There's stories of people coming across Phil back 15 years ago when he was a popular Youtuber and he ignored everyone and was paranoid then. I think the bank leaks actually probably spooked him into never going out in public again unless absolutely necessary. We already knew exactly what days he was leaving his house, now we knew exactly where he was going. He was already paranoid and looking for any excuse to stay inside his house at all times, the bank leaks were the final straw and gave him an excuse to become a complete hermit once and for all.
