Regimes rise and fall, yes. It's the people that are eternal.
Roman descendants (Italians) are still around because their people never went extinct. "Americans" are not an ethnic group, so all that will remain after the regime falls is the weird amalgamation of different people that will cut each other up and consolidate into ethnic and racial group within random land borders. "American" people do not exist, because the people commonly called "Americans" aren't even of the same race lolz. Only land without the people will remain after the collapse, and thus no new American nation to remember and honor your deeds will appear again.
There's nothing that can be done about it - the US is just a strange experiment that only managed to last this long by chance. So again, celebrate while you still have time.
