UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679 (https://archive.ph/5Ba6o)

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

@Champion of Khorne welcome to Kiwi Farms, enjoy the future backstabbing from people who claim to be your friends but then round on you. I see that you're not a fan of Nigel, which is fine, but can any of the Nigel-knockers seriously give a reason as to why they don't like him? Is it because they actually fear that when he becomes PM they'll literally have nothing to moan about and why the adoration for Rupert Lowe when all he is doing is helping Labour stay in power... not really as if there's some Labour and OFCOM shills here is it? Speaking of shills, where's Duane Dibbley? Oh... of course! @Otterly at least is a good and decent person and she has my respect.
I don't understand why are you so pissed at KF?

Most here obviously prefer Reform and Restore over the other parties, but we can't ignore the worrying fact that they might dillute their electoral promises, similar to how GOP and Trump did it.

Sure, I think Trump has been the best choice for president, but I am disappointed how he still has the "90s democrat mentality". I think Farage might be the same, maybe even more moderate and unwilling to be radical.

but can any of the Nigel-knockers seriously give a reason as to why they don't like him
Yes, it's because when it finally looked like the country had finally had enough of the Labour/Tory uniparty politics he immediately revealed his true colours, that being shitskin brown and Tory blue. To sit there and claim you're going to fix the country while simultaneously recruiting some of the exact people who not only didn't help, but actively made it worse is horseshit.

As for the "we're the only credible option to win on the right" (assuming you faggots even count as right wing by any actual standard) you're probably correct, and as much as I might prefer Lowe at this point I don't think Restore is going to win. Regardless I'm still never going to vote for you faggots, and if that splits the vote and Labour or the Tories sneak back in then so fucking be it. I'm fed up to the back teeth of most parties campaigning either on tactical voting, or presenting themselves as the lesser of two evils. If you want my vote then maybe earn it with actual policies/actions for a change.

As an American following British politics (because ATM it's more exciting than American politics right now), I cannot understand how anyone would support Reform over Restore. Nigel is the definition of a cuck. He cucks on everything, even immigration, the #1 issue of the day. His stances depend on what day it is. He's an attention whore. Rupert is a serious person with serious goals. He's a Brit, through and through, and intends to make life better for Brits (I will hedge this statement by saying "unless he turns traitor" because at this point such a hedge is a requirement for right wingers).

Guys, make us proud. I'm begging you. Build a big fuck off navy again, ship your invaders back by the millions, maybe take back a few of the old colonies again (not us, fuck off) until you feel the spirits of your ancestors in your blood. Break some shit.

I don't understand why are you so pissed at KF?
Because we keep reminding him that Reform are made up of shit stains like Suella Braverman and Robert Jenrick, who respectively were the Home Secretary and Immigration minister who let in that stabby nigger who just caused Belfast to catch fire.

And when he promises they'll really work for us this time, we laugh at him and call him a retarded faggot.

@Null Reform UK will make it official that they will axe OFCOM when their next manifesto is launched, feel free to reach out to the party at any time.
If you genuinely believe that I have some magic beans you might be interested in buying

I don't blame @Made In Wales for joining reform, at this moment in time they have the best shot of winning and implementing at least some amount of change. And at least its some form of political participation, that's more than most of the people on this thread do but once they get in they will change their tune very quickly. Economically speaking Nigel Farage is only slightly further to the right of Johnson, do you seriously think he won't keep the flow of migrants coming to work on subsistence wages like Johnson did? Farage can promise the moon and the stars before he gets into government but when he gets in and inherits a sluggish economy he will be singing the praises of the "doctors and engineers" coming in the thousands every year to fill jobs Lazy Brits just aren't willing to do. You seem like a smart guy, I hope you will have the common sense to stop backing this horse that's headed off a cliff before it's too late.

Could you imagine a Britain without Bend it Like Beckham and Freddie Mercury?

Now, a message from the REAL Llyr Powell (sorry to break it to you but I am not him, have never been him but have recently met him) - he was recently sent death threats by somebody (or somebodies) who is a member of this site. I have had to explain to Llyr and Nigel that yes I did use Kiwi Farms and they have advised me not to use the site going forward, though both have appreciated my reasons for using it and both advocate for freedom of speech and have no issue with Kiwi Farms' purpose save for the couple of idiots who, thinking I was Llyr Powell, have taken their hate campaign against me into the real world. At a time when this site is facing a kicking from Starmer and OFCOM, the last thing it needs is members actively working against what @Null has tried to create and making itself look bad instead of the victim (which I believe it is, given the relentless attacks from both the MSM and DDOS obsessed trolls who have been cyberattacking the website recently).
If this is true and I doubt it you, Llyr and Nigel are American retarded politicians levels of retarded given that's the last person who fell for "I am totally from Kiwi Farms" claim.

How'd they send their death threats, using their Kiwfarms email address? Or is it someone who said, "by the way to make it easier for the police I am a member of notorious far-right website KiwiFarms"?

