The surgery scene in 50/50.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character has Cancer and he doesn't know if he'll come out of the surgery or if he'll die and he talks to his family before going in for the surgery. Watching it hits way too close to home and brings back too many personal memories. It's hard for me to watch.

The final two scenes of Logan:

The ending of War for the Planet of the Apes:

Última edición:
That scene in The Lego Movie where Princess Unikitty is watching her home sink to the bottom of the ocean and she's trying to console herself by naming off shit that makes her happy.
Deep shit.

In 'My Neighbor Totoro' when Mei goes missing, I tried to stop the tears but they would not be stopped.

When Anita sings 'A Boy Like That' and Maria responds so gently with "I Love Him"...and it actually changes Anita's heart despite her best judgements.

The ending...with the cat...I cried

Gigantic Mother 3 spoilers

The original game was the only piece of media that ever made me cry

How about we put all of the game on here instead - because there were too many painful scenes in M3 than I can count and thinking about them still hurts to be quite honest.

As for scenes that aren't from Mother 3 that fucked me up? Well...

This one absolutely destroyed my heart.

At least Gamma wasn't given the modern Sonic treatment, I guess.

Lots of Pixar movies get me misty eyed but this is the only one that consistently wrecks my shit. While I don't think Coco is a perfect movie, the sad moments hit you like a fucking train.

Oh God, the first time I saw it, when Coco joined into the song, I cried like a bitch.

Now for my personal examples, when I think of movies that make me cry, nothing quite matches The Rocky Movies. Even at their worst, the Rocky movies have at least one moment that at least brings a tear to my eye, and other moments cause Niagra falls to leak from my face.

Rocky 1 = When Adrian shows up at the entry way during the 14th round, I lose it. Also, the ending with Rocky calling out to Adrian gets me to lose it too.

Rocky II = Rocky speaking to Adrian while she's in a coma hits me right in the gut, and also the ending brings about tears of joy.

Rocky III = Mickey's death wrecked me as a kid and still does to this day, especially Rocky's raw and impassionate response where he just completely loses himself.

Rocky IV = For such a macho and over the top movie, it is hard to believe there are any tearjerker scenes. Even Apollo's death was more shocking and jaw dropping than it was something that would get tears out of me. However, there is one brief moment where Paulie, the biggest jerk in Rocky's inner circle, opens up to Rocky right before the fight with Drago and gives the "If I could unzip myself and be someone else, I'd want to be you. You're all heart Rock". Its a great moment because even as a kid, I realized that Paulie was saying all this because he thinks Rocky might die, and it just really hit me.

Rocky V = The flashback scene with Mickie. For being the weakest entry in the series, it still managed to get me to grab the tissue box, even if for a brief moment.

Rocky Balboa = Good God, I don't have enough time to outline all the tearjerker moments in this one. Rocky's big speeches and breakdowns, the ending, the trips down memory lane, and heck, even a deleted scene with Paulie.

Creed = Rocky's suffering throughout the film is like watching a beloved relative go through hell. The ending scene in particular got me as Donnie helps Rocky up the famous steps as Rocky struggles to make it up. God that hit me right in the feels!

Creed II = The aftermath of the first fight between Donnie and Drago in the hospital, and even the Drago's themselves managed to score a few tears from me.

Even at its most over the top, there is just something so human about these movies that impact me on an emotional level that few other franchises can do.

Good writing, be it screenplay or literature, elicits the emotion the writer intended. It’s ok to cry, emotions are human, and some people know how to get you to shed those tears.

So, Kiwis, what film or scene from a film left you wondering where these tears are coming from?

For me, it was Glory (1989). It has fantastic actors and a soundtrack from James Horner. Also, it was based on one of the best stories of the American Civil War. The ending at Fort Wagner left me shedding a tear.

Ironically enough my nigger, your avatar is from one such movie since the Room 101 scene always struck me even when I was 9 and watching it for the first time as a truly sad ending to the love story of Nineteen Eighty Four, especially since immediately before that he had been desperately trying to cling to his love for Julia after everything else had been stripped away from him.

To be honest though I have always been a massive sucker for tragic romance as my periodic animay spergings have long indicated

Ooh goodness, I have quite a few.

The ending of Edward Scissorhands destroys me every time:

The Grey Havens scene in Return of the King. It's even more powerful if you watch all the films back to back in rapid succession. Although that's not the only scene I tear up at in The Lord of the Rings. Sam's "Tales that really mattered" speech makes my eyes damp too:

People always talk about "Jurassic Bark" as a Futurama episode that made them cry. For me, the ending of "Luck of the Fryrish" beats it hands down - I never don't cry when I watch it. That whole episode's story was me and my brother while we were growing up to a tee:

The Fox and the Hound ending:

"And we'll always be friends forever, won't we?"

:'(:'(:'(

The Deep Space Nine episode "The Visitor". I cried buckets when I watched this:

And in the world of video games, the ending of the first Klonoa game shattered many a childhood. It comes completely out of left field as well. Heartbreaking:

Some things that always wreck my shit:
-It's a Wonderful Life
-Lots of war movies
-THAT scene from Coco
-The first five minutes of UP

Here are some movies/pieces of entertainment that have recently wrecked me:

The final two scenes of Logan: The part when Logan dies. "So this is what it feels like" is one of the BEST lines in any comic book movie ever. It's such a simple line, yet it means so many things at the same time. For Logan, it can mean that he finally knows what it's like to die, what it's like to have a loved one, what it's like to watch a loved one watching you die, etc. The line fucked me up the first time I heard it.

The final scene with the cross being turned into an X ... God. It was so perfect.

A freaking video game made me cry. What the hell?

I started tearing up a little bit during the scene after you defeat Dr. Octopus. Peter's final confrontation against Dr. Octavius is shockingly emotional, and it really makes you feel for Peter ... And relate to him. Peter, the eternal optimist, has his world crashing down on him because his personal hero turned out being a complete monster. The game did a great job at making the people playing the game NOT want Otto to become Doc Ock.

The scene that follows is even worse. I wasn't only crying at a video game, but I was UGLY crying at a video game with this moment. Aunt May's death in this game is one of the most gut-wrenching moments in all of Spider-Man history. I thought it was hard to watch Peter die in Infinity War ... Nah, that scene has got nothing on this. Uncle Ben died because Peter chose to do the wrong thing, and Aunt May dies in this game because Peter chooses to do the right thing. That's messed up, man. And the voice acting in this scene is SO good.

I was doing pretty well throughout the entire movie ... Up until the final part of the movie, when Ally sings the final song of the film at her husband's funeral. The movie does a perfectly-executed edit to Bradley Cooper's character singing the end of the song. That edit is was GOT to me and made me cry a little bit.

I actually watched this movie for the first time today. It's on Netflix right now, and for years, I had been hearing nothing but raves about it, so I decided to check it out.

Now I don't know what will become of the Captain Marvel movie, but Brie Larson 100% earned her Best Actress Oscar with Room. Her performance (and the kid actor's wonderful performance) are what separate this movie from your laughable and trashy Lifetime Original Movie about a woman in peril. The material and subject matter of this movie are very heavy and overwhelming at times. It wasn't a pleasant film to watch ... So it was effective.

I won't get into the context (because I'd have to type out the whole film's synopsis, basically), but this moment in the movie is what wrecked me:
