Tales of the Competency Crisis - How do I into anything?

>has no technical knowledge, can't answer any of my technical questions
Isn't this a giant red flag that they're only hiring Jeets and whoever else the HR team secretly wants to fuck?

>keeps saying 'we value patience here' because I stated the interview was for one o'clock
The funny thing is, there isn't a lot to be gained from being patient with someone who barely understands what the purpose of their job is or that they can't be bothered to maintain their attendance rate so that shit can actually be finished on schedule and within the budget. Especially when it's courteous for all parties involved to be punctual since you have no way of knowing of just how tight of an schedule someone else is.

But hey, the HR rep isn't exactly an indicator of how fast the company is tanking...But it might be a sign that your would-be co-workers might be half as lazy as she is

Yes it's definitely jeet infested in terms of unskilled labor. So it's basically a write-off imo. I haven't seen the inside of this kind of facility though, so if she calls I'll go back just out of curiosity.

But hey, the HR rep isn't exactly an indicator of how fast the company is tanking
I believe her when she says they're expanding, but that's ascribable to tariffs, infinite government gibs, and foreign labor. She practically creamed herself when I mentioned the government announcing the latest tranche of money coming their way.

There's a lot of industry out there that can absorb the enormous damage to equipment that comes with jeet hands because 'inflation' allowed them to double the price of bread. However, it's on me to repair that equipment, and I will literally leave the country before putting up with that again.

This is how HR prescreens work. Then she will tell the hiring manager that Dikshit Ramaswamy ranked the highest because he’s very qualified for the role and the white men are ranked the lowest because of a lack of fit into the company culture. She will conveniently leave out being 15-20 minutes late. Hiring managers often times do not have the time to independently assess the candidates and don’t have the will or political capital to circumvent the prescreen process.

The prescreener couldn’t give a shit less about how technical the role is, she just wants to make sure that the slate of candidates align with their diversity in hiring goals. They know they can’t get away with just saying the white guys are white guys, she will do her part to come up with bullshit why they wouldn’t be qualified for the role.

Like I said in another thread, with all that bullshit about online shopping (shipping fee, the wait time, potential incompetence, potential porch poaching, potential hazards from elements, etc), how the hell did online shopping even start a "retail apocalypse" anyway?
People are too lazy to drive and the COVID lockdown killed off a handful of specialty retailers. But the coof was just an final convenience in Amazon just taking over everything
I often try to go to local shops and brick-and-mortar stores. This is usually my experience:
  • I go to the local hardware store for something basic, like a funnel, mole grip, or pair of pliers. Half the store is dog toys and bird seed. About 30% of the time they will have the thing I need.
  • I go to Screwfix/Toolstation/B&Q because the hardware store doesn't have what I want. Often they don't have it or don't have it and will offer to order it. B&Q takes the longest, as I can't just browse the catalogue for what I want.
  • Out of desperation, go into Tesco and have a look to see if they have something in the hardware aisle. Usually nothing.
  • I then find the same stuff online on Amazon for half the price and will be delivered to me sometimes the same day. Amazon is good for one-time cheap specialised tools, e.g., a 36 mm viscous fan spanner; you are going to use that twice a year if working on your vehicle.
Car parts are even worse. There is basically Halfords, which is okay for really generic stuff to repair your car. For anything remotely specialist (Land Rover), I either have to drive 30-50 miles away into the middle or just order it from LRParts, JGS4x4 or similar, which will be shipped the next day if I pay them enough money. Often for other brands of cars, I will be scouring eBay for a decent breaker because the dealer wants £1800 for a light cluster. Don't even bother buying aftermarket.

In town there are vape shops, some weird market run by the council or something, coffee shops, charity shops, CeX, Aldi and some of the usual big-name high street stores. I have to dodge people trying to get me to donate the £3 a month to save the dogs in Cambodia or something and have to pay £3-5 an hour to park.

Why bother fucking around like this when I can go on Google shopping and have it shipped to my door sometimes the same fucking day?

Sounds like you're in the UK. Over here in the USA the situation is reversed: online shopping usually takes longer than a day, and in-person seems to be the much better way.

Yes. Anything that uses Royal Mail, unless you pay through the nose, is normally 2-3 days. Courier is usually 24-48 hours. "Click and Collect" & Amazon are usually same-day / next-day.

The only thing I don't want to buy online really is furniture. Ironically that is often one thing that they won't have in store at all when you go to the fucking furniture stores.

"For the rest of the range, scan the QR code." Like seriously, the reason I am here is so I can see whether this stuff is any good. I am fed up with ordering fucking Chinesium bollocks that barely fits together.

It all depends on what you're shopping for and where you live in the USA.

Where I live if you're shopping for car parts you're in luck. We have an Autozone, O'Malley Auto Parts, and Advance Auto within two blocks of each other in three different locations. For almost anything else, it's Walmart, Sam's Club, or Thrift Stores. That's basically it. We used to have a mall but after the "youths" kept stealing and rioting there, it closed sometime around 2016.

Going to Walmart is an experience. It's basically all the internet memes about "Seen at Walmart" come to life. If you're lucky enough to find what you're looking for, and it's not a Made in China POS, you go to check out and there's a line around the store because only one of the 36 checkout lines are open. Forget about the self-checkout lane because you're going to be waiting until the end of time for the room temperature IQ person in front of you to try to figure out how to work the self checkout. Then when she does, she'll call the Customer Service attendant over because she wants to buy cigarettes, and it will take another 20 minutes for the 95 year old attendant to hobble over to the locked case, another 5 for her to find the right key, and another 10 for her to hobble back over.

