Cortana dying is a pretty neat ending. Everything past 4 is 100% non-canon tho, bringing her back in the next game was such a limpdick decision, a real writing team would stick with this decision to make her loss mean something.

Yeah, the forerunners stick out like a sore thumb but at least fighting robot enemies is a fresh experience. Honestly, if you could rewrite the base story and keep Cortana dying(and actually staying dead at the end) it could be a decent entry. Gameplay would need some work, I remember it being a mess but there were foundations for something decent, once again I appreciate the variety in weapons and wish we had them in earlier games.

Iho I find this scene and similar scenes in scifi super dumb. What do you mean your engine computer on your mass produced space war ship has all of human history on it? That makes no sense. This is a war ship, used to fight for humanities survival, and you are wasting disk space for wikipedia.

Not really. It happened in the books first with the Forerunner Trilogy.
It makes sense when you realize that by this point in the Human Covenant War, more than half of humanity's population had been wiped out. They started the war with about 40 billion people, and by the time Halo had been found, about 23 billion had been killed. Having every ship in the fleet outfitted with human history in its computers makes sense when you realize that the war was getting to the point where Ships were probably going to have to be ordered to just try and run and reconolonize some other part of the galaxy that the Covenant hadn't found, using the crew that they had on hand. The ship probably also had a catalogue of every technology humanity had made on it for that very purpose as well. US Naval Vessels STILL have libraries, both physical and digital, on them. So it isn't that much of a stretch that they compiled everything and put it in the ship's library both for posterity and personnel use.
And they still kept doing it in 4, so that doesn't really change my stance of "Fuck 4"
Hey, the crew are only human. They need something to read during downtime, why not history. Also, I would think storage had advanced enough that a compilation of mankinds history would be the equivalent of a megabyte or 2 in a terabyte hard drive, as a comparison.

Unironically in a sci-fi setting with FTL travel and no FTL comms, ships would probably carry timestamped copies of a local internet, catching up anywhere they visit that has an older copy, and updating from anywhere that's got newer data. The UNSC had only JUST started to figure out very low quality FTL comms around the end of the war, and we're talking like the data density of a physical letter, not high speed internet. Considering how little civilian travel there would have been by that point, it wouldn't surprise me if military ships were taking double duty on moving data during the war.
