Is there a maximum allowed age for a jet plane to be considered airworthy, or as long as it's maintained, does it not matter?
There's a point where the overhaul costs become higher than the sale price of it, and it becomes economically impossible to justify it.

There is also the airworthiness certificate and the type certificate, the latter applied to the entire series of the aircraft model, if it becomes a orphan because the company went under or is no longer producing parts or refurbishing them because of the age of the model, the FAA or its equivalents can pull it and permanently ground the production line of that plane.

Is there a thread for plane spergs?
linus's plane manual for 100$.
I wonder if anyone would want to get mechanx or whatever online program dassault uses for their maintenance manuals just to look at exactly what was needed to fix the power winch for example. Or what the procedure was to get the overhead panel illumination to work again since he said he was "buying different power supplies" and other shit that did NOT sound right at all.
I doubt they will be able to afford it for long, i'd be amazed if it lasts 2 years, that plane without FLYING costs 1 mil a year.
I looked up the cost for even having a pilot on a full payroll and that was up to 250k a year, now times it by two. But even if he just has to randomly get his uncle and some other rando he knows to fly for him they still need to shell out the money. Do you think Linus is going to just get sick of it and let it rot before selling it? He seems like the stingy type to stop spending money on the maintenance schedule.

He's out of luck if he does that, the TCCA probably doesn't fuck around.
Even if he mothballs the plane, if he doesn't cough up the maintenance cash, it will have it's registry cancelled and it would be a paperweight, he's forced to keep it in flying condition if he has any hope of recovering his investment.

I looked around and it seems Dassault copyrights their manuals, so it's behind paywalls or you're forced to buy a paper copy.
About their maintenance shit, unless he does flight spec shit, he won't be able to clear the regulations to fly the damn thing, he can't jury rig the wiring on the plane, it has to be spec or a flight certified upgrade to the power system.
But even if he just has to randomly get his uncle and some other rando he knows to fly for him they still need to shell out the money.
That is another danger point, his uncle might either be pressured to be lax, or get too comfy working for a family member, and the worse pay you get, you get the worse pilot.
Linus sounds like the kind of dude that would be the boss dude in a mayday episode, i'm certain he can't hear a no and won't trust the judgement of the pilot.

A lot of famous people die in their private jets/helicopters because they push their pilots/mechanics openly or their pilots subconsciously feel pressured to bend the rules for them in the risk of losing their jobs or their bosses admiration.

Do i think he will crash? probably not, but he will be bankrupt in 24 months if he doesn't sell this plane.
I think someone duped his ass into buying that plane, probably some retard at the local rich club or golf club or wherever the fuck he went, or worse, he googled it up one night in curiosity and saw the listing and became obcessed, either way, no one sane or who actually respects their finances and company would ever buy that fucking plane if they were in linus's shoes.

I've said already way back in the thread, he could have bought the same kind of capability for the same price at 1/3-1/2 the operational costs if he choose a twin engine, if he bought a smaller jet, he'd be able to hire only one pilot and keep a 6-8 seat plane for hundreds of thousands instead of 2 million a year, much, much cheaper despite the similar to higher initial purchase price.

He seems like the type to just try and skirt regulations and somehow find a way to forge paperwork even on the thing. He is going to get raped for that but considering the fact he is unwilling to pay wages to employees and openly admitted he got the plane “on a a bargain”, a money-centric man like that will always do something. Usually rich people will fly aircraft in piss poor conditions to meet deadlines or push people to do unsafe-

I actually mentioned this earlier in the thread:
If you are a retard who pushes mechanic crews and pilots to fly on your fucking whim? Yes. A lot of accidents tend to happen mostly due to the pressures from the owners more than anything
I do NOT believe this is going to end well. Usually having family pilots tends to be more dangerous because pilots will become more lax, overlook shit etc. If you look at commercial or private aviation accidents, you will be surprised how much friends and family can be involved in the breakdown of safety.
I absolutely know something is going to happen considering the way he acts and how he is treating owning the aircraft. Inb4 blancolirio makes a video on him in a year or two for some reason or another.

I think he is less the type to “never take no for an answer” since he states that he takes safety seriously, I see it as more he’s the type to get duped by his uncle who is in the situation of being the pilot and a certified mechanic, so he’s in the position of power to tell him whatever bullshit lies he wants to say because Linus doesn’t know any better. You never want a hotshot pilot like that.

