Please remind me: are punitive damages the type that the Judge may award at his own discretion on a case-by-case basis as an "extra punishment" when the amount awarded by law is not enough to give a lasting impression to the penalized party? If that's the case, I would think that the whole of the case boils down pretty tightly to whatever defamation law is in effect and wouldn't expect any additional punitive damages to be awarded.

I mean, not only that but 1 million seems to be more than enough punishment for any private individual or even Funimation. They're not Google or Apple who could care less about shelling out this sort of money and not even feel "punished" by the court for it.

Should i post the hole in the case that could win it for kick vic or keep it to myself?

Sell it to Funimation for half a million dollars.

Basically normal damages are there to redress the wrong committed upon the defendant. They are supposed to be recompense for the damage suffered. Punitive damages are there to serve the public interest by discouraging behavior that harms the public.

What does "information in its native format" mean? Is that the indexable, searchable form Nick was mentioning before, or are they cutting them some slack?

Basically they are claiming Ronald was in essence functioning as a de facto Agent of Funimation with regard to the Vic claims. He was distributing internal Funimation information. Basically that Monica and via her Funimation was using Ron as a back door defamation channel. Of course Funi will vehemently deny this. Which will leave Mr. Soye in a rather uncomfortable place. They always turn to cannibalism in the end.
