Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

People hate Wind Waker because the game is not like Ocarina of Time. They don't like sailing, which is as boring as riding a horse.
At the time when Wind Waker came out people were annoyed at the child-like aesthetic because for many years people had been begging Nintendo for a "dark and gritty" LoZ game. Which they got with Twilight Princess.

Gears of War...shit, fuck gears of war. More like: Tears of War man that shit has that little bitch crying all the time, you see that commercial? Little bitch ass commercial with that song? That pussy ass song?

The Elder Scrolls games never appealed to me.

- The Last of Us is just an OK game with sub-par gameplay.
- Gears of War would have been better off quitting at 2. 3 and Judgment were awful.
- Call of Duty: Black Ops was the worst COD game compared to its Modern Warfare predecessors, and its story was a mess of predictable twists and trashy America-Fuck-Yeah!-patriotism.
- I liked Fable 2 a heck of a lot more than the original Fable, despite the stripping down of mechanics and armour variety.
- Force Unleashed's Starkiller is about the worst thing that could have happened to Star Wars (oh wait, is that unpopular...?)

I was going to write something about Killzone being a big pile of fail, but I don't think that's an unpopular sentiment either.

Fable 2 had a lot of great mechanics, it just had a lot of missteps.

Like I really loved the combat in that game. I didn't even think magic was as broken as some other people thought. I really liked how well animated it was and how flowy it felt.

However, I hated how sidequests weren't a focus like the original, and how it forced you to work and do a timing based minigame to get money. And almost everyone agrees the ending was terrible.

I tend to view Fable 1 as "better" than Fable 2. Mostly because it feels on the whole more "complete". But I would also say Fable 2 would've probably been the best in the series had Molyneux gotten his head out of his ass.

Depends on who you ask.

TFU is one of those games that has this really... meh response on the internet. I know some people that kinda like it and some people that kinda hate it. And most people are somewhere in the middle with it.

I personally kinda hate it mostly because of Starkiller being this enormous edgy Mary-Sue (who's basically every 14 year old epitomized) but also because it's unfortunately really really simple. And too simple for it's own good.

I recall in development interviews of TFU it featured the devs talking about the advanced physics system and AI. And would feature instances like the player would push a character and he'd grab into a pole and keep firing his blaster. Stuff like that, which was never implemented. And it's unfortunate because the game is really really forgettable and I forgot mostly everything about it after I completed it.

And of course nobody thought TFU2 was a good idea.

-I think SSX Tricky had better, more likable and original characters than most JRPGs that came around its time (late 90s-early 2000s).
-Sims 3 wasn't that good (I have a list why). Even Sims 4 for all it's flaws is better.
-I could never really get into FPS.
-I enjoyed Leisuresuit Lary: Mega Cum Laude. Ione's first ending is damn funny.
-I'm getting kind of sick of all the ultra-violent, "edgy" games out there. I'm no prude and there's M-rated games I enjoy (like Lollipop Chainsaw), but there's times I've had more fun playing a g-rated game (like the Delicious series). And sometimes it feels like things go a little far (like the recording in the latest MGS game where one of the bad guys forces a young man to have sex with a female prisoner of war who was also raped and tortured by the bad guy and his cronies).

I don't think Zelda is all that great of a franchise. I liked A Link Between Worlds, and I liked Ocarina of Time to an extent but thats as far as it goes. I think the adventuring is shallow, the gameplay is unimpressive...and shallow, I think the plots are shallow, the setting can be very shallow, I think it can be the same thing over and over, I think most of the 3d entries are boring, and the 2d entries are dull, and I just don't find it that engaging of a franchise. I will definitely try out the Majora's Mask remake on 3ds since I've never played that entry before, and the open world Zelda for Wii U has the potential to be pretty amazing, but for now in my eyes its just some overglorified fantasy franchise.

I think it's kind of dumb that Western releases of Metal Gear Rising changed cyborg blood from white to red just so they can be 3edgy5u, it ruins a plot point later.

I actually cared less about how Fable 2 ended than I thought I would. I'll admit Jack of Blades was fun, but there were so many parts of the original Fable that annoyed me. The Guildmaster chiming in all the time, the repetitive lines that people said in an annoying tone. Fable 2 really set its humour straight. There were so many item descriptions that were just plain funny, and the references to the original were very cool. Mass expressions was something I sorely missed in Fable 3, and generally I just liked how the game panned out. Sure the QTE nature of the jobs was a little annoying, but it sure didn't take long to amass your fortune.

