So I never understood why there were so many people that hated him when I was growing up, although I never followed his stuff, but that's why I'm asking. Seems like these Hollywood/Music Industry people corrupted a young boy with talent and a bright future.

So when he became trashier as he got older they figured that was just who he was.

Like I said, what was a cute precocious kid to older adults and a cute singer to tweens was just like your kid brother singing a stupid song to everyone in between. But they’re not savvy enough to direct their annoyance at the music industry and so the singer gets the derision instead.

I think the hate for Bieber was somewhat justified in most cases, especially considering the person he ended up becoming later in life. Rebecca Black on the other hand didn't deserve the same treatment.
