Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

Came across this absolutely cursed creation.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=nC88PI2EFygEntirely generated with Seedance 2.0. This channel is filled with old AI cartoon brainrot content like this.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=_p9X50ek25Uhttps://youtube.com/watch?v=KyDW314WBv8https://youtube.com/watch?v=LZ1e7eoOoU0See when I say "AI could bring an animation renaissance" this is what I'm talking about. Now anyone can revitalize quality old 2D Disney animation at their fingertips and direct it however which way they wish. Yes there's still some oddities and general AI artifacts you'd come to expect by now, but compared to how it was a few years ago, it just goes to show AI could care less about what artists feel. Progress is inevitable, and they'll all end up like John Henry while the train keeps on chugging along to greater endeavors.
I've seen these.

i dont want to watch the ai generated cartoon slop. i need human suffering involved in my cartoon production. if i cant watch something where the animators are having mental breakdowns having to draw fart clouds every 3 seconds or whatever the fuck, whats the point?

The guy who made these videos actually knows how to model and animate in 3D. This is from his TikTok account.

And they say anyone who uses AI is a creativeless bigot chudcel, it goes to show as long as you have a creative vision and know how to direct, you can make something of value without taking out a loan just to pay 3rd worlders to make your primo anime brainrot series.

ngl I sorta wish I was into this shit so I could get uppity about it
I get where they're coming from but I'm not invested enough into the backstory to really bellyfeel, but the idea of "we made cartoon of aislop to argue that aislop must be free" really pushes my lolbertardian buttons in the best way
especially after seeing, maybe the Tung Tung stick guy, I dunno who, but one of them was at Five Below or Marshalls or one of those "so you're really that poor" stores

Let me explain this: Noxaasht, the creator of Tung Tung Tung Sahur, managed to copyright his characters with the help of a French company called Mementum Lab, which led to their removal from many Brainrot games.

Basically, you have to pay royalties to these people if you want to use specific Italian Brainrot characters in a commercial product, which is questionable, since these characters were made with AI, and therefore are public domain by default. According to Mementum Lab, if something created with AI involves sufficient human intervention, it can be subject to copyright. Eventually, they succeeded in getting Ofuscabreno and Alexey Pigeon, the creators of Brr Brr Patapim and Chimpanzini Bananini respectively, to join them. Both are very important Brainrot creators, especially the latter, who created more than twenty important and iconic Brainrot characters.

SpyderSammy, the creator of the Roblox game "Steal A Brainrot," is suing Mementum Lab over this issue, as these characters, having been created with AI, are in public domain by default. Honestly, all of this feels so surreal. They could be making history with this case.

Pixar Bears Brunt of Disney Studio Layoffs as Company Axes Several Hundred Staffers

Pixar Animation Studios, despite riding high on the success of summer blockbuster “Toy Story 5,” was hit particularly hard in a wave of companywide layoffs Tuesday at Disney.

A Disney spokesperson confirmed that the media conglomerate is cutting several hundred jobs across certain corporate functions. Those include job cuts at ESPN, many related to the integration of NFL Network; Disney Entertainment Television; and Disney’s studios. The majority of the layoffs on the studios side are within Pixar and majority of cuts in the TV group are at National Geographic.

The Disney employees who are losing their jobs were informed Tuesday morning.

Disney in April cut about 1,000 employees in marketing functions across Disney’s studios, TV networks, ESPN, product and technology, and corporate groups. At the time, newly appointed Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro said in a memo to employees, “Over the past several months, we have looked at ways in which we can streamline our operations in various parts of the company to ensure we deliver the world-class creativity and innovation our fans value and expect from Disney. Given the fast-moving pace of our industries, this requires us to constantly assess how to foster a more agile and technologically-enabled workforce to meet tomorrow’s needs.”

The job cuts at Pixar are concentrated in production and operations. A source familiar with the layoffs said the changes reflect Pixar’s evolving needs related to production volume and the projects that are in process at the studio. More broadly, Walt Disney Studios has evolved its production strategy over the past three years to reduce overall volume and prioritize quality — with a focus on theatrical releases that feed into the company’s broader entertainment ecosystem (including streaming), with less produced directly for streaming.

Pixar has released two movies in 2026: this spring’s original adventure “Hoppers,” which had a strong opening but failed to match the box-office heights of prior Pixar greats; and this summer’s “Toy Story 5,” which is imminently crossing the billion-dollar mark and will end up as the highest-grossing of the franchise.

Though Pixar’s sequels, including 2024’s “Inside Out 2,” have electrified the box office, the animation studio has struggled since the pandemic to launch new properties. During COVID, several movies including “Soul,” “Luca” and “Turning Red” were sent directly to Disney+ and executives felt that inadvertently trained audiences to watch Pixar’s films at home.

Interesting how despite turning a profit they still announced layoffs. Just like the last time they had a profitable movie. Hm. Too bad.

its like layoffs can happen even if something is profitable because of broader corporate effects we as people not working in the industry will never know about by being hidden under several coats of non disclosure agreements

Or because they just simply bring on more people to help somewhat mitigate crunch and/or the related overtime hours and then lay them off when they're no longer needed. Sort of like how retail stores hire on temps just for the holiday season.
