Undertale / Deltarune / Toby Fox Discussion

It occurred to me recently... you know what's a missed opportunity?
Before you enter a Dark World in any chapter past the first one, you enter a location that you were able to enter before, and also inspect the objects within. Wouldn't it be cool if you could interact with an object, and after you enter the Dark World where it's located, the Darkner it's based on actually remembers what you did to it?
Imagine:
-at the end of Chapter 2, you get to select what TV program you get to watch with Susie. Depending on your choice, Tenna in the next chapter actually takes note of that and says something like "Wow, you really like those westerns, huh? I've prepared a cowboy shooting game just for you!"
-enter the library's computer room in Ch1 and browse the internet, maybe play a Flash game or something. Then in Ch2, the Queen prepares an activity directly related to what you did?
-steal a wafer in Ch4's intro, and when you enter the Sanctuaries, the wafer Darkners get mad at you for it.
-at any point before Ch5, you get to tap on the glass of the Seven Flowers, maybe even take it off and poke them, Then when you meet them in the Dark World, they bring it up and treat you either with hostility or affection.

The game already has a ton of little dialogue changes depending on your actions, so why not have that as well? Interactivity mixed with setup and payoff.

New patch dropped:
GAMEPLAY ADDITIONS
・A Golden Tenna Statue will now appear in Castle Town in Chapter 5 if you got it from the Ball Machine in Chapter 3.
・The ability to permanently re-enable Voice Clips has been shoddily added if you lose to the Chapter Boss and have them disabled.

GAMEPLAY ISSUES
・In Chapter 4, defeating a Titan Spawn with violence no longer erroneously counts as "Lost". We also fixed an issue in Chapter 5 where Jackenstein would not appear in your town because of this.
・Susie now has additional magic points in Chapter 5 if you defeated the Shadow Crystal boss of Chapter 4.
・Fixed some issues where the number on the TP display was occasionally inaccurate.
・You can no longer incorrectly leave a certain scene by frame-perfectly opening the menu in the Light World.
・Fixed an issue where on gamepads, ZL / L2 would count only as a single frame press of confirm in Chapter 5 only.
・Fixed an issue involving bugged blank item slots which had been carried over from Chapter 4 save files before it was fixed in that chapter.
・Fixed an issue where you can clip through the floor after fighting three scarecrows by immediately opening the ACT menu, and other bugs involving the ACT menu.
・You can no longer crash the game by hitting an enemy and a Mysterious Statue at the same time. (Unless you can)
・You can no longer walk around during combat by interacting with Final Starwalker on the same frame you engage a battle. (And other similar issues)
・Fixed various scenarios where you can move around with the menu open.
・Fixed certain bullet patterns not giving TP when grazed.
・Kris will no longer stay sideways if you enter into the final cutscene of Chapter 5 sideways.
・Fixed MANY other minor issues, visual or otherwise.
Looks like they finally fixed the issue with Jackenstein dying if you've slain the titan spawns in Chapter 4.

I fucking knew it. Susie's heal was dogshit in chapter 5 even though she was supposed to have a higher magic stat after beating Gerson

NEXT TIME
In the next patch, we will add an option to nerf the bombs of the Shadow Crystal boss after losing to them once. Additionally, we plan to fix a small number of bugs in previous chapters which had gone unaddressed up until this point.

There is no plan for another extensive Chapter 5 patch after the next one.
Instead, we will resume fully concentrating our development resources on Chapter 6 and 7.
Last chance to beat Mad TroonTroon before the nerf.

Am I the only who didn’t have any problem with the bomb attack? The 3D perspective attack is the one that screwed with me the most, and it took me a few tries before I realized why I was taking damage every two seconds.

why nerf it? not to pretend it was trivial or anything but it was definitely the easiest of the shadow crystal bosses. if anything they should shorten the dialogue after a death because it's cringe and the most annoying thing about the fight.
dunno what they mean by bomb attack, the bomberman grid attack is easy, but the 3 lane attack where you have shit coming at you from both sides while he also throws bombs directly at you, now thats some fucking bullshit.

Have you ever played tempest?
Yes, that’s a game that does a good job of showing a 3D perspective. Unlike the Mad Mew Mew fight, where everything looks flat, you have no time to process that it’s suddenly supposed to be 3D, the TP grazing feels different, and you constantly lag behind the ring that’s supposed to represent your 3D depth.

To everyone who had trouble with the bomb attack, I ask: Have you ever played Bomberman?

I have. The DSi Ware game on 3DS, but I have. Doesn't mean I'm good at Bomberman. Though I'm more confused by how the Bomberman attack actually has a danger zone to make dodging easier later in the fight, but not earlier.
