I think in this case it could be as simple as mods not being nearly as well documented as the base game when it comes to guides so he wouldn't be able to guide read every single step of the way. Same thing with the randomizer. Of course, the randomizer COULD give him a cheesy weapon right at the start but he could also be picking up trash or good weapons that you can't use in early levels.
Gotta disagree with this even though it's a funny thought. The only reason Phil goes on long rants on stream is because he's in the safety of his hugbox. In person, from almost all accounts online and from the scattered videos available that show his behavior at conventions and such, he's a total bitch who's much more likely to keep his mouth shut and try to avoid being noticed. I imagine that's become even more the case now that he thinks detractors might be around every corner and he needs to lie low like he's in witness protection.

Especially with how long he played Elden Ring. Going back and replaying the older Souls games after Elden Ring is like Goku taking off his weighted clothing you just breeze through everything besides a few bosses but somehow DSP looks worse than ever going back.