By then, you get frustrated and put your items back and just go home and order it on Amazon.

Would it be appropriate to start emailing complaints to the company about how unprofessional their prescreener was?

My favourite is being made to wait at the self-checkout for several minutes because the weight doesn't match by like 10 grams (I have no idea what that is in freedom units, but it basically nothing) and there is no store attendant around.

And.... it's locked up. Socks? Batteries? Anything possibly electronic? all locked up. I was talking to a guy who runs a grocery store in town and they have one small area of USB chargers and cables... they had to lock it up.

We're lucky to have multiple hardware stores in town, but only one has a website and stock is accurate but search sucks. So you kind of guess if one of the other stores might have what you want. And even if they do you'll often end up with some random connectors hooked together which if you had just ordered from Amazon or Home Depot you could have gotten the exact right connector in a day or two. And if you want something electronic your only option in the state is Best Buy, so you're stuck ordering on-line or driving the hour and a half each way if they actually have it, but at least their stock is accurate.

While it's not exactly about race, certain countries actually do have their own set legislation that actually enforces these hiring goals. Egypt has an law that demands that 5% of the workforce is filled by the disabled. But due to the government not giving a shit about anything that would help the invalids with this, the rest of that article is just people complaining about how employers are just cheating the system.

As for the first-world, it's probably just corpos trying to maintain their "proof" that they're an inclusive employer by only hiring shitskins while being just productive enough to eat the losses.

That's barely an third of an ounce. For me it doesn't always register what gets placed in the bagging area or that I inadvertently brought something that had to get carded for.

Either way, Wal-Mart is shit because everything worth buying has one of those alarms strapped to it or it's locked behind the case and someone almost let the keys to it. And there's usually an line, despite having 12 registers, only one to four of them are open. And self checkout is even worse because one can only accept cards for some bullshit reason and the other 7 is barely enough to keep up with the demand.

I think I last made a successful purchase at Walmart in 2012. Everything about that place is so incredibly frustrating. I have left an entire shopping cart filled with goods in the aisle because being there gave me a mental health crisis. I'm not the sort of person who loses her shit, but Walmart does it for me. A relative gave us a gift card there. After five years of trying and failing to use it in store we finally just used their online store. It's almost identical to Amazon's offerings but the interface is clunky so I don't really get who uses Walmart instead of Amazon as far as online shopping goes.
Half the store is dog toys and bird seed.
It's like this at Home Depot and Ace in the States too. Home Deep is so huge it makes it seem like it has what you need but when it comes down to it, there's way too much gimmicky impulse buy crap and decor. All craft stores are like this too. Mostly pre-made tchotchkes, which takes up room for basic supplies to make your own decor. I don't get it.

One I love even more is when you're buying in-house bakery goods or unpackaged fruits/vegetables. If the checkout doesn't have that exact product in its searchable list it has one which when selected throws an error and locks you out until an attendant comes by. Plus sometimes the listed SKU on the shelf can be wrong so circumventing it by remembering/writing it down and manually entering it yourself doesn't get you away from still needing the damn attendant.

And.... it's locked up. Socks? Batteries? Anything possibly electronic? all locked up. I was talking to a guy who runs a grocery store in town and they have one small area of USB chargers and cables... they had to lock it up.
I've completely given up going to convenience stores for this reason. Only a few years back I'd go to my neighbourhood's local one for snack crap, but everything is now locked up thanks to "teens" and druggies, there's only ever a couple of clerks around, and you're waiting 5-10 minutes just to get what you're after even with no one else in the store given how many different keys must be used for each isle.

I had one, which I think I've bitched here about before.
I was buying loose rolls. I had the code. I put it in, expecting it to ask me how many. It added one. Fine, this is stupid. I put the code in again. It added a second one. I put the code in again. "ERROR, TOO MANY OF SAME ID, ATTENDANT NEEDED"... what the fuck, I can't buy 4 rolls? The attendant agreed it was stupid as she approved my 3rd roll and keyed in the same code for the 4th roll.

There are enough kool aid drinkers out there to still think jeets are the perfect solution. They check diversity boxes and they got a masters degree in computer science from the Poojwal Institute of Technology, which is on par with MIT, from what they heard. The typical CXO believes they discovered this amazing cheat code with jeets. It’s going to be a long time until they learn their lesson. Then a couple years there will be the brilliant idea to hire more people from India. I have personally witnessed this cycle happen three times at my employer. They never fucking learn.

I’m seeing small and medium sized companies in my Industry tearing away at the large ones. Probably due to Jeets.

It's something ridiculously silly like that, as I've seen them come over, check my bag and then press 'ignore weight', and the weight is something like a 10-gram difference.

If it was a publicly-traded corporation I would agree with you, they're all interested in hitting targets and couldn't give less of a shit if it sinks the company. But, I'm specifically soliciting businesses where the original founder is still in charge. This place is run by a Ukrainian though, so I guess it's just money-grubbing. The places run by Dutch-descendent are incomparably better and I'll probably go with them.

Contractors are living mighty large these days since they're small enough to avoid discrimination legislation and can get away with all-White crews. Charge the corporates triple what the job is worth because the in-house people are too diverse to fix it themselves.

First off, that article was written for actual tards. Mainly because spacing out each sentence like that and simplifying them is exactly what they've been whining for, lately.

But I'm not exactly surprised that the country with a large population of working-class illiterates never had the need to actually name their streets. Apparently, an lack of administrative oversight led to several roads being randomly renamed or just forgotten. Kind of raises the question on how the government keeps tracks of the various paperwork that they process from their citizens