This is the reason why I think he’s more likely to get fucked over by his uncle. There is no reasonable way he woke up one day and conjured this into existence when flying had never been a thing to interest him much and his previous statements about private flying. He likely saw it as a “must have” when you are uber rich or something and now has to own one to impress his buddies. Although I can see the “oh man wanna fly on my gaming jet?” And pushing the pilot too far as something to happen.

I am fairly certain a fair few of those planes need an accompanying pilot with a PIC depending on the conditions and even then it sounds like he got the aircraft partially because his uncle is certified to fly the Falcon 900 or Falcon series aircraft. Maybe he was the one to dupe him into it a bit? Not exactly sure but possible. I also would rather want two pilots than one when you have a greedy race mixing sperg like Linus whose your boss.

Yeah, but the smaller jet wouldn't have the gold fittings in it, and that's the most important thing.

Been having a look at some private jets for sale online, and there's a fair few at or under the $1 mil US mark. Mostly Cessna Citations and Beechcraft Beechjets, about 1980s to 1990s.

Only problem is that he'd have to fly to Ohio, Texas or Florida to see them.

I like your uncle theory, maybe he met the guy and he mentioned in passing and became obsessed, or the uncle slyly decided to mention the falcon in passing in a random family dinner and decided to act as a intermediary for linus pro bono in the hopes he gets a commission or works as a pilot for him before his retirement age comes in.

Anyway he is fucked the second the ink dried on the agreement, I can't hammer enough how retarded this is, it would be less retarded and wasteful if he just piled 5 million dollars and burned in front of his employees for a Christmas vídeo.

For 5 million he could had easily get a brand new or nearly brand new phenom 100-300 or the Honda jet, perfect tiny jets that are single pilot ready and perfectly usable, heck, they'd be even perfect for leasing them out when he isn't using it, so he'd actually save some some money.

I see the midlife crisis is still going strong for Sir Faggot of Tech.

Thanks, Steve.

Well, going to the $5 mil price tag, it gets... honestly pretty solid.

Even more Cessnas and Beechcraft, with Dassaults, Embraers and Gulfstreams appearing as well.
He mentioned flying two families over, so I'll assume... 8 people, and I'll stick to North/South America.

A quick look gives...
1998 Dassault Falcon 50EX, 9 seat capacity, located in Vancouver, Canada. $4,995,000.
2001 Gulfstream GIVSP, 14 seat capacity, located in Austin, Texas. $4,995,000.
1998 Dassault Falcon 2000, 12 seat capacity, located in Dallas, Texas. $4,995,000.
2001 Dassault Falcon 2000, 10 seat capacity, located in Chesterfield, Missouri. $4,750,000.
1999 Dassault Falcon 2000, 10 seat capacity, located in Mississauga, Canada. $4,650,000.
2007 Gulfstream G150, 8-10 seat capacity, located in Sao Paulo, Brazil. $4,500,000.
2011 Cessna Citation CJ4, 9 seat capacity, located in Fayetteville, Arkansas. $4,500,000.

If he wanted to go to 4 million US, I could list another 8 or 9 aircraft.

He could even buy himself an 1998 Airbus A330. But he'd have to supply the engines himself.

You're all retarded. It's fresh off a full maintenance cycle, he has an experienced pilot to fly and manage the paperwork. The only misstep he made was buying it right before Drumph skyrocketed fuel prices. You think his chink wife would let him make such a bad investment?

He is still not making money on it despite endlessly asserting he "is girl mathing it out" and "it just is!!!" lol. We also just outlined why having family flying for you may be a bad idea as well. Also do you think Linus actually listened to anyone telling him not to do this? The other fatso in the vid directly said he was very opposed to the idea to begin with.

No.

If you "girl math" an aeroplane, you are at best looking to set a whole bunch of money on fire or at worst die in a horrible plane crash, which also involves fire since Jet-A loves to burn.

And you can see it on his face. I jumped around the clip a bit, he looks like he's at gunpoint as Linus 'sells' the idea on video, he looks horridly uncomfortable. He's being forced to film something that'll probably be all the fuck over "The Downfall of LTT" video openers with his face front and center.

