Unpopular opinions about food

Feels like the idea here isn't the taste but the texture to enclose toppings and spreads into something that won't distract from them, or you just had store bleached ones.
Hmm, sure. If you just use it as a vessel for toppings or wiping up sauce from your plate at the end of the meal it's probably fine. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I do feel I am more sensitive to greasy food than the average American though. Not sure how unpopular this is, but I’m at a point now where I’d rather eat at home than go out to a restaurant because I prefer the way I cook over restaurants throwing a bunch of shit together and seeing what sells.
I'm increasingly like this and eating something like a Five Guys burger is too much. If I do eat a greasy burger, I don't want fries with it. The combo of way too much fat plus starch is just too heavy.

One doesn't eat burgers at Five Guys, one only drinks greasy beef soup with the croutons drenched in the tin foil excuse of a bowl.

I feel Ciabatta is overrated. It's so plain and just tastes like white flour. There are many tastier breads out there. Maybe I would change my mind if I had a chance to try some in Italy, but at least the ones sold here are kind of underwhelming.

Edit. word
Focaccia is the superior Italian bread IMO. Crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside, the best texture food can have, also great if you love olive oil so much to the point that you want bread that tastes like it.

Five Guys is severely overrated. I like the IDEA of having extra fries thrown in my bag like the employees are saying "I make minimum wage, who gives a shit." but basically everything there is too salty. My stomach has also shrunk considerably in recent years so a lot of places are just too much food for me so I almost always skip the fries. I'm not gonna eat them all and reheating fries so they don't taste like shit is usually a hassle unless you have an air fryer.

I also feel the same way about In and Out. I always get crazy looks because I'm from the West Coast and should punch someone in the face to eat there but the burgers are just fine and their fries suck.

Five guys is just grease and salt, that's the only two flavors I taste when I eat their food.

In and out burgers are pretty good but the fries are fucking awful. I'm so sick of these burger places not doing their fries in beef tallow. Fuck off with that peanut oil, vegetable oil bull shit.
I prefer to go to places that are hole in the walls that actually do the fries in beef tallow because they have to use way less salt to make them taste good.

That's the main comment I get that irritates me: "Oh you just don't know what fresh french fries taste like."
Uhm. I know what a potato is supposed to taste like and this isn't it.

It has nothing to do with fresh french fries, vegetable oils taste gross. It has to be beef tallow or nothing for me.
People will also look at me crazy when I suggest we go to a deli instead of subway. For the same price as subway do you know how much better a sandwich is when you go to an actual deli and get the meat sliced right there? It's fucking HEAVENLY to have fresh roast beef on a kaiser roll.
Subway has this sad, slimy meat and they weigh it like it's cocaine. The bread is rubbery. It's depressing, subway sells depressing sandwiches.

Subway is acceptable like Starbucks is acceptable. They're objectively not great but they're everywhere. There are far superior places to get sandwiches and coffee - some chains in my area come to mind and there's a couple excellent delis that makes their own bread and won't let you order off the menu. Those places are always the best

I have always hated butter for no reason. The smell and taste really gross me out, I don't mind it if used as an ingredient in baked goods or for frying food. Just don't like it by itself or on bread/crackers. Maybe I have autism.
Same, but nowhere to your level of autism. Granmas idea of curing a cold with hot fucking milk with butter and some other similar shit melted and mixed in as a kid will ruin all of those for anyone.

Absolutely NO deli outside of NYC/NJ will get you better value/volume of sandwich than a Subway, which is usually flip of a poisoning coin if you get any of the cold cuts. Major supermarket chain delis are almost no better than Subway.

The little delis in my city have some phenomenal sandwiches, the only downside where I live is that they usually close right after lunch. After that, there's Ike's Love and Sandwiches and Erik's Deli Cafe. Both are just a little more expensive than Subway and are a better bang for my buck

Certain foods are just spiritually slop and I refuse to cook them at home. Pizza is a great example, I do not care how easy it is to cook at home, if I am going to cook at home it is not going to be oily bread with oily cheese topped with shit after you smother the bread in oily sauce. If I want pizza it is going to be from a store or a restaurant because the food is supposed to be unhealthy and quick and convenient on a spiritual level, the same goes for hamburgers unless I am grilling in the back yard. That ground beef could be put to better use in stuffed dumplings or in a meatloaf.

Starbucks (the stand-alone ones, not the ones in Target and college campuses) are all corporate owned, as opposed to Subway is basically 100% franchisee owned, with the latter having notoriously bad standards.

For me, it's not so much the fries but the "animal style" fries, microwaved over to the point of inedibility. Animal style fries have probably been THE most overhyped food I've heard of that turned out to be a massive disappointment, at least in my opinion.
