I've heard its similar to the genocide route and Noelle actually has a character within it so it's probably worth it just for that. I've also heard that it requires some meta game knowledge and possibly the wiki to understand what your doing and how to start it. Then again, I thought that about the secret bosses and most of those secret areas can be found easily without guides. Like I said, at this point I'd rather wait for Chapter 7 to come out if he's not even going to bother with chapter 6 having a secondary route.
theres probably a good reason why chapter 6 is skipped but we wont know why until it (or possibly 7) releases. the weird route is essentially a sequence break and i guess the events of ch5 weird route lead to an outcome that wouldnt normally happen until ch7. or maybe the timespan of events in ch6 will be significant. who knows, hard to say
understandable if you want to wait to get the full experience in one go but if you were to play weird route now i dont think you would regret it, im pretty fucking hyped for 6 and 7 now having played both routes

It’s kinda like the genocide route, but more psychological and less “kill everything in sight”. In fact, you can still spare like 90% of the enemies. The most concise, least spoilery guide I can give is: >Whenever Noelle isn’t involved, play the game however you want.

I strongly recommend going ahead with it, given you’ve already done the normal route up to this point. Besides, (minor spoilers given what you already know) it’s not that Chapter 6 doesn’t have a weird route, more like the weird route doesn’t have a Chapter 6. And there’s some speculation that “aborting” the route in Chapter 5 doesn’t actually abort it, but instead puts you on a different weird route.
It's a bit surprising how no one in Hometown (that we know of) has guns considering the state Hometown is based on (New Hampshire) is quite lenient with gun laws

Yeah. I've been writing down my thoughts as I've been going through the chapters past 1 on a first playthrough. It would be nice to have somewhere to put them instead of just writing for myself, since there are definitely some opinions that would get my head put on a stick in less desirable places. I won't lie, I'd been avoiding playing DR until now, since I was afraid like with when I played UT I wouldn't have anywhere sane to discuss the game. I'll be selfish and say it would piss me off if lost contact with the only (relatively) normal people to talk with about UT/DR.
A the very leas, this thread seems to be the only place where we can call Kris with any pronouns instead of being forced into 'they/them'. I have a rant incoming, but not now.

you probably have noticed by now the existence of elemental pair mechanic. some valuable items can provide either defense from an element, or be a weapon that does higher damage to an element. there are only two pairs in the game so far, as of 5 chapters out of 7. but did you know that in the code there are 10 FUCKING ELEMENTAL PAIRS AND 8 OF THEM ARE COMPLETELY UNUSED? 10. FUCKING. ELEMENTAL. PAIRS. Not even QUARTER of them is uncovered as of chapter 5... this mechanic was basically forgotten entirely in chapter 5 except for the pink haha funny cat boss, you don't even get any elemental defense armor or weapon in the dark world.
chapter 5 is fucking useless. you don't even get new proper equipment, just some bs netskiehat with high defense and that's all. if this trend continues deltarune is doomed.
They are not even implemented 'properly'. Some attacks check if an element-resisting item is equipped instead of letting th elemental system already in the game do the work.
UTYellow was an excellent fangame, with some flaws such as excessively long dialogue, a typical noob mistake (funny how that worked with Chapter 5). I haven't finished it yet, but Clover is clearly a boy despite the use of they/them/xir for him (plus I believe he's referred as "king" at some point, aka a male title), the game has multiple endings including a non-canon one where he rescues his souls, and a canon one where his soul join the others.
IIRC he also meets Integrity here, or at least his killer, but I'm not sure of the details.
The point is that there was some drama with that game's music and Toby's lack of an answer, but I don't recall what exactly happened here. Seeing how spiteful and envious leftards can be, I'm convinced they co-opted Yellow by making him a literal retard. Or at least a blatant OC freak that makes ElNino+Elnina look normal (and these two were already overdesigned compared to the regular NPCs!).
In the Genocide Route, Flowey explicitly says 'Your exit, my king.' in the abandoned factory. He never meets the Integral Human, bu the one who 'neutralised' the Human, in that same route.
I just don't get why people latch onto Kris being non-binary as this 100% confirmed aspect of the character that must be "corrected" at all times as though Kris were a real person, when as far as we know Humans in the Foxiverse may not even have genders or are all called "they" because Monsters legit can't tell the sexes apart. Kris being referred to as "they" 527 times on the wiki doesn't actually confirm or deny anything because EVERY human is referred to that way.
Because people only see what they want to see, and anything that disagrees with their view must be incorrect. "The author's intent" only matters when intent lines up with their personal view, otherwise it is disregarded and substituted with headcanon. There is no explanation other than "I know better than you," because we are talking about people who interact with the things they enjoy on a superficial level. Really, Kris's gender doesn't mean anything. Knowing whether he's a male or female or NB, changes nothing about him as a character. It is irrelevant. The only plot relevance it would have is in the case that Kris is the Girl, as unlikely as that is. There have been plenty of characters in movies and games that conceales their gender to avoid something bad from happening to them, but those are never cases of legitimately hating what you are, they are stories of hating the societal stigmas that made you pretend to be something you aren't, and I can't see that applying to Kris when he already can't do anything about the fact that he's a human. It's such a stupid topic, I can not believe so many people get so hung up on it that they have to call out anybody that uses the "wrong" pronouns.

