Path of Exile

I want to level with Arc because chain lightning is always my favorite arpg caster archetype. How good is it in poe2 for leveling? It doesn't have to be meta, but I also don't want to waste my time trying to use a skill that ends up being insanely slow or annoying to build for.

My first poe character was an arc totem templar (during Legion I think) and I have fond memories of it, though I have played very casually on and off since.
Something like Spark spell totems seem more viable than Arc at the moment with the Ancestral Bond keystone changes.

Looking at poe ninja shows way more builds with Spark than Arc, but what makes Spark more viable? Is there more support for it or is there some damage thing that makes it easier to build around?

I've always wanted to know how to determine whether a skill could be better than another in PoE or PoE 2.

Spark has a much lower cast time than Arc is the main thing. Also it ricochets and covers a much wider area, so you don't have to aim it. It does less damage (unless shotgunning), but it's mainly used to trigger Cast on Critical, so the damage is less relevant anyway. The slow cast speed of Arc makes it to where you actually have to invest in increasing your cast speed to make it feel good - so while it can do more damage per cast than spark, it's much less useful for triggering other skills and requires more investment to make it good. Spell Totems can probably offset a lot of that, but, to me, totems of all sorts just don't feel right in POE2 yet.

I think I am going to be suckered into melee again with martial artist and quit before hitting higher map tiers.
I'm seriously debating martial artist. I think it will be pretty good for a league starter. I don't think they spent so much time on showcasing the new ascendency for it to completely suck.

I think zookeeper is the bait for league starting as the sceptre only drops from ritual pinnacle boss. I'm thinking that I can get the zookeeper chase items quicker on monk.

I am worried about melee splash dmg nerf though.

Just a reminder to people. You can cheese the start by getting to town, selling all the bad gear, cutting your quest gem(make sure you put it in your stash), and then resetting. This way you can accumulate some gold to get a gg bow/spear and get some skill synergies going.

This sounds kinda stupid.
You can just progress normally and get better gear and currency then waste time like this.
Unless I'm missing something in this scheme you're suggesting.

Might be a decent idea in HC? But even there I think gogogogogo campaign rush is the best idea(just don't die lmao).
I wonder how popular HC is in poe2. I still get smacked from time to time in campaign. I can't imagine getting to maps in 5h, getting gibbed and doing campaign AGAIN :lossmanjack:
I played HC in D2 and PoE before but it felt much more reasonable there.

It will take you longer to find the second skill gem and items get more expensive as you level. It takes less than 10 minutes to get through tutorial/check vendor and sell items.

A +1 to skills on a blue weapon from vendors makes a huge difference on clear speed. And if you want to run twister with a spear but aren't going huntress, you need the reset to get that second attack for twister synergy.

So basically, I will start league on a huntress. Cut both the gems (whirling attack and twister) and then come back on monk and now I have a third skill gem (frost blast) on my lvl 1 character with all 3 adding synergy, + the base spear from huntress in case I get unlucky at vendor. I will probably only reset 2-3x since it's kinda boring and you are right, that at some point it's quicker just to progress through campaign.

I believe that if someone dies during the campaign, he's mentally retarded.
I believe that if someone dies before 80, he's just a bad player.
Everything after, is whatever.

You don't need to grind the early game, even in HC. Just play the game normally, it's not that hard, especially if you've done this before.

Then again, maybe I'm used to the HC mindset of PoE1 of actually investing a bit into survival and not be a glass cannon and trying to facetank red slams.

When I'm playing SC, I always go glass cannon. I died once in the campaign because I alt-tabbed to talk to someone on Discord lol. I was kinda pissed at myself for not pausing the game tbh. In my first league, I died A LOT. But I think the game was actually harder then. I came back in the third league, and things felt much easier. I really wouldn't mind a harder campaign with increased XP and rewards, but I can understand why GGG lowered the difficulty to keep the casuals playing. I hope they give us an option in the future for a harder experience, though.

In Diablo 3, I did a fair amount of HC and had 3 characters over 1k paragon. I will definitely check out HC when the game releases, but not before then. It's a totally different way of playing, and honestly, I might even do it SSF just so I don't get greedy trying to make currency on the market. The most important thing in HC is not dying. The most important thing in SC is currency per hour.

Is there any other way? In PoE1 you could travel to more life but I can't think of any passive defense on tree that will help you that much through the campaign in poe2. You can dodge everything after all.
Even if I play SC, if I die during the campaign, I logout, delete my character and start a new one. I just can't go on playing with the knowledge that I'm a worthless nigger.

And yes, the PoE2 tree is light in defensive nodes, but they're not non-existent. Also, I bet most people don't even use sockets to plug resist and life runes.
This, coupled with severe mental deficiency, is why global is spammed by shitters asking for kills on act bosses.
It just makes me sick to my stomach. I honestly think I hate people asking for boss kills in global more then I hate forum jannies, and I despise jannies with the burning power of ten thousand sons.

Oh, and I think I'll start this league with a Huntress and go for a pokemon build. I want some tiddy boss as my personal pet. And yes, this comes from a place of coom, because I don't care that much about build efficiency.

Tame Beast is for beast type bosses only...do you have something to share to the class, Christian Chandler?

League is today! I'm gonna play lich or abyssal lich because it's been too long since I've played an explodey build and I want chaining mob explosions.