You're saying someone on the site made death threats to politicians? Tell the mods using a PM. Don't make a public claim unless you know who it is and have the evidence. If you actually don't and just believe some zero evidence claim your time away has done you no favours because you were not that level of foolish previously.
@Champion of Khorne is not me, I have no idea who he/she is but I see that this newcomer is now getting the same treatment on here that I did for not kowtowing and ditching my support for Nigel Farage and Reform UK despite working for the party and supporting Nigel from when he was leader of UKIP and then The Brexit Party which morphed into Reform UK.
Or it could be because the previous page to your post they were saying someone subject to gang rape by a bunch of Afghans had it coming?

Otherwise hope life's treating you well.

I can imagine the UK without cousin marriage, child marriage, FGM, specialist maternity nurses trained for inbred infants, women walking five paces behind their husbands, while every part of their body aside from the eyes are covered and their husbands are in jeans and trainers. I can imagine a UK with low crime, reduced pressure of housing, school, universities, medical institutions and the court system where we don't have to fritter away millions of pounds on translators.

I can imagine a relatively safe UK where prisons are run to punish first, and rehabilitate those who are truly willing, and which run under capacity, where a "life" sentence doesnt mean you'll be out on probation in less than a decade.

I can imagine a UK where entry level jobs are plentiful and grown adults don't need to rely on the inhumane humiliation of a zero hours contract topped up with state benefits to support a family; where we are overwhelmingly racially and religiously homogeneous, where animals aren't slaughtered barbarically for a demonic perversion of faith.

I can imagine a UK which is better and more dignified for those of us with the ethnic and cultural birthright to be here; where we are given dignity and stability, where our culture and history is celebrated and that, that, is why I believe, more than anything else I have believed in my life, that no matter how hard and difficult it may be, 99.9% of them need to fuck back off to whatever shit hole they're from.

Farage is more socially acceptable, and he is more popularly known. Rupert Lowe isn't nearly as well known.

Most people's understanding of politics is surface-level, and they often just repeat talking points they've heard on LBC, Radio 4, etc.

Protest is the language of the unheard, and should be uncomfortable, remember.

Firey but mostly peaceful. etc.

I can imagine a UK where small innocent girls aren’t stabbed to death at dance classes. In fact I remember it.

I would guess that around half of Restore voters wouldn't bother to vote without them. So, if Restore/2+Reform>Labour and Reform loses Makerfield Restore spoiled.

I don't believe Lowe is trying to win this cycle. Farge built up too much good will from Brexit to replace him. Lowe is just running for revenge for being kicked out of party and to keep his seat because another election will happen before Farge retires. If you're not trying to form a government you are not trying to win and no-one will vote for you--so he has to pretend.

It really sums up the mentality of our politicians that they'd feel anger in response to being informed they have the ability to control what their children access.
I can't imagine wanting to give up my own parental responsibility and hand it to the government.

but can any of the Nigel-knockers seriously give a reason as to why they don't like him?
Certainly, he's a cash-grabbing charlatan. Ever since he got what he wanted through Brexit and increased his wealth, he has done nothing but show that he will do anything for cash. His party has also allowed councillors who are either completely inexperienced in public sector policy or outright retarded to the detriment of the unfortunate people he & his wealthy Netenyahu-blowing friends have psyop'd into voting for him.

Let me be clear: immigration is an issue, and it has to be managed in a way that benefits both the country's native residents and the economy. I do not argue that. But making it your hardline/ headline policy? ICE-style deportations? Dog shit. Please, Mr Reform, how is the UK Gov (under reform) meant to scrap a government agency like the Home Office and raise a fresh one from the ground that is 10x more effective than the original function, whilst remaining within budget & contending with sweeping tax cuts? It's another cash grab opportunity for himself, his friends, he'll put into senior posts inside that "new agency" - and his donors.

It's Trump-style politics - promise then underdeliver. Or to be more accurate, lie about your policies to get in power, then line your own pockets whilst mildly delivering upon your manifesto.

Let's look at the past 20 years in Westminster, whether Labour, Conservative or Lib Dem Coalition - each party has blamed their inability to enact change on the party before them, cleaning up the mess they have supposedly made. Being that Reform is contrary to all those preceding parties, how are they going to enact such sweeping change within a single sitting Parliament? Answer = they won't.

Also, getting millions donated to you from people who have not lived in the UK for decades (or ever) is never a sign of someone who has your interests at heart.

I do not doubt for a second that there are Reform candidates who are honest, well-intentioned & well versed enough to carry some kind of positive change into the UK. With Farage at the helm, those candidates' efforts are completely wasted.

"Let's fix immigration by leaving the EU. Sorry, what's that EU? You're not willing to take back migrants who came to the UK through your soil without payment because we are no longer part of EU legislation? At least we have our sovereignty back. Oh wait no we don't - vote for our ideology again, trust me, it'll work this time, I'm just like you!!!"

Ever notice how everything went massively downhill since Brexit? Why trust that exact line of thinking again?
