I managed to feed 1 kad ever... I just wanted the trophy since I don't worry too much about avatars. I've seen profiles with 1000s fed and I can appreciate wanting number to go up, but it does kind of suck that it makes it impossible if you want the avatar. I wonder if the 40 year old fat lesbian who yells at overfeeding kads could take on the 40 year old fat lesbian who overfeeds the kads if it came to blows, which it probably would if they met. Either way, an ambulance is getting involved before one swing is taken because the effort of moving and yelling is probably more than the fat lesbians are used to.

I played this years and years ago when I was a kid, before the tcg or any of the games, until I caught an immediate permaban for writing “wtf” on somebody’s profile or something. The only pets I remember having were a fire shoyru and a faerie meerca I got from the lab ray. RIP xX_deathscythe666_Xx the meerca

If it makes you feel any better, someone probably broke into your account and stole the meerca for trading purposes because the OC pet designs are worth big dollars now.

Unsure how the site is holding now. I was silenced in 2014 and just gave up. I do remember that I had countless avatars and some trophies from some games.
There is a Neopets game on the Switch that I should try.

I was once temp banned for a typo, where I added a stray "f" in the middle of a sentence by accident and someone thought it was an abbreviation for "fuck".
Also the Switch game, as far as I know, is just a collection of ports of a few flash games. They have been given graphical upgrades but the games are essentially the same as what is available on the website. Ice Cream Machine, Kass Basher, Faerie Bubbles, etc.

It's 20+ years too late, but what the fuck happened with skins in the game? I remember there were paints to get a unique skin for your pet. It was all ridiculously rare, and locked behind auctions that closed to everyone but a small group and costing years worth of content grind money.

I mean genuinely kind of yeah. When I played the game as a kid from roughly 2003 to 2009 paint brushes were extremely hard to save up for and were mostly purchased by "elite" players who had various other means of getting Neopoints

Yeah getting a paintbrush was a pain(t) in the ass.
Then there was the threat of Boochi turning your painted pet into a baby or any other random event changing the gender/species/color of your pet. Random events were scary and awesome haha.

I have it, it's kinda arse but fun. It's also on steam with mostly negative reviews because it was so broken at release (same for switch) might be worth looking at it with the steam sales.
As a grown arse adult in covid times i bought a paintbrush off one of those dodgy websites. Sold it for bank and got some cool petpets which i sold for bank and getting other stuff.

the best way back in my day was making 300 accounts and using a fansite that would just run a script on your browser to tick all the "click ad for NP" promos they had on the site at the time without actually launching off the script page and itd rake about 50k per day per account, young me thrived on that scheme to make enough to buy a draik egg at the time and then get immediately chain frozen / IP banned after a couple weeks.
i remember there was a user who was raked over the coals and people demanded they should be frozen for having two dudes kissing shirtless on their lookup. i think they finally did get frozen but unfortuntely years later it's now a bizarro world where they rake you over the coals if you dont have two dudes kissing on your lookup
the only good thing we get on neopets now is the drip fed art from quartervirus in the tcg. which sucks because the other 99% of the art in it is so tremendously ass it's not even worth buying to rip. i still have a real somber spot for neopets and do my best to put blinders on where i can when it comes to the community, but i'd love to collect the TCG if 1) the game actually functioned and 2) they had a lot more higher quality artists pumping cards out.
or make some merch that isn't anniversary or baby themed jesus christ why are we sleeping on royals and draigans for merch its like they find every pathway to make me as miserable as possible with this IP i'm still nostalgically territorial over

Yes! They were considered pioneers of advertising for being one of the first online entities to incorporate ads directly into their games with the ad itself being the theme (The BiC pen game had a chokehold on me as a child), and as diegetic elements of the universe (like having a temporary McDonalds location on the map, and I argue the Wizards shop counts too).
I don't have an exact timeline in front of me, but I'd say that those elements existed from about 2000-2013 primarily.