It's annoying how much of a Mary-Sue Starkiller was. Far be it that Vader has this super-secret-apprentice-that-no-one-knows-about, but that he romps around and takes on both Vader and the Emperor one after the other and defeats them? His character just completely diminished the value of the other cast. Who cares about Skywalker if you have some Star-Destroyer-pulling emo running around? It just felt like total bullshit.

Yeah, that was actually something I wondered myself recently, so now I know. That aside, I loved the game. I want a sequel, and preferrably one that's longer-spanning.

Considering that he's an invincible murder machine, Cicero is the best follower in Skyrim and killing him is a stupid move.
I brutally murdered him with my strongest destruction spell, then revived him as a zombie just so I could murder him again. I'm sorry I just can't stand his annoying ass 90's cartoon voice. I mean his backstory is admittedly pretty cool but he actually ruined the dark brotherhood storyline for me.

You're missing out on a great minion. (And also the satisfaction of watching giants launch him into the stratosphere.)

- I really hated how you had to pause to see the map in Skyward Sword, it wasn't like the earlier zeldas like LTTP where navigation was simple enough. (though like the other games, I still love the art design!)
- I actually don't mind the amount of characters in the Sanic games, I like big "worlds". Some of the characters themselves though... not so much.
- Speaking of Sanic: Never liked the overall designs. Too much noodle limbs and bobble-heads. 'Cept Eggman because he's perfect.
- I really, REALLY wish they'd stop giving Charizard so much preferential treatment (solo slot on smash, TWO mega evolutions compared to Blastoise and Venusaur's one) seriously, it's just a generic orange dragon, that dies as soon as you chuck a rock at it.
- Ever since Brawl, Pit's just outright annoyed me to no end. Him and Viridi are pretty much why I'll never play Kid Icarus: Uprising.
- I loved Pistol the Porcupine Shadow the Hedgehog. Mainly because I never took the story or anything seriously given it's about an amnesiac edgehog with chronic backstabbing disorder doing bitchwork for either Sanic or an obviously evil Alien warlord because... they told him to. Kinda wish it and the rest of the series would be more self-aware in that sense.:P

- I think Destiny is kind of all right, for all of its hideously broken design.
- I liked Dark Souls 2 better than the first one until From shredded the fucking meta.
- I beat Vampire Rain. It was nowhere near as bad as people made it out to be, and actually had enjoyable moments.
- Twilight Princess is my favorite Zelda game. I thought the fact that it had darker moments nicely showed some maturity that the franchise could have learned from.
- I thought Mercenaries 2: World in Flames was a better Sandbox than Grand Theft Auto 4.
- I didn't think what happened to Samus' characterization in Other M was that bad. Then again, my point of comparison was what happened to Aya Brea, so cut me some slack.
- I thought Grand Theft Auto 5's cast was entirely unlikable and that GTA Online was one of the worst botches I had ever played. When you've made a game that requires more grinding than your average MMORPG to get anything done in, yet all of it can go away in a matter of seconds because some player was being a shitfucker, then it's time to put the keyboard down, back away from the screen, and punch yourself in the groin repeatedly whilst you ponder where you may have gone wrong.
- I will maintain until the day I die that Earth Defense Force: 2025 is one of the most hilariously fun experiences on the 360.

-Most videogames worth playing were made after 1997.
-Mass Effect 1 was the best one in the series
-Civilisation V is my favourite Civ game (unless we're counting Alpha Centauri)
-God of War was never cool, nor was it a good game. The same goes for its clones.
-Dark Souls 2 does most things as well as the first game, and is overall more mechanically fun to actually play.
-Bioshock Infinite really isn't very good. The ending isn't as bad as people say, but the rest of it doesn't really hold up either
-There is clearly a lot of talent bottled up in the AAA side of the industry, but it is increasingly incapable of turning out games that are actually good.

Kinda inclined to agree with the first one. Although I may be biased in that regard as I started gaming during 1997. I did enjoy stuff from earlier on like Super Metroid, Chrono Trigger, and Super Mario 64 though.

As for God of War. I liked it back when it first came out. But that was back when I never played very many M rated games, so it seemed amazing to me at the time. Now that I'm kind of desensitized by violence and sex and all that, I just see it as an okay game.

I also agree with Infinite. I liked it initially, but looking at it from a different angle, it has a lot of problems and has squandered potential.

This is all my opinion of course.
