodyslam" people and even then, couldn't get a gig at a major indie fed due to the X-rated nature of said gimmick. Not somone who could be exploited and used to infiltrate/rise up the power structure of the indie wrestling scene.

Which is ironic, as Ryan himself is a huge freaking SJW type and is a total believer in the SJW notion of using dirty tricks to try and destroy peoples careers. Except unlike Zoe, Ryan fucking sucks at it as his attempts to ape Zoe to destroy the career of wrestling legend Jim Cornette (who Ryan blames for ruining his career by not promoting him up the card when they were working at the same companies at the same time) backfired due to left wing wrestling fans not being THAT pozzed to allow the SJW death kult to take over wrestling and the wrestling news scene.

Wait wait wait, what are they doing to The Addams Family?

Give it to me straight, doc.

IDW has hired Zoe to write a one-off Adams Family tie-in for the upcoming animated movie.

The special itself is pretty much going to flop regardless, because of the bullshit where the animated movie is based on the New Yorker cartoon incarnation everyone fucking hates and not the 60s TV show version which is the only version of the Adams family people give a shit about.

The question I'm asking to those currently supporting Quinn is why they are supporting her is why the hell are you supporting an employre of the company that is behind the alt right dogwhistle that is the Joker movie?

I agree with you in terms of legal repercussions; Alec's sister being a factor or not, Zoe won't have to deal with anything on that front. And yes, in general, I think she'll skate by mostly untouched by this - certainly in terms of in the public eye. But there are two little things I think that have caused an impact.

Firstly, I think she'll have the 'Zoe Killed Alec Holowka' millstone around her neck for a long time. It might not be particularly accurate, considering I'd put the instant rejection of people like his NITW co-workers as being even more of a tipping point, along with the question of how much you can drive someone to suicide. It's also unlikely to include the even more damning post where she used his suicide to suicide-bait herself, and then plug her upcoming work, which I think deserves to be remembered at least as much as the original callout. It's unlikely to cost her any of her current gigs. But for the foreseeable future, everywhere she goes, Alec's name is going to follow. Like it or not, he's going to haunt her.

Secondly, I think she's lost some support amongst the game dev/programming/hack sphere she's mostly associated with. Not in public - she's too important to the narrative. But I think the more mercenary women, the ones who were looking forward to their moment of prominence due to their attempt to start a #metoo moment with indie gaming, the ones who were hoping to use it to get revenge on specific men, or use it to help their grift (like Anita Sarkeesian), or just to increase their power and leverage - I think they harbour a little resentment towards Zoe.

They had started their #metoo groundswell, potentially at least a little coordinated. They had begun to mobilise. And then Zoe comes in with her #metoo story, drawing focus, and then the guy she accuses kills himself, and suddenly it's all only about her. The accusations stop, the men have time to regroup, rebut and reply without the heat of the outrage mob on them, and the conversation shifts. They'll never be able to admit it, but for a few of those women I'm sure they resent Zoe for taking their momentum away, or even just taking away their chance at the spotlight with their brave victimhood. And that resentment? That's the kind that festers.

So I think that Zoe has lost a bit of support. It will be gradual and subtle - fewer likes and retweets, for example, maybe one or two articles that aren't written. A little more wariness in dealing with her. Expect Zoe to try and dig as deep into comics as she can, because she'll likely sense there's a couple of gaps in her safety net of ass-patters from the tech side of things.

But I do think while nothing particularly obvious or negative will happen to her because of this - she won't lose any jobs she already had, her various scams won't suddenly be held against her by any of her supporters - that there will be at least a shift against her behind the scenes. We're extremely unlikely to get a satisfying blow-up or drama from it. But there are people who don't care she might have killed Alec, but do care that she killed the attempt to further #metoo into indie game development.

This sounds interesting. Links to anything that would expound on this?

It's the kernel of a growing potential critical mass of opinion that this cancel culture shit in general, and the shit that Zoe Quinn personally represents, needs to end.

Anyone who hoped to make money off that grift is going to resent the person who ruined the scam.

If anyone's interested in seeing old Zoe instagram posts, I have some. They're pretty cringy. Also, in her comment section in each new instagram posts, there are people leaving comments making fun of her for Alec's death. To which she responds, "People corroborated my story. You being here, pushing me to commit suicide is so ironic that it's not even funny, Get help".

That reply she gave is very indicative that she's having trouble keeping her cool. Maybe pressure behind the scenes is bigger than we thought

She already did. The movie didn't get made but she optioned her shitty book, apparently to Sony. You can thank Amy Pascal for that shit.

Imagine optioning a book that didn't even make a bestseller list and is now heavily discounted just to get the thing off a store's inventory. I understand this happens all the time in the literary-slash-film world, but still. Zoe has never had a successful track record in any of the industries she forced herself into, so it's very cow behavior for Amy Pascal to still option stuff from someone with a legacy of fail.

There's a reason that dumb cunt got fired. Her reign at Sony was an absolute, unmitigated disaster, with optioning a grifter's shitty ghostwritten bullshit lie-filled book only one of her smaller blunders.

Her mindless white knights on Twitter can be such grave dancing pricks. It's not even worth the good boy points for defending her.

I hope she doesn't get bullied by Zoe Quinn and her white knight goons.

Here's a bonus.

I've seen a tweet of her claiming something like that, but it was in response to people asking her about her kickstarter game. So she made a hysterical "I'm a victim" response saying she's gotten two part time jobs to pay for the development of the game because the kickstarter money was not enough. Not sure if it was before or after her Japan trip or plastic surgeries.

So I'm putting it up as a lie, unless there's some other tweet of her talking about that.

Fair enough; assuming that Zoe Quinn is telling a lie is probably a good example of Occam's Razor.

It's perfect for Zoe. Harley represents a quirky bad bitch with a psychologically abusive ex boyfriend and she now spends all her time having a lesbian-adjacent friendship with Poison Ivy where they can cuddle and gossip.
As nasty looking as Zoe is, I shudder to imagine what her Poison Ivy equivalent looks like.

Chelsea has a cameo appearance at the end of a 2013 small crime thriller movie called Aftermath.

I've never worked in the industry but I've been a fan long enough to have read and heard about enough to know Zoe would get chewed up and spat out in the wrestling business. In an industry where hazing has only recently been phased out "muh victimhood!" is not going to get her anywhere.
