I'm wearing the pins and doing the things today but I'm honestly kinda bummed. Despite the all caps posts on here no one in the real world I inhabit seems to give a fuck about this anniversary. People on the left just hate America as a matter of course and people on the right seem to understand at least subconsciously that the country is a skin suit but the best they can do is cope with half hearted performative patriotism because their side is currently in the White House. There is no excitement or enthusiasm, I feel like random 4th parades back in the 90's had more genuine exuberance than what we can muster now for this big birthday. I'm still taking my wife to eat barbecue and watch fireworks but I can't shake this depressed feeling, kind wish I liked drinking still, maybe that would help. Sorry to be a negative Nancy but it's what I'm seeing out here.

I could be misremembering but I'm pretty sure the larper shit with the "this machine kill fascists" is used wrong compared to the og one. I remmeber seeing some trivia shit about music years ago. Like modern day shit "facist" is watered down to "anyoen I don't like" for these people the last over a decade now

The country is still a country, it's more or less the people with most vocal presence on both "sides" in current year eternal are performative vultures with no true beliefs. Skinwalkers with power over others never ends well.

Shouldn’t be too bummed about it. The backlash against performative patriotic bullshit means we might be able to refocus and take some power back from the carpet baggers
