I remember talking to someone when I was looking for mine (what a fucking depressing process THAT was…) It’s because they’re easy to adjust. It requires very basic tailoring only. Shoulders are one of the harder things to adjust. And yeah, they don’t often look good: to sit well a strapless gown has to have a proper corset AND things like internal waist stays to support the skirts. Very few wedding dresses have that. Despite being so damn expensive.
I miss that so much too.... even the ad campaigns. The photographer was a creep... nevertheless the brand identity is so remarkably cohesive. I doubt we'd be missing it otherwise
Ive been sewing them myself. Got a pattern from the 90s off etsy and it's really cute on me. It's funny as hell to see the difference between 90s and modern vanity sizing, like 90s size 16 is 38-30-40 which is now maybe an 8-10 ffs

I went to pick up my sister from school the other day and I saw ~8th graders dressed like hookers.
Something else that's often paired with the "wore only a bra to school" look is orange paint face + white hair. When girls put 8 kilograms of makeup onto their face to look orange. I don't know if it's the same in the states but seeing teens looking like this disturbs me
Surely that defeats the purpose of slippers? They're supposed to be for wearing in your house. If you wear them outside (except for briefly to take the bins out or answer the door or something) then you'll track dirt into your house, and at that point you may as well just wear shoes. Or walk around barefoot like the uncivilised animal you are.
I tried wearing a pair of slipper boots outside ONCE, immediately walked through a rocky gravelly parking lot and regretted it SO hard. Never took them outside again.
