A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

They’re in deep shit, then, because if the whole U.K. goes off - even if just a few cities, like London, Manchester, Brum, Glasgow, Bradford etc - they’ll have no hope of controlling it. I was contacted by a GHCQ recruiter to work on some internal systems last year. The salary for a developer position there is quite poor compared to the private sector.

Why isn't there a massive movement to confront the 87% of crimes? Hypotically, if that 87% were to be eradicated, UK residents would be far better off than if we "deported them all".

Let's say the impossible happens, the UK Gov invest lots of money (of course, at the detriment of quality of life for the average person), getting rid of all foreign nationals - they are still left with over 800,000 inidividual crimes incidents every year.

Depends on the MP. Most MPs will spend the week in and around London and won't be out and about, but Friday is set aside as a day for MPs to hold surgeries in their constituency - basically an opportunity for constituents to meet their MP and moan about potholes or social care or some other issue they are struggling with. Which means they are in public and in person at a predetermined location. A Tory MP was stabbed to death by a bulbhead about a decade ago whilst holding a surgery. A Labour MP was badly wounded in the same circumstances in 2010 by IIRC a mentally ill woman.

The big problem the police have in Belfast (and Norn Iron more generally) is that these are not riots, or protests descending into riots. There is no one big group of people you can build a cordon around and keep contained. These are much smaller groups targeting specific buildings and moving fast. And it isn't something that mainland police are trained to deal with either.

If the crowds we saw in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Liverpool, last night, who were already going after delivery drivers, start taking notes from the Belfast protestors (barricades, no cameras, masks) and we start seeing full-black outfits instead of looking like they are going to the pub, we are fucked.
The other worrying development is that the dislike for Stephen Yaxley seems to be growing among certain types after he kept sucking the cock of 'good Indians'. I believe his decision to turn up at Southampton and disperse the crowd from the courthouse made the protest lose a lot of steam once people started walking and milling about outside the Digwa house with no real goals (+ the presence of auditors). If he loses his ability to wrangle protests (and yes, he did put out the call for demonstrations last night, but he was not at any) things could get very grim.
Doubly precarious is the outrage towards how the police treat Brits, any arrests or scuffles with police will make the situation worse for the state as 'two tier justice' allegations will not go away.
I genuinely believe we are on a knife's edge right now as there are still UK protests being planned (County Road and the counter-protest), and there will be more attacks, and the easy solution is for the government to just stay 'pools closed' and immediately halt all asylum seeker applications, even a temporary pause, to let some of the pressure off. They won't do this.

Also I saw a fucking advert for 'Bobby Singh Esq' in the Bullring, the retard Sikh who wanted to piss on Henry's grave. No idea what he was advertising, just his face and ratty beard up on the billboards. Disgusting.
