The school is located approximately 8 miles from Columbine High School in neighboring Jefferson County.

Denver7 reported that investigators believe at least one of the suspects stole the guns from the parents of the 18-year-old suspect,

Douglas County Sheriff Tony Spurlock confirmed that at least two handguns were used in the shooting.

High-ranking sources told Denver7 Tuesday night that three handguns and a rifle were recovered but said the rifle was not used in the shooting

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. – One student is dead and eight others injured after two of their classmates opened fire at a suburban Denver STEM school on Tuesday.

Superintendent Thomas S. Tucker said in a letter to parents that STEM School Highlands Ranch, a public charter school with more than 1,850 students in kindergarten through 12th grade, will be closed for the remainder of the week.

"This is a terrible event," Douglas County Sheriff Tony Spurlock said. "This is something that nobody wants to happen in their community."

Kendrick Castillo, 18, was identified Wednesday as the lone fatality, the sheriff said.

I think that average people are getting more used to preparing themselves for sudden violence. The last 4 attempted shootings have been foiled by people acting decisively and sacrificing themselves to put relatively unprepared shooters on their heels.

Its the same reason you couldn't hijack a plane with boxcutters in the present day.

Everyone knows how that story ends.

When it ends like it used to, with a news crew filming the released hostages and interviewing the survivors, charging a dude with a box cutter looks like a really bad idea.

When you know it ends with you crashing into a building and dying, "let's roll" sounds like the only reasonable course of action.

It's unfortunate that circumstances are leading to that, but at the same time, it's at least something positive coming from this insanity.

I honestly believe if more mass shooters were charged, then torn apart zombie style at the hands of the would-be victims, with their agonized screams broadcast for the world to hear, less people would see it as a glorious way to go out.

If you find yourself at a mass shooting event, and then find yourself in a group charging the shooter, make sure you tear open their abdomen and feed them their own intestines. Try to remember to record this and livestream it.

It seems like Devon was the one who shot the fatal bullet, but was subdued nearly INSTANTLY, while yelling, "Nobody move," You can't make this up! Was he trying to make a hostage situation?!

I think that a lot of times these school shooters get so lost in the fantasy that they have created in their heads about what's going to happen they are unprepared for the actual reality of it. I am sure in his head no one was gonna dare to try and subdue him because he had built himself up to the level of god tier badass in his imagination. I am going wager that most of us have had a fake argument in our heads where we really give someone a true ass chewing, whether it be a co-worker, friend, boss, significant other, etc. To an extent, I think that this is pretty normal especially if we are feeling angry or slighted. But in the back of our minds, we know that if said argument/ reprimand happened in real life it would play out way different then how we imagined it.

To be redundant the same concept plays out in this scenario.

I got that feeling when I trolled through Randy Stair's videos and manifesto. It was creepy and pitiful watching him descend into the mire of his own self-delusion.

It's ESPECIALLY going down the memory hole now.
Archive here. I'm fucking cackling about this:
Erickson also said McKinney threatened him into taking cocaine on the day of the attack, according to court documents.

Unsurprisingly, the article mentions a tweet (archive) by "Disability justice advocate Lydia X.Z. Brown" (fucking hell what kind of a job is that): "Dear every reporter writing about the #STEMShooting #ColoradoShooting:
* There is zero reason to publish a trans person's deadname. Especially a minor's deadname.
* This dude is a murderous asshole. Neither being trans nor having psych disabilities made him an asshole. "

Way to get your priorities straight, lady. You'd think that it'd be more important to bring justice to the person who died and the other 8 who were injured. But no, the murderer's feelings are the priority here. I'd like to say that I'm surprised, but I'd be lying if I did.

I assume they have to have a zero tolerance policy on the deadnaming thing, because even another terrible person who happens to be trans being deadnamed triggers their cognitive dissonance, and reminds them of the fact that they will never truly be their target gender.

With properly applied bullying this child would have hung themselves long before committing a mass shooting was even on the menu. I mourn the death of bullying and the positive effects that it had on our society.
They've just become nerds and play Vidya games while accepting that they were losers. Instead we get this.

This is what happens if we as society empower losers. They lash out.

I’ll be very interested to see what drugs this kid was on, if it’s mentioned at trial. blockers plus hormones plus mental illness is a pretty bad combination.
