Not going to pretend to be an expert on Shinobu Moonrunes, but I did need to learn some for work and such a while back. Her sentence structure seems very elementary and janky/awkward and the katakana used for ‘romantic’ is more referring to the emotion of romance, not the word typically used to describe someone as a romantic (musouka/ 夢想家), which isn’t a word borrowed from English the way ‘ロマンス‘ (ro-ma-n-su) is.

Their exchange all comes across as informal, masculine, and disrespectful, but here’s hoping my desire to nitpick doesn’t out my own ignorance. Japanese language has a lot of really specific words and kanji to express specific concepts without saying said concepts blatantly. I was always told word choice and consideration to those rules to be especially important when trying to communicate at a higher level for various reasons

ETA: there are even different words for romance as a concept. One as romance being deeply in love ‘れんあい’ (re-n-a-i) and romance aka the act of meeting someone and falling in love where you get the English borrower ‘ロマンス’ (ro-ma-n-su).
