Trickie dijo:Also, I just kind of realized we're kind of glossing over a lot, aren't we... Oh well. I mean, it's not like Kel (or Rosey's relationship with her) is super important to the story.
I know I should probably finish this issue before commenting on it, but two panels in and I love it already.
EDIT: Just finished reading it, and oh boy...I sense a lot of drama coming up in the next issue. Maybe even the next few issues...I really hope this isn't the reason Rosechu is gonna leave Kel, it's just going to break my heart even more! ROSECHU, YOU'VE GOT IT ALL WRONG, KEL LOVES YOU!
Rosechu with personality? Say it isn't so!
I love this.![]()
I was curious how you were going to handle this. Much gender confusion ensues!
Also I don't think Rosechu has heranymore, after all, we know that Robbie, Cerah and Christine are coming, therefore Sonichu (and Magichan) had to have a place to stick it, unless Rosechu somehow talked a Ditto into posing as her during sexytimes.
See, if Chris IS aware of the comic, this is the part where he goes

"ROSECHU WAS A GIRL RAICHU! GET IT THROUGH YOUR DAMN FUCKING SKULL AND CALL HER BY HER REAL GENDER, YOU DAMN MOCKING BASTARD! UUURRRRRAAAAAAAARRRGH!!"
"You mean *I* wasn't really important," angry glare.
Yeah. That says it all right there really.
"Go Rosechu! Go out and zap Kel to th..." wait...
Well, crap, I'm out of ideas.
I feel a little bad for Kel, because in my mind a ten-year-old trying to sex (by which I mean determine the sex of) her best friend would probably be weirder than just making assumptions. Also, I always named my Pokemon the wrong gender because I could never keep the gender symbols straight (heh).
Pichu doesn't have any gender differences, so it would make sense if newbie Kel sexed her Pichu and then just kind of... didn't notice when her newly-evolved Pikachu had a notch in its tail...
I also found this from the post with the very first actual page of the comic

For a brief, wonderful moment, I was seeing a gif of Chris chimping out in a booster seat yelling at the top of his voice about girl Raichus. Thank you so much for that. xD
"'Wasn't really important'? You mean I wasn't really important?"
SILENCE, YOU FOOL! If she realizes this, the comic will end and we're all doomed DOOMED, I SAY!You shouldn't be wasting your talent on this...
*her pikachu didn't have a notch in its tail. I'm managing to get gender confused and I'm a serious pokémon fan wow good job alti
Anything for you, gal-pal.![]()

I didn't ask for these feels, Trickie
This and the GaMERCat are my favorite webcomics right now!
When people say Chris is completely useless, my retort is always that he has inspired genuine creativity in a number of people. Without the ridiculous psychodrama that is Sonichu we couldn't have such wonderful reinterpretations like Rosechu's Story. Because of overzealous copyright laws courtesy of Disney we can't do this kind of psychologically complex reinterpretations of things that an audience will be familiar with within our own culture because it's owned piecemeal by various media conglomerates. Without people like Chris, creating things that are literally so insane that they create a community around them, we couldn't have something like Rosechu's Story. And that's not the world I want to live in.
Anyway, this is easily the best Sonichu fancomic ever. You shouldn't be wasting your talent on this but I am indescribably grateful that you are.
SILENCE, YOU FOOL! If she realizes this, the comic will end and we're all doomed DOOMED, I SAY!
So Trickie! Trickie!
Does this mean Chris is aware of Rosechu's Story?
Does he like it?
I've always thought he would like it a lot, esp. if he ignores or doesn't 'get' the intro at the very beginning, or reads some of the very last page that you showed.
Move this to the Rosechu's Story thread if you'd like
The way the law works is unfortunate, but there's not a whole lot we can do about it, can we...?
Yeah but Disney is the one literally writing our copyright laws. Every time Mickey is about to lapse into public domain they get the lifetime of a copyright pushed back another few decades. It's disgusting. At a certain point something is just part of our culture and no one owns it, especially after the creator is long dead.
I'm honestly not a huge fan of jealously guarded copyrights, but I understand why they do it, even to people who could make something wonderful out of it. If they just left someone like Chris or the people who were making that Chrono Trigger remake alone, it would appear in court that they're not interested in protecting their copyrights and therefore it's okay for everyone else to use their stuff. The way the law works is unfortunate, but there's not a whole lot we can do about it, can we...?
Today's page is totally on time today! Yay
...Uh oh. I have a bad feeling about this...
No, Chris doesn't know about Rosechu's Story, at least not as far as I'm aware. If he did know about it, it might explain why he was so short and curt with me, but I suspect that's just because of his paranoia or autism or something. When I told him what I wanted for my commission, I referred to an event that he himself wrote about in Rosechu's Cwckipedia article, so I didn't flat out tell him it was a scene from my fan comic. The only things I added to the scene were Kel and Rosey hugging and Rosey's pokeball lying on the ground. In any case, my comic wasn't mentioned in our interactions by either of us, so I think it's pretty safe to say that he's blissfully unaware.
Which is fine, really. I mean, sure, it'd be funny if he found out about it, but I'm not so keen on it that I'm going to go advertising it to him directly. The joy I get from making Rosechu's Story comes from you guys, not from daydreaming about how much Chris is going to chimp out when he sees how I portray his beloved characters.
It's... hypnotic. I can't stop watching.
omg

Don't make me go and check on my Pokeymanz, I don't think I'd be able to deal.
Really though I like that as mature as Kel should be (long-time Pokemon trainer renting out a cabin and adventuring on her own, etc.) she still makes some pretty rudimentary mistakes and even can come across as insensitive to her Pokemon. And then it helps that you set Rosechu up as feeling helpless and stressed out that Kel will put her in the PC if things stay as they are; it justifies the meltdown that I think is coming.
This topic reminds me of comic books such Supreme or Superion that sport protagonists that are clearly influenced by Superman and\or Captain Marvel, but serve as means for their respective writers to tell stories they couldn't get away with using the original characters. Sure, Supreme started out as one of Rob Liefeld's horrible abominations, but as soon as Alan Moore had taken over it became one of the greatest meta comics of all time.
While I know that having a Mickey Mouse homage character do incredible things isn't the same as the Big Mouse himself getting a big makeover, but I wonder how far one could go using this strategy.
Wasn't expecting that. Forgot about this comic for the last couple of weeks with work, glad to see I came back to some neat updates, and a plot that couldn't thicken further if you added cornstarch.
Actually, as it turns out, Chris DOES know about your comic now! Look, I even got his initial reaction to the latest page!

(Much thanks to Ze Red Medic for making this for me.)
I may not be able to do fanart for you, Trickie, but I can at least give you the experience of Chris reading your comic.![]()
