Postmodernism. The movement responsible for shitty low-effort "art" which is responsible for the declining public interest in the arts.
Postmodernism actively tries to vandalise or destroy previous, superior art movements because it tries to apply an oppression narrative to everything and Stalinistically behaves like all art must be political, and even then the politics must agree with "progressive" narratives that consist solely of the condescending promotion of any group that was oppressed at any time, or simply believe they were. Postmodernist "art" is the hideous, completely abstract shit that frauds tell you you just "don't understand". No. If art needs to be explained to have an effect on anybody, it's shit art.
Postmodernist deconstructionism is responsible for the insane decadence of SJW culture, because it pervaded American academe and turned professors into careerist "experts" in "Studies" fields, whose only curriculum is based on their own writings. These writings use "lived experiences" as hard evidence, and are totally ignorant of history and of cultures outside the West.
They condemn Freud as a misogynist without even reading him, and then try to construct a gender theory without him. Anybody who understands Freud would know that this is like writing a novel about Christianity and refusing to read the Bible first because someone told you it will hurt your feelings. From this, we get the now-pandemic culture of "this is true because I feel it". Postmodernism in practice does not even have an interior logic in its gender theories; it argues that "gender identity" is formed from social pressures that have nothing to do with biology, and then is espoused by trannies who personally experience the effect of sex hormones on the brain. In other words, "gender is a construct that has nothing to do with hormones which I medically require to conform to the opposite gender which doesn't exist".
Postmodernism is obsessed with words; it constantly invents new words and phrases which allow conceptions of new forms of oppression. "Internalised misogyny," "metaphysical rape," "heteronormative" and many others are the excretions of this movement, and words like these are used to buffalo impressionable young people into thinking this movement is serious business and very clever. The narrative of oppression seals the deal, since coddled and sheltered juveniles are desperate for some kind of war to fight in; identity is conflict. This, in the atheistic West, fills the void of religion, hence the orthodoxic and sanctimonious behaviour so common with SJWs and their ilk, and the hysteria when Satan-Trump got elected.
But there's no Heaven or Hell in this religion; only Here and Now. We have to constantly censor, apologise and edit every facet of culture to amend and prevent hurt feelings; all actions, even those at the level of global politic, must further the greater good of making dour feminists and twitter-addicted troon losers feel good about themselves, at any expense to art, history or culture.
I hope all other world cultures, who covet or resent the West, don't take advantage of this benevolent narcissism that only flourishes in Westerners. So far so good, right!?
Postmodernism wrought all this and is still causing damage as we speak. It personally pisses me off.
