Well, of course the opposition isn't going to do shit, but that doesn't mean the government can continue on free fall forever. It just can't. The powers that be aren't loyal to a *completely* failed state for too long. It might take a few years, but just wait 'till Maduro runs out of petro dollars to finance the army. They'll dump Maduro's ass on a unmarked grave and declare martial law.
 
The Fascists Rightwing was corrupt too, but at least the train ran and food arrived. Late, and with missing cargo, but they fucking arrived. Venezuela is going to be Trumps first foreign intervention one way or another. gonna be fun as fuck.

People really underestimate how easy it is to start a civil war. You only need a couple people dedicated to challenge the status quo.
Now, winning a civil war on the other hand... yeah, that's a beast of a completely different kind. Usually, that's the part were ground attack planes, tanks and assault rifles come in handy.

International support, too. One of the many reasons the South lost the war was because they had literally zero export business and thus never got military support from the still-powerful British, French or Spanish empires.
