It definitely had an interesting story concept. The biggest problem was they were too slow with it. They either put it out too early and half baked and should have waited longer or done something differently. It felt like Hello Neighbor in "oh this could be interesting." but never finished in a reasonable time.
It was kind of a big turnoff for early accesss.
A lot of people are turned off by the gameplay. I actually really enjoyed it but I could definitely see how someone would find it tedious or half-baked. I think a lot of people also thought the survival rougelite gameplay didn't mesh well with the type of story and setting they made. Again, it's something I genuinely enjoyed, warts and all, but I could understand why someone wouldn't.

The story is absolute peak. The themes of grief, guilt, denial, repression and dozens of other heavy topics, are all woven together brilliantly and make for a story that's both sad and cathartic. The setting and aesthetics are really pleasant and fun. I'm not sure there was really a reason the story needed all the trippy 60s stuff except for style, but it hooks me in perfectly.

But my absolute favorite thing about the story is how the dystopian government initially seems like an uber-compentent and powerful cabal but you slowly realize it's just a giant shitshow where no one is actually in charge and things are all falling apart around them. Deus Ex does the same thing. Very "Tower of Babel." It's something that rings a lot more true to me when I look at modern "elites" and in may ways is actually much scarier. A competent tyrant can at least keep the trains running on time.

It's a game I absolutely adore but is hard to recommend to other people because I feel like a lot about the game will turn them off. Maybe they'd be more interested if I said it was an "Angloid Suffering Simulator."

I long for a day when DRPG (Wizardry / Etrian Odyssey) clones are the indie flavor of the week.
A few devs I found during the summer game fest are making those.
KVLTGames On twitter is making a dungeon crawler and they're guys who are pretty chuddy too so no gay shit.

This other dev is a solo so no idea how far they'll go. Last I saw they were doing another project for a gamejam.

ZA/UM, the studio that developed Disco Elysium, laid off 32 employees after their new game, ZERO PARADES, proved to be a commercial failure.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=5oVCXbwNgoUAccording to one commenter in the comments section, a PC recompilation of Asura's Wrath is releasing soon. I hope for a recompilation of The Darkness and Gears of War 3.
Jesus you can hear the fatness from this guys voice.

"I'm using mouse and keyboard BREATHES and i'm perfectly fine and if you see if that my aims really stable i'm actually on a trackball BREATHES cause i'm a filmmaker in real life BREATHES"

Wow, Synduality - some weird anime extraction shooter, I think? - is down to £1.50 from £35. That's one hell of a drop even for this genre.

Playing Dishonored (DE, if it matters) for the first time. The first mission/tutorial is promising enough, simple as it is. I liked the little detail of that one prisoner actually reacting to a dead guard I threw against the cell bars, just because he asked me so politely to kill one.

Also climbing/getting under things works well enough. If the level design is good I might be a blast haver in no time.

First Dishonored was really good, lots of variety on how to do things. You'll be a blast haver for certain.
