Guys I know you might not care about call of duty that much, but black ops 1 and 2 have been re released on PSN for the ps4 and PS5 systems. It's $40 per each game and the season pass costs $30 per game, BUT right now there is a PS plus discount going on with the game.

If you have PlayStation Plus, each game is $20 and the season pass is $10 per game. In total, that's $60 for both games. I think I'm getting the games.

So EverQuest Legends announced their cash shop, and people are freaking out.

EverQuest Legends will use an in-game virtual currency called Iridium (IR):

$4.99 | 500 IR
$9.98 | 1,000 IR
$24.99 | 2,750 IR (+10%)
$49.99 | 5,750 IR (+15%)
$99.99 | 12,000 (+20%)

The following items will be available in the in-game shop (pricing is subject to change):
  • Deity Unlock Token | 500 IR
  • Race Unlock Token | 1000 IR
  • Class Unlock Token | 1500 IR
  • Additional Loadout Slot | 500 IR
  • Alternate Storage Increase | 500 IR (provides additional slots to one type of storage in the increments shown above)
  • Additional Inventory Slot | 500 IR
  • Weight Reduction Bags
    • 12-slot 100% WR Bag | 500 IR
    • 24-slot 80% WR Bag | 750 IR
    • 50-slot 0% WR 100 Weight Bag |1000 IR
  • AA potion | 500 IR (provides double points for the next five AAs and does not expire)
  • Name Change Potion | 1000 IR
  • Token of Reclamation (restore a lost item) | 100 IR
  • Various cosmetic items | Pricing TBD
Items may be added or removed from the in-game shop, and pricing may change.
This is pretty much identical to the cash shop in EQ Live with the exception that you can't buy XP potions, level skips, et cetera. But boy howdy everyone's freaking out because in the closed beta everyone got like 5000 tradeskill bank slots for free and infinite number of Loadouts (which are literally just bookmarks for a specific race/class combo you've selected, you can edit them in town at any time).

Everything in the list is basically a convenience item or of limited use. Like, the bags are nice, but you can get 10 slot 100% wr bags in game by endgame, and you don't really run out of inventory space. The deity/race/class unlocks are meant to be done by maxxing faction with a given race (e.g., once you max your faction with the Euridites, you can switch race to the Euridites) or finishing the endgame questline for a given class -- and since there's no difference between primary and secondary classes, there's no reason to worry about it unless you want to do something really weird like an Ogre Bard/Wizard/Paladin or something without finishing 50 as something else.

5 AAs at double speed is a bit iffy, but you're swimming in AAs by the end of the current level treadmill.

Since it's still published by DayBreakGames, this was kinda expected, but, yeah. I wonder how many people freaking out are THJ server refugees that were just looking for something to be mad about?

The Simpsons: Road Rage walked so that The Simpsons: Hit & Run could run.

TLDW: Radical Entertainment was known to make licensed games based on sports such as MTV Skateboarding. They couldn't compete with EA Sports then, so they needed more licenses to make games off of. They impressed FOX with having a playable demo of The Simpsons being taxi drivers instead of just incorporating Simpsons in kart racing.

They only had 11 months of development on top of learning the sixth generation of consoles. Springfield was originally supposed to be open world. The Xbox and GameCube versions ran fine, the PS2 version had game-breaking issues.

First one, the sudden texture changes from Matt Groening's executive meddling against Road Rage looking like a cartoon tanked the PS2's performance. Secondly, the PS2 couldn't stream Springfield as an open world properly. So, a quick solution was to just split up Springfield into levels.

EA SPORTS™ College Football 27's release has been a shitshow, because EA only revealed at the last second that the single-player campaign (Dynasty mode) would have microtransactions, and the leveling pace is very slow unless you bust out the credit card:

The game is, not surprisingly, getting hammered in reviews:

While road is a fast paced driving game with solid core gameplay.

Hit and Run is just an empty open world, with an awful combat system, interrupted constantly by cutscenes.
It’s rather hard to make a narrative based on being a taxi driver. Hit & Run doesn’t even have a lot of cutscenes. Unless you’re counting the mission briefings.

I yearn for a vehicle-based game in which you start out solo, get promoted a few times, start your own company and slowly pivot into management. Semi-cartoony, semi realistic, doesn't run like shit, on "Simulator" in the name, no AI.

Truck Sim sort of goes into that but other than passive income it just does nothing. You know, it could be like the Vice City taxi property missions. Gang wars n shit.

I haven't bought an NCAA game since this one and still haven't felt the need to buy another one. Why would I want to live in a world where Texas A&M or Texas or Oklahoma are in the SEC? I can simply ignore reality and fire up NCAA '09. I can make a White running back with my name and my high school and mog the black schools we used to lose to in real life, be a five star SEC recruit, and win the Heisman. I don't want realism in my sports games, thanks. I think I'm going to fire up NFL Blitz 2003.

I still have my PS4 boxed up. I was considering opening it up again and buying those ports to have that first time experience again. However, I'd need to buy a PS+ prepaid card, update my console, and hope Sony did not retroactively delete my account from inactivity. Oh, and of course the DLC is on sale too.

What multiplayer games are you guys playing? I'm kind of in the mood for an online game that actually feels like a multiplayer game, you know, fun interactions with other people, I recently re-downloaded League of Legends just to find out nobody even uses the chat anymore, if you type to much you get automatically chat restricted too.

I don't need 60fps or more, I just need stable. But I'm also the guy who still feels kinda uncanny valley at over 720p and hates OLED screens.

In other news, Tombwater has been fun. It's a spooky, cosmic horror, cowboy souls-like with light puzzling and platforming. The spells have been fun and the crafting has very nice and forgiving QOL to try out different kits. I wish the environmental art was a bit more complex, but some of the monster design is pretty neat and it was made mostly by two guys, so it's impressive for that. Good spooky music too! 7ish/10 right now.
Tombwater was really good!

Curious if anyone recommends anything.
Well all the Total War games and DLC are on sale. So you only have to sell one kidney if you like Warhammer Fantasy.
The XCOM reboots, Tempest Rising if you like C&C 3, Northgard, Old World. To be honest most games that are included in this sale are pretty neat.
