You know, if he's really a misunderstood poor soul, he should show us/the fans that he improved instead of repeating the same shit over and over. This only gonna make people remember all the shitty things he posted on the internet again (which is more than 1% lol) and make new fans curious and look up what the whole thing is about.
People must have been losing interest in the game(and the farms too), so he has to bring back the drama, eh?

Also, no amount of sad anime girl videos will change my opinion about him. (that he's a perverted incel edgelord with shitty humor)

I think he secretly likes the drama. I hardly think about the crap he's done in the past anymore until he either does some new stupid thing that comes up or he himself brings up the situation. In fact, the drama tends to have been somewhat low by the time he brings this stuff up I'm noticing, I mean yeah it's still there, but all he's doing is fanning the flames which just keeps it going and starts it back up. He was doing so well when he just remained silent and stuck to progress reports on WordPress rather than making videos that had nothing to do with the development of the game and making easter eggs that will be taken out in the final game anyway because of copywrite.

He takes one step forward, and twelve steps backward...

He’s dead-on for once. Rendering the scene is incredibly expensive and for every effect like bloom or outlines you add it becomes even more expensive. This is the reason why splitscreen coop stopped being a common thing in 3D games.

A lot of games that implement mirrors and reflections on flat surfaces just wind up doing it by rendering a second mirrored copy of any object that should be reflected at the same time they render the original object. It’s a bit hacky to do it like that and takes a bunch of support code to figure out what should be mirrored, but it’s still magnitudes faster than rendering the entire scene again.

Codewise, the only thing he’s doing that causes any significant lag is his refusal to cache anything. The pathfinding for students is recalculated far more often than it needs to be and he calls a bunch of heavy Unity stuff every frame when he could just store the result and refer to it. His else-if spaghetti won’t cause lag, it’s just unmaintainable and buggy.

That makes sense actually. Though I would have thought that all of it together would have contributed considering how much of it he needs to clean up and go through. Even if they are all small percentages they would add up, wouldn't they? (I apologize, I do not know much about coding, this is just the assumption I've come to after hearing a bunch of other people talk about the coding and why it's wrong)

Serious question though, how do we know this leak is legit. I can't seem to find an edit history and any idiot can write a google doc. The author (or maybe just the person who shared it) seems to be Grey Scale. Only reason I somewhat trust the leak is because they have shown to be reliable before when leaking evidence of YandereDev mass-censoring content on the new subreddit.

@MaddieNolan , How's the investigation in to what's going on with YandereDev? It must have something to do with his upcoming video.

I can vouch for GreyScale. I helped them conduct their research and they've been in contact with me. GreyScale has delivered leaks before, why not trust them now?

oh.

o h.

also i met some yandere simulator fans in my school today, they're in the year below me.

they were making yandere simulator flex tape jokes: "to show you the power of flex tape, i sawed my rival in half!"

worst part is they like alex

A bit of some truth can go a long way to making a road of lies. Always be skeptical of what people say on the internet. I guess I'm still rather perplexed by why YandereDev is doing this. There hasn't been any drama in months. He has already done a "clearing up misunderstandings" on the blog when the subreddit was imploding back in June or July. Most of his sycophants are in his new subreddit, anyone trying to start shit gets banned. This thread was practically dead up until now. Something must've happened recently that would drive him to do this.

This video has been in the works since June, when all the drama was happening. I don't know why he's bringing it up now, but it's been planned for a while. The script may not be used verbatim when it comes out, but it's legit. Believe what you want to, but only time will tell.

If it's been in the works since June, it makes even less sense. Regardless, you're right, time will ultimately tell. I'm assuming this isn't a scrapped script.

This is a legit leak, man. He's even said himself recently there's a video "unrelated to the development of this game," coming up involving clearing up more misconceptions. I can't personally say anything, but that script, it legitimately came from Alex in an attempt to guilt his fans.

MaddieNolan is right, it has been in the works for months, and I was instabanned from Alex's personal server last night. Why ban me unless it's legit?

