Let's rewind the clock back here as people are missing something very important.


Not too long ago a DSP Scandal happened when an email was leaked where phil went into great detail about getting money via western union and privately. Specifically he wanted that person(or anyone doing mass donations) to give him the money after January so that it would not be added to his 16k taxes owed. He could avoid having to pay more. This would benefit DSP. Now let's fastforward to the present. A suspicious donator appears and starts gifting subs in large quantities and continues to do so. It has been confirmed that DSP will not get this money until after January due to how twitch pays out.

I could be wrong here but I think our suspicious friend is not a detractor and looking to help phil and definetly keeps up with What is posted on DSPs kiwifarms section.

well if it ends up being $16k exactly in phils pocket in the end its pretty much confirmed. he keeps denying he has ever talked to this guy when asked though and even though he is a huge liar i am just surprised he would take the risk of lying about a big donator so soon after the last incident. althouygh if this guy is giving him 16k he probably trusts him to not release the info but still, kinda risky imo.
 
This whole time a lot of people expect Twitch to fucking do something, to act like a company... Until you realize the company is exactly the kind of people that appeal to Phil’s content and his ability to get a load of money for himself AND Twitch...

It all makes sense.

I don't get this theory though. For Phil to make the full 16k wouldn't the person need to spend like 25k to make sure Phil gets the 16? There are far easier ways of Dave getting the money than this. Gotta be honest this seems like autism². I could be wrong but whoever this is donating either doesn't know Dave personally, never talked to him and just has the money to throw away, or they've gotta be fucking with him. Or as much as I hate to admit it, maybe someone who just genuinely likes him.

I can't believe this is some elaborate money laundering thing to make sure Dave gets the money after January. I mean, I know Dark is a dumb cunt, but I don't think he's this dumb.

Can only purchase $5000 worth of bits a day and can only have $2500 worth stored. I think you can only purchase $250 worth of bits at a time as well, so lots of extra effort. Paypal would mean Phil has the donor's information. Could be many reasons they don't want Phil to have it. That leaves subs, for which there seems to be no limits aside from your own personal funds.

but its not THAT much more effort. if you were really wasting this much money to help dark you couldnt be assed to buy $250 a bunch of times and then cheer and repeat to get him a lot more money in his pocket?

a troll or tut wouldnt give a fuck how much twitch is taking though on the otherhand.

There's the possibility that buying that many bits in that many transactions could set off a credit card freeze or something. Who knows. I just assume laziness.

Good point. The gift sub FAQ does say that users cannot send or receive gift subs in channels that they're banned from.
I tried to give someone a sub, and the Gift a Sub button is greyed out. Why?
If someone is already Subscribed or Banned in the channel, they cannot receive Gifts Subs in that channel. Banned users cannot send Gifts in channels where they are banned.​

I don't know if Dave ever banned Tut - I know he says he did, but whether he actually did it or not is unknown to me. If he did then that lends a lot of credence to E7 being a Tut sock.

Tut wants to make the streamer dance for him, like the one time where Dave only played SFV because Tut wanted him to.
E7 on the other hand, keeps gifting Subs even without getting thanked properly.
I think it is very unlikely for him to be Tut.

right tut 1.0 wanted to make dave dance and attention. if this is tut, its tut 2.0 who now has a beef with phil, one could even say phil "owned" him and made him look a fool, a lover scorned. my guess is tut 2.0 would have an autistic plan to fuck with dave hard and some how fuck him over (not likely but he is exceptional so he might think he has a fool proof plan)

but yeah i am no where near convinced its actually tut, just brainstorming like the rest of you.
 
Just noticing, to purchase bits there is a 40% mark-up that is Twitch's cut so to give $100 in bits you have to pay $140, this means for your $140 the streamer gets $100/$140= 71.4286% of the money; when giving Tier 1 subs the streamer gets 50% of the money, and with Tier 3 subs the streamer gets 70% of the money.

Somewhat interesting as to why they suddenly switched to Tier 3 sub gifts only, i.e. did Dave have to communicate with them to gift Tier 3 subs when he realized he was giving Twitch a 20% cut of this money that he didn't have to?

Correct my math if wrong, but the difference between gifting Tier 3 subs and purchasing bits to cheer is 1.4286% in favor of bits, so the gift subs being more expedient thing sounds somewhat sensical.
 
The markup on bits appears to vary slightly depending on whether you buy on mobile or not and what currency you're purchasing in, but yeah, you've pretty much got it. With the limitations on how many bits you can have at once and how many you have per day, the subs make sense from an expediency standpoint.
 
I suspect, whether the money is coming from a legitimate source or not (stolen cc, etc), that Phil is in contact with E7. E7 started with Tier-1 subs but then moved to Tier-3. I’m guessing Phil informed him he only gets 50% for T-1 vs 70% for T-3. He probably also called him an idiot for it as well. Not to his face, but he definitely muttered it under his breath.
