I don't think people remember how wealthy The Passion made Mel Gibson. He self-financed the whole thing for less than $30 million and it made over half a billion. He took home over half of that.
Also he's too busy with The Passion sequel to fuck around with Nolan's sloppy seconds.
I saw a clip of him replying to being asked about being cancelled by Hollywood by saying "They didn't cancel me, I cancelled them. They still call me and I just hang up."
I’d say anyone watching anything of theirs other than BOTW these days is doing it wrong.
YouTube counts someone watching 1 minute as a view. All of these view counts on social media are inflated. Same with the big streaming services. Netflix doesn't even report their views anymore or what their metrics are. So if someone watches three minutes of a ten episode show, turns it off to never watch again, that magically counts as someone "watching the show".
It’s pretty stupid but I don’t know how else to gauge it. What constitutes one “watch” of something? 1 minute is too low. But I also don’t know what percentage is best. I’ve seen 3 minutes of a long video and said “yeah I get the gist/I don’t like this” and turned it off. The advanced metrics break down where the viewer stopped watching which is especially helpful for the creators
They are one of the channels that barely grow but the people who are subbed watch them a lot.
