Culture Author of "My Immortal" Possibly Found

There have been rumors throughout the years — like the recent one that the author might be Handbook for Mortalswriter Lani Sarem.
Then, on Aug. 2, a statement was published to a FictionPress account that claimed to belong to the author of "My Immortal."
Then, on Aug. 27, another update was published — this one stating plainly and simply, "No, I am not Lani Sarem."

The internet sleuths went to business. Tumblr user pipistrella theorized that the author in question was YA novelist Rose Christo, who has a memoir — Under the Same Stars — in the works with Macmillan's St. Martin's Press.
Pipistrella pointed to a screenshot that seemed to show Christo logged into the FictionPress account that published the statements.
Christo responded to the rumors via her Tumblr, claiming that "Macmillan Publishers hired a lawyer to vet [her] over the course of three days," and that she provided proof as to her connection to "My Immortal" as well as other events included in the upcoming memoir.

Basically, it's the Legend of Zelda version of My Immortal. It's mostly famous for its ridiculous sex scenes and that the author was completely insane.

I'd have to go digging if I'm to find more than her old DA. She had a period of "DELETE EVERYTHING" and threatened to sue someone before.

It's a stupidly long fic from the early internet days that's commonly compared to My Immortal. It never caught the same fame because well...length.

I like Full-Life Consequences more because you're reading it and you just know this is some dude trying his hardest to write a cool story, and that gets communicated to you but not in the way he probably intended. My Immortal's always rang as one of those examples of Poe's Law, where no one has ever been sure whether or not it was a serious attempt at fanfiction or something someone did as a parody.

I have this sick feeling in my stomach that millennial spergs will attempt to recreate the angst of the early 2000s. I know I'm not alone in this one.

I know of it only because a passed former friend used to adore it when we were younger. It reeks of the "rawr" language and has that emo/scene vibe. You don't know if it's legit by an emo or mocking one. You don't want to read, but you do. It's that bad.

Please put it back in the grave before they make it into another fandom, for christs sake.
