I debated getting it for the eldar model but these two dont do a lot for me oddly enough.
I also considered it for their shows but the new academy or paint guides wouldnt do anything for me.
The price for a year is about what it costs to buy the model so it shows people care more about the model than the rest.

Confirmed the price for the Eldar model is exactly the subscription price so ive got a few weeks to decide if its worth i guess.
Also went to a swap meet and bought a few codexes since i want to try and build up a collection for art and whatnot. The 10th edition sister codex had an unusued code so $60 saving right there which made me laugh.
I know it'd probably be stupid but I wonder if they could have just changed the "mini of the year" to something a bit more substantial, maybe sub for a year and you get a codex of your choice or whatever, they obviously wouldn't do that but I feel like two minis, one for a game no one cares about, isn't going to be inticing for anyone other than fomo whales.
If they wanted to sell Warhammer+ subscriptions it should include access to all of the game's codices in the app. You lose access if you unsub which gives people a reason to stay locked in, and it gives people an option not to need the useless books. At $60/yr that's the cost of a codex until they decide to double the price because of "inflation".
For the current price a subscription is already a really hard sell. I don't know what knuckle dragger at GW thinks that increasing the price by a few extra months is going to help. If you can't make profit off what you're currently offering at the current price, while also struggling to provide enough value for customers to subscribe what does that tell you? The kind of person who would buy into an annual subscription is not the kind of person who still watches lore videos, or painting tutorials. A $5 discount on one of their candles or a t-shirt doesn't make up for the $75 it cost to get the discount. All that leaves them with are their animations and White Dwarf archive. The animations are fine but not ground breaking. Astartes 2 will likely have a collective run time of about 12 minutes just like the first one and will probably find its way to youtube one way or another. At best you'll get someone to subscribe for one month to watch it and cancel immediately.

It's because they're cutting the cost of the shitty codexes this year. Instead of being a useless hard cover book for $60 that people use the code and then immediately throw into the closet or trash, they're "only" going to be $40 in soft cover(there was a bunch of whining about them being soft cover, but anyone who is no longer a child and still insists on using the physical books(which end up immediately obsolete) doesn't want to carry around a backpack full of books like a student. So of course someone at GW wants to make up for the revenue elsewhere so they bumped up the price of WH+.
And yeah subbing to WH+ for the animations you can get anywhere else(the better ones anyway) or WD(which has a bunch of stuff cut out of them, and is still behind a couple years because they still consider a fucking print magazine a revenue source in 2026 even after firing a bunch of the staff for it). It really is insane what this company does sometimes.

Otherwise they ought to cheap out as much as possible. Don't print in color, strip out everything except the rules, no pictures just plain text, and cut the price in half.
I think GW knows the best solution is to separate the lore books from the rule books. Codices should not contain any rules it should just contain lore, and some hobby tips. Give new collectors some tips for creating successor chapters, new paint schemes, or how to expand your army after a combat patrol. They can still sell their stupid books but it might have some value for a change.

It'll give you app access and if you insist on paper print outs you can print it yourself and the rules will actually be up to date. You're forgetting the time GW did digital releases for codexes, and then panicked dropping it for rules because the files themselves rather than just PDF rips were publicly available.
Anyway, you mention every other company being capable of profiting from free rules. Well yes, duh. But you're also forgetting those companies are basically competing with GW. Not the other way around.
Funny with all their missteps following Mk3, Privateer Press handled free rules better with Warmahordes. Their app has the core rules and unit stats, while the books added fluff and painting guides.

The core rules were free in the app, but you still had to pay per faction for the data sheets in the app(it was something like $10/faction $90 for everything including anything they added going forward during mk3).

You'd have to be willing to pay people to pick parts(manual labor of having people dig through shelves for this and send stuff picked off off to be shipped), and store and organize individual parts(this is when they ended it), or be paying employees to be clipping bits off of more complex sprues as time went on(seriously, paying people for this would be fucking retarded not to mention ending up with a bunch of partially clipped sprues). It pretty much ended when they had an east coast US shelving accident where part of the shelving in the warehouse collapsed in either '98 or '99 I think it was(think one row of shelving tipping knocking over the next, and the next and so on), and swept it into bins selling it by the pound as "mostly 40k" or "mostly fantasy" because paying someone to re-sort all of that was just a waste of time).

Problem is with the move from metal to plastic, it needs a whole very expensive sprue. So they would need to design sprues specifically for kitbashing.
BUT THEY ALREADY DO THIS. *Insert your marine chapter here* upgrade sprues exist with pauldrons, arms, heads and weapons that are themed after that chapter. Not to mention the skulls box (which im tempted to get for basing).
There is nothing stopping GW from selling kitbashing sprues except themself.
Pretty sure you've always been able to buy the extra sponson sprue. I vaguely recall having to order one to my local GW back in the day, when I decided to challenge myself to build and magnetize one chassis as every possible variant.

Literally every movie piracy site has all of the warhammer + animations lmfao, hell, you can still find them all on youtube if you know where to look. Hell, you can even look up white dwarf issue XYZ pdf free and find pretty much all of them on the first google search result page, same goes for every single codex.
