Disaster Shooting At STEM School Highlands Ranch (Colorado) - Two Shooters - One Dead, Eight Injured

One 18-year-old male was killed and eight students were hurt in a shooting at STEM School Highlands Ranch and police say “two shooters” were caught by officers running into the building. Both suspects are students at the school.

The school is located approximately 8 miles from Columbine High School in neighboring Jefferson County.

Denver7 reported that investigators believe at least one of the suspects stole the guns from the parents of the 18-year-old suspect,

Douglas County Sheriff Tony Spurlock confirmed that at least two handguns were used in the shooting.

High-ranking sources told Denver7 Tuesday night that three handguns and a rifle were recovered but said the rifle was not used in the shooting



HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. – One student is dead and eight others injured after two of their classmates opened fire at a suburban Denver STEM school on Tuesday.

Superintendent Thomas S. Tucker said in a letter to parents that STEM School Highlands Ranch, a public charter school with more than 1,850 students in kindergarten through 12th grade, will be closed for the remainder of the week.

"This is a terrible event," Douglas County Sheriff Tony Spurlock said. "This is something that nobody wants to happen in their community."

Kendrick Castillo, 18, was identified Wednesday as the lone fatality, the sheriff said.

One suspect is a "female juvenile," police said after originally identifying the teen as male. The other was identified by police as Devon Erickson, 18.

It is certainly true that these school shootings and similar events are mostly committed by white men. And I agree that we should take a holistic look at the causal factors large and small that lead to these incidents - but my point is that society doesn't do this, and they draw the line based on whether the perpetrator has the right melanin level or gonads. A muslim bombs a synagogue and we're not supposed to look at the bad teachings he may be getting from his family and religious leaders, because if he's muslim then of course they most likely are too and you can't do that because it's racist. Instead you look at all the "other" societal factors which really means pinning it on islamophobia. Meanwhile if a white guy shoots up a school, he's at fault, and don't you dare look at his societal background, unless you can pin it on acceptable targets, which means christians or republicans. That "don't look at family/religious teachings" thing suddenly isn't bigoted when we can safely assume the perp comes from a christian background. This is why half the time you argue with people about the migrant crisis you just get "but what about the crusades and Westboro Baptist Church?" It's asinine and it is clearly about starting with a politically correct conclusion and then selectively pursuing only evidence that serves that conclusion, while other evidence is dismissed as "bigotry" no matter how much there is.

Look at this current story of CAIR complaining that muslims are being treated unfairly just because it came out we've got schools full of muslim children singing and cheering about exterminating jews. Go find me one group of christian youth somewhere in rural Michigan or wherever who are being taught to heil and cheer for Hitler, it'll be a national news scandal immediately. But if you're browner than the people you dehumanize then it's okay to cheer for genocide.

None of this talk about responsibility would be such a hot button if the rules were applied equally, but the fact is that no matter who commits an act of violence or terror, the usual suspects' MO is to find a way to blame it on white Europeans. It's treating whites like the only adults and everyone else as mindless monkeys who can't be held responsible. Culpability in the media and academia is like little kids playing a game of duck-duck-goose but if you ever say "goose" on a poc, the teacher gives you a timeout and then twitter demands you be kicked out of kindergarten.

And while this is pure speculation on my part, if you really want to get holistic then maybe there's some self-fulfilling prophecy that more events of mass violence are committed by white males because more pressure is put on them to take responsibility/blame for the imperfect world we live in and they're given no option to ever not be the villain, and basically being told "suck it up pussy" whenever they have a problem while everyone else's feelings are constantly celebrated and their complaints constantly validated no matter how trivial. And it's a little insanity-inducing to constantly be gaslighted into this narrative that pocs have all the pressure when clearly they get way more passes from every institutional power there is. Does that sound like crazy or whiny bullshit to you? Okay, now please go say the same to the SJWs who drop everything to immediately drone about "but muh negative environment and cycle of poverty" the instant anyone gets critical of the level of black-on-black gun violence. I think you can have both or neither - I prefer neither because when everyone acts like babies the world will fall apart - but any claim that it shouldn't be equal is disingenuous hypocrisy.

Do you think that one of the reasons school shootings and similar events are a white male dominated career is because there's just more white men in the country? As, in the rare likelihood for a school shooting to occur, it's just sort of a numbers game that decides it will most likely be a white male?
Like we shouldn't ignore patterns but I remember reading something about most American serial killers being white men, but it turned out there was plenty of black, latino, and Asian serial killers, it's just that murderers tend to target their own race and therefore the ratio of serial killers by race was skewed because there are more whites in the country than blacks, latinos, and asians.

The whole "White Male" thing is a bit of a myth. And requires that you limit things to school shootings. If you look at Spree shootings the ranks of shooters are a bit more diverse. With the exception that yes it is mostly male.

I'm just going to briefly mention how whilst self-medication can often help people cope with mental issues, going cold turkey can also serve to exacerbate them.
