So I never understood why there were so many people that hated him when I was growing up, although I never followed his stuff, but that's why I'm asking. Seems like these Hollywood/Music Industry people corrupted a young boy with talent and a bright future.

It was like a meme, people would always hate on Justin.

I think this happens to most of the teenage "icons". Once kids grow up, they want it to be clear that they are no longer babies, and with that, they reject and mock what the younger generation enjoys most, or what they themselves used to enjoy.

It's pretty tricky to manage growing up with your audience without them turning on you for being a cringe lord. Whether you change or not.

And Bieber’s music, at least for a time, could be marketed to a demographic whose parents still controlled their buying power, and their parents were, probably, at least young enough to know how to drop their CC info into iTunes. He was one of the last NA pop vocalists who could be pushed in a more traditional fashion which, as others have pointed out, led to his twee shit to be injected everywhere it could in pop culture, and pushing twee shit to a wider audience is like trying to hit a triple bullseye blindfolded: you’re gonna fuck it up and at the end someone’s probably hurt.

I have trouble feeling bad for him because he’s pulled shit well into an age where he ought to have known better, but at the same time he got rich and popular at the worst age for a man to become rich and popular. A grade schooler has a better chance of making it out of that well-adjusted.

It is, insofar at least as what the American music-listening experience was back when Bieber was hot. Terrestrial radio was still widely used (in the heartland, at least; I’m not experienced with what coastal reptilioids had to deal with nor do I care, those places aren’t real) and on account of said radio system’s FM band being owned by about four megacompanies your selection as a radio listener was in the toilet. You’d get top 40, hip-hop, country and an NPR affiliate if you were lucky. Rock/alternative or decades stations (“the best of 80s and 90s”, etc) unless you were close to a major city or large public university were nearly all dead. And Bieber had just enough crossover for him to get played on stations other than top 40 (which was a reason he was pushed further into hip-hop after he hit, so he could be shoved onto another market), so his music was heavily saturated here, and that’s not even getting into the media his music was licensed for.

ETA: or what sort of play he was getting on MTV/VH1. It’s been decades since I watched either and I wouldn’t be surprised if the Internet killed the broadcast music entertainment industry faster than it did others in the same sphere but if they still had significant viewerships I’m sure his videos were vomited across their hourly schedules

IIRC Canuck radio stations have to play a certain amount of Canadian music, so he was overplayed. Same reason people hated Nickelback when they weren't any worse than your average buttrock band.