Getting banned from YD's hugbox isn't a big accomplishment. He'd ban you just for being "annoying" according to whatever definition he comes up with. He'd ban you for fake leaks just as much for real leaks. If he figured out you associate with Maddie, the leaks wouldn't even matter at that point.

Bro, I tried to explain this to you already, but I don't see the point in arguing over something so trivial. No one knew I spoke to MaddieNolan until she mentioned it above. I give up conversing with you. Believe them or don't, its not my issue.

I've accepted that this is a potential script way before you made this post. You quoted me saying that I've accepted it when you bought up those inconclusive screenshots. Please read what you respond to.

I wonder if he still releases the vid after us dang dirty "gremlins" got a hold of it
Honestly, he might. I hope he doesn't because it's a waste of time to make the video and it's just him putting himself in a bad light....again...

Ugh this is like a train wreck you can't look away from sometimes. If it wasn't that I want to be a game dev myself and these videos he makes are me studying "What Not To Do As A Game Dev" as well as genuine curiosity what all goes into making games I would have just left this whole thing and probably forgot it existed outside of the fact I watch a few youtubers who play the game.

Isn't genuine curiosity of the deranged mindsets of these exceptional individuals exactly why we are all here?

Besides, I'd say Mahan is as much of a case study of a poor game dev (I mean, we all known he's incompetent) just as much as Chris-Chan is as much of a case study of a poor comic artist. They are both simply just prime examples of how not to act on the Internet.

Tho with Chris at least he actually finishes his comics?

But really now, making a "Da trolls" video to "prove" he's working on the game and that its slow cause "ITS THOSE DANG DIRTY KIWI GREMLINS! FAULT :( pls send me more money"

Nah Alex your not chimping out, its the dang dirty trolls fault

i was actually having hope to see him change after he realize his spaghetti code and what's wrong with his game but then that script where he throw a sad pity party got leaked.

i should've known this is alex and why i shouldn't ever have even tiniest hope for him.

No worries, programming is weird like that.

The small bits do indeed add up, but you need to have millions of them before they actually become visible. The massive chunk of lag you get when YS renders the first frame of the school is a good example - every single student needs to do pathfinding when they load, so they all do it simultaneously and the game just stalls for a couple seconds while it grinds out 60+ paths. Each of those is probably something like 100,000 conditionals, but modern computers are amazing so it only takes a couple seconds instead of an hour.

When people say the else-if chains are a problem and he shouldn't have that many conditionals it's not about CPU usage as much as it is that his lack of structure means he's doing the same thing by hand, over and over, in a ton of different places. Rule one of programming is to reuse as much of your code as possible (even conditionals) because the less code you have the easier it is to find bugs and the more obvious the bugs tend to be since the error will show up everywhere the reused code is called instead of just one weird place.

Assume that a dozen things need to be checked in order to see if a student is able to pick something up. A well-written program would just wrap all those checks in a function and call that function whenever it was needed because this allows you to have one single copy of the logic that’s easy to update if it changes. Alex never does this and will write out all the entire logic over and over in his conditionals. Then something will change involving that logic (like the addition of the pokemon go phone game) and he’ll go through and update every single copy of it. When he misses one it results in a bug and him releasing a ‘bugfix patch’ a day or two later where he changes the old conditional he missed to match the new one.

Multiply this sort of thing by a thousand and you get the reason why he doesn’t make progress anymore - any sort of logic addition is going to involve him checking conditionals for hours since his underlying structure is so garbage.

Long else-ifs can be bad on their own (which would be another long post) but they’re a minor ding compared to not using functions to save work.

This post brought to you by my 45 minute bus commute and need to escape political banter

Yeah, in Alex' eyes bugfixes usually just consist of adding more if-else conditions instead of fixing the fucked shit underneath it all.

spaghetti coding is his favorite after all. I wish someone could fix all of the else-if codes he's put in there since it sounds like a huge mess. I don't do coding, but it sounds messy.