He doesn't even really do that though. That scene is a bit unusual for drawing attention to Seth's ambiguous gender, but it doesn't have have Seth establishing she identifies as they/them or non-binary, just that she's "hiding" her gender, which other characters take as her not actually knowing.
That's sort of the thing with Toby's writing that's probably what causes these dumb conversations. He puts things in the game that look like obvious gender fuckery, but he goes out of his to draw no attention to it either in-story or in real life, unlike other writers who would put those sorts of themes in a game. It's all treated as very banal and remarkable. Like there's plenty of character called "they", but why is never explained, nor just generally given any attention. Seth is the closest, and it's treated as a joke where it's ambiguous. There's lesbian stuff like Alphys/Undyne and Noelle/Susie, but the fact it's two girls is never pointed out as in any way unusual or noteworthy. Closest I can think of is Rudy half-jokingly pointing out if they won King and Queen they're really be two Queens. Those two knights appear to be gay, but even with that I don't think there was anything explicit until some incidental dialogue in Chapter 4 from one that feels like it may have been written by someone else, since up to that point the whole thing was kind of joke where it's presented it an ambiguous way like they're close "bros" that look gay. There's stuff you can read into as a tranny metaphor like Mettaton and Pink, but it's never explicitly presented that way nor would it be a 1-to-1 allegory.
Toby is pretty much unironically living up to the old "I don't see race" political stance but for LGBT shit, and people don't know how to handle that because that's not how the culture war is supposed to work anymore.
I try to avoid commenting on the Kris pronoun topic because I think arguing on the internet about the pronouns of a character from a video game is gay beyond words. But since it keeps coming up...
Frisk was designed expressly to have an ambiguous gender. It was done well because you can look at them and see them being a boy or a girl. Kris was made with the same design ethos, except his design was aped from Varik from Brandish 3 (Toby said this) who is expressly male, and extremely masculine. Not to mention Kris's behavior is boyish throughout the entire game.
The 10,000 pronoun citations on the wiki (or whatever number we're at now) are 10,000 instances of Kris having an ambiguous gender. In tranny theory, you refer to someone as they/them when you don't want to assume their gender, which is what every character is doing in these 10,000 citations. There are 0, ZERO instances in the game or of Toby Fox referring to or implying that Kris is non-binary. We get confirmation that unimportant side-villains like Seth are, though, which proves my point even further. If Toby wanted Kris to be non-binary it would actually be stated that he is "neither a boy or a girl" in game. It would be so easy to confirm it in some random hidden throwaway dialogue and yet it never happens.
Toby Fox is a massive faggot. I don't know who needs to hear this or why it was a talking point but yeah.

I would trust that Kris' unrequited love will be used as a meaningful plot point if this weren't the same chapter where they introduced George Bloyd, they announced their intent to troon out Ralsei, they retconned Susie to say she was always interested in Noelle, they took an intriguing character and turned him into a punching bag for people who hate their dad, they made the final shadow crystal boss an autogynephilic tranny, and they had to patch in extra "lore" at the last minute because they did not meaningfully advance the story at all in the 6 hour runtime.