I don't think its so much about money, Canada still has a really bad shortage of experienced pilots. If he just wanted a payday, he could easily find work. More likely its just passion/obsession, if Linus buys 'his favorite plane to fly' then he gets to go into his retirement flying something he enjoys. Either way, I find the idea that the Uncle basically sweettalked him into it plausible.

You think his chink wife would let him make such a bad investment?
She obviously knows a mainland guy in a really nice suit who's looking for help to move 'international students' from the Vancouver area to Toronto without many questions. I've heard its a super lucrative market.

i just watched my boy jay2cent running a 5090 on a 620 psu, its slop content? nobody who are going to buy that monster is that retarded? yes it was an entertaining video? yes
meanwhile this faggot bought a jet and for some fucking reason he thinks thats SO INTERESTING that he should make a video out of it? if you are not niki lauda who the fuck cares if you have your own plane linus you dumb faggot

Hohohohhh boy you'd be surprised. NEVER underestimate how retarded normies can be.
The entire luxury market is retarded.
McLaren and Lamborghini don't even make better engines for their more expensive cars anymore, it's all the same engines with a ECU tune up and more carbon fiber and they sell it for 2 million more.

Don't even get me started on clothing, I love Balenciaga and supreme because they expose how retarded people are, Balenciaga is selling literal trashbags for 2 grand.

And Linus is part of the problem, his entire channel became consumerist slop, we went from 600$ top of the line cards and 400$ CPUs for server grade work in 2012 that were guaranteed to do any work or game for the next 4 years at maxed out settings, to 2000$ graphics cards and 1000$ CPUs if you don't want to have stutter in your games that will become near unusable for professional work or gaming at 4k within 3.

To be fair to the leaf retard, yes top of the line GPUs and high end CPUs were certainly those prices in 2012. The problem is at this point the market has long since gone to shit and those prices are going to tip toe into the midrange at this point(and it doesn't have anything to do with inflation either). Intel, Nvidia, and AMD have pushed the price gap between midrange and higher end chips to absurdly stupid prices. Meanwhile for at least the gaming side of things, it's all held back by consoles like the xbox whatever S anyway.

Video content at that time would have been for shit like the GTX 670/680/690 with far fewer people interested in seeing videos for a 650/660. Same goes for the 700 series with the 770/780/titan while the 750/760 would have largely been ignored except for initial launch videos and the occasional budget build.

What isn't justified is the idiotic $30,000 TVs in his personal home theater room that no one actually has any interest in(and the people that could afford that can find much better sources of content and discussion of hardware anyway). Here's an example of "reasonable" LTT content from one of his side channels

Who the fuck watching LTT is going to be dropping $10,000 on a 98" TV, let alone have a place to put it? He even mentions the audience buying the more "reasonable" 85 inch version that still runs $8,000. LTT and his channels don't have a reputation for reviewing AV equipment, the simple reality is they got a free giant TV for a video(may or may not have to return it) and got paid to shill this crap. And when I say crap, I just mean the idea of this $10,000 TV, I have no idea if it's actually any good or not. And remember, this is the side channel. The main channel gets this shit
No one in his fucking audience is buying a $25,000 TV, and I don't need to go into that any further because it's so obvious. Yet he still got paid to promote it, or just received the damned thing for free to promote it.

At a certain point, these wall panels are no longer "Install a TV" they really should be "This is a full installer kit for professionals because this fuckers replacing the drywall and is going to become your wall, and routes out a seperate I/O block that's installed as a recessed block on your side of choice". Which would at least be cool for novelty, instead of just yet another "number slightly bigger" display. It'd probably cost the same after installation too.

According to the funny plane tracker app on reddit, gamer plane has landed in Leesburg, VA. Now, while it is highly improbable, the chance of Linus meeting Bossmanjack is not exactly 0.

Última edición:
I dare you to post on /r/LinusTechTips that he flew to DC because Trump invited him to the White House.
I only use Reddit for some tracking apps, I don't really use that site much simply because I can never get used to the weird UI (both new and old).
Oh, and when there's some drama about some lolcow, I can scroll through their community to see what is going on. And that's basically it.

But given how fast the LTT subreddit is deleting any mention of plane whereabouts, such not so subtle trolling wouldn't last long, I'm afraid, before it would garner any sort of attention.
